    For a do-it-yourself individual, this is an excellent product. Outlets are a very “nervous” install for a lot of people, and with good reason. The way this is designed, the installation is relatively easy. I’ve always been pretty comfortable around electricity, but I also have a healthy respect for it. I know what it can do, so I always take precautions as they are needed. This outlet was perfect for my purposes, and fit very well in the outdoor enclosure in which it was placed. Because the enclosure was an older one, this made me very happy. At this price point, an external outlet would have been made PERFECT, had it included a GFCI fault switch. This would have made it a 5-star rating, rather than a 4.

    High quality outlet
    This fall we moved into a house that was built in the seventies. Several of the outlets were loose so we called an electrician. He said we should just replace them ourselves and recommend we use either levitan or legrand outlets. This is a good quality outlet. This says it is weather resistant but it should really only be used in a bathroom or kitchen if it is being attached to a gcfi circuit, and to use it outdoors it should be in a weatherproof box and attached to a gcfi circuit. (I’m not an electrician, but it seems best to follow code even when doing diy projects. The code is there to keep you safe after all). My damp locations don’t have separate gcfi circuits, so, as this is tamper proof, I installed it in my 2 year olds room. It is easy to install with clear instructions on the inside if the box. We had it installed using a screwdriver and a wire stripper in under 10 minutes. (Turn off the breaker before you start!) A standard rectangle hole faceplate (not included) fits it well. Priced the same as other similar quality outlets. Works well and our plugs no longer fall out of the outlet, I also don’t have to put child safety plugs in this outlet to keep my son safe. Hooray!

    Product is listed as weather resistant AND tamper resistant, but the latter is a false advertisement.If you purchase this product because you need a tamper resistant outlet, look for another product.
