Smart plug, Smart Christmas!!
Received this Smart Plug several days ago. It is easy to be set up and costs me only several minutes. This was so much easier dealing with the SmartLife app that I will now be replacing all of other devices. Also, this smart plug works with Alexa very well. More important, the price is very reasonable on the top quality, the plastic of the shell is very solid and is certified by UL.In the coming Christmas holiday, I’d like to add some Snowflake lights, these samrt wifi plugs will be used to control these snowflake lights remotely if my family is out for a travel. However, these snowflake lights will still add the atmosphere of Christmas in the evening due to we’ll turn on them with the SmartLife APP, of course, we can schedule the time for turning on/off all of appliance and lights.

The number one reason you should not use this product: privacy
The biggest reason you should not use this product is because it requires full network access. That is, you MUST give it the password to your wireless network in order to use it. Because it is a product made in a country where privacy rights are — as a policy — ignored (China), it represents an unacceptable risk to the privacy of everyone in your home. Giving the app your password gives the app owners complete, unrestricted access to your network. This means everything you do on the internet can be known to them. Emails, chat messages, credit card numbers, passwords, VOIP phone calls, products you buy, anything you do on ANY device connected to that network is at risk (encrypted or not), and because it is a Chinese company the risk is even greater because it is even more likely that the Chinese Government — who exert state control over virtually every Chinese business — would require the company to give them such information. Do you think the Chinese government (or any government these days for that matter) would pass up on the opportunity for complete, unrestricted access to the communications of thousands of people using this product, many of whom are likely politicians, CEOs, lawyers, employees of companies working on competitor’s products, Wall Street businessman, etc.?There is simply no reason this app should need your wireless network password — like most apps it should be designed to function with your phone’s existing connection. No one should buy this product on principle alone, even if you feel that you have “nothing to hide”, you give tacit support to these companies who can continue to spy on thousands of people who simply are unaware of exactly what they are sacrificing when they use this product.

funky installation -not intuitive
the product works as described – but it took awhile to get configured. some of the instructions got lost in translation between Chinese and English. We tested the outlet with the TV and then changed it for the Christmas tree -easy to rename and easy to link with Alexa.

Great if you have Alexa, Good if you have Siri
Works fine on iPhone with downloadable app. However this does not work with Siri, as it does not support Apple HomeKit. Also you have to register your email or phone # to use the app. I think that is too invasive. What guarantee do I have that my data will be protected?
