    Great overall
Overall, I love these. I use them for the lights over my plants, and lights in our living room (because there’s no light switch in the room). I’ve had no issues setting these up in the past, but for some reason lately, anytime I try to add one, it refuses to connect to wifi until I go into my router’s setting and change our 2.4Ghz network’s channel. After that, it connects almost instantly. I want to knock a star off for that, but it’s possible that’s an issue with our router, not these plugs. The Tapo app is really easy to use, and makes it simple to set the plugs on a schedule. You can choose either set times to turn the plugs on and off, or go based off sunrise and sunset. It’s also easy to set up a routine so multiple plugs turn on/off at the same time (this is what we do for out living room). This can also be done in the Google Home app, but I like the interface through the Tapo app better. Will definitely be buying more of these or other Tapo products!

    Great Product
Was looking to upgrade some old smart plugs to ones that supported Matter and these fit the bill. Set up was extremely easy and I can control them via Google Home. I only downloaded the Tapo app to update the firmware but I do not use the app for any other reason (do all the controlling from Google Home). Very pleased with purchase.

Pretty good but some kinks with “matter” technology
Needed a couple of smart plugs and saw there is a brand new technology called “matter” that allows smart devices to continue to function on the local network if the internet is down, and also can work across multiple smart services (alexa, google, etc.) which I found appealing, so I figured if buying new devices today I would be future proofing with matter. After plugging in, I made the mistake of following the included “quick start” instructions which had me setup the tapo app. Don’t do this if you want to use matter, there is a separate card for matter instructions, and at least for alexa you have to setup devices in a specific order. To back out of that I hard reset the plug (hold power for 10 seconds) then followed TP-Link’s Alexa setup instructions online and paired with an echo dot 5th gen, and that works great! Frankly I’m still confused if the tapo thing is matter or if it’s a different protocol from the multiverse and how they work together. The instructions could be clear here on tapo vs. matter. It was a little challenging setting up the pairing with the Android phone (pixel 7) because while I was trying to scan the QR code in the Alexa app a matter device recurring pop-up kept taking over the screen, I think this is from Android but not sure, and assume it found it from bluetooth. I eventually managed to dismiss that and sneak in the scan for alexa before it came back, and I’m still not sure what would have happened had I tried to set it up via that method.Surprise! Matter doesn’t actually let you control one service via another (e.g., control the device paired to Alexa from Google) unless you own a hub to pair for each service, and I don’t own any Google nest stuff. After I created a code to use it from Google Home, it added the device successfully, but it said offline. So you cannot route Google Home controls on your phone through an echo or vice versa. Sad!So, I actually have a compatible SmartThings hub even though I don’t want to control it from that, and I started going through the same steps to get a pairing code, etc. But, it never successfully paired because the app never got passed the screen that says “Preparing.”Promising technology but still some work to do. The plug works great and as expected with Alexa routines, I’m very happy on that front.—Update: I realize I am one of the first reviewers of these matter smart plugs, so I’m sure people are asking “What’s a matter with SmartThings?” following this review. I’m happy to report that I saw a SmartThings app update come down on Android today, so on a hunch I tried to setup the plug again by getting a new code from Alexa, and sure enough this time it worked! It’s an “Aeotec Smart Home Hub” for those interested.

    Worked as advertised in seconds…
I got this to make my Christmas Tree part of my HomeKit network. It is Matter supported and has the Matter information right on the unit, but a sticker is included as well. Probably overkill, but nice for some folks, I’m sure. Not a complicated product or setup, it was working as advertised within seconds.

    Easy set up and works
The only confusion I had with this installation was which APP to download. There are a couple of different ones. But it became obvious. I use an ATT modem and EERO system throughout my house. Zero issues with set up on my networks. Alexa picked it up easily once I initiated the request. I’ve only had it a couple of days but consistently works through Alexa and the TP-Link app that you are supposed to use.

    I love these things
So far, these have worked flawlessly with zero glitches. I keep coming up with new uses like using one on a portable AC in the bedroom. No fumbling for the remote in the dark, just tell Alexa to turn on the air. They’re great for turning off Christmas tree lights without digging behind the tree every night to pull the plug. They’re also great if you have something like a smart tv that occasionally locks up and needs a hard reboot. Forget unplugging it or flipping the breaker, just reboot with a smart plug.

It works as it supposed to AND I didn’t need to download any app. Connected directly to Google or Tapo app and works in conditions like minus 30 Celsius.

I actually ordered this product from the US site, which is $20 cheaper even including the $9 import fee. But Aamazon couldn’t deliver for unknown reason. So I ordered it from the CA site and it arrived the next day. Well, a little pricey. I already own 2 TP Link Tapo Cam and 1 older generation plug. So, set up is easy for me. Just took a while to find out its model name is P125M. After searching for Wifi and entering the password, the plug was already set up. The mandatory firmware update, took 2 minutes to complete. Not bad. One star off because its fat body design blocks 3 sockets!!

Es una chulada, me sirvió para poder apagar y prender un compresor de manera remota. Me encantó.
