Great plugs
My mom is getting a little older I got her an alexa and some smart plugs to go with it. These are great. She can tell alexa to turn things off/on with out having to move in an uncomfortable way. I also set up some routines for her. She LOVES them. She is still up and moving but she gets tired. If she thinks she left something on at night she can just check her phone and turn it off.It took me a couple of minuets to install it but I was confusing myself.

Only work with Amazon Echo Device
The products title shows work with 2.4 and 5 hz and I though it will connect to wifi directly. It only connect to Amazon Echo and not work with “Smart Life” app. I have some connection issue in my house. I had installed one in Garage but there is no any Amazon Echo equitment close to my garage. It sometimes shows offline on app. I previous using the wifi one without any issue because internet WiFi cover my all house. If you done have Echo or less Echo at home, do not buy it.

They finally did it right!
This is a great little plug. Super easy to install and works great. It’s far superior to the plugs I’ve had in the past for several reasons.First, with this plug, you do not need to download yet another app! That’s great! With my last box of plugs I had to download a whole other app to work in conjunction with Alexa. Second, this plug is slightly smaller than the last plug I had so it’s easier to fit things in the other socket below it. Third, set up was crazy easy. Unlike the last one (where the plug and echo had to be on the same internet) all I had to do was plug this one in then ask my echo to find the device. I didn’t expect much because I haven’t had good luck with this in the past but it found the plug immediately. All I had to do was name it in the Alexa app and done.Lastly, and this is a big one for me, it does not count as a device on your modem! The last almost identical plug in looks that we used had to be connected to the same Wi-Fi as the echo and counted as a device on your modem. This one hooks directly to your Alexa easy peasy. Which means, at least with this plug, they have solved the Smart Home problem. In the past we had four plugs but had to cut it back to one because each plug counted as a device on our modem. Our modem only allows eight devices to be connected. With these plugs it appears that you could hook up as many as you like and it doesn’t count against your device list on the modem because it’s hooked directly to your echo.I’m an instant fan of this plug in movie picking up several more in the near future. Let’s hope it has better longevity than the last ones, as well.(Another improvement over the last plug? The power button is on the side. Instead of on the front face which is easily blocked by a bulky plug.)

More than a 50% FAILURE RATE
First off: I bought two four packs of these, which means I have received a total of eight plugs. I purchased the packs a week or so apart, and they were on a sale, so a lot of these units we’re moving, and the chance that both packs were produced on the same day seems highly unlikely. I cannot imagine that my experience is going to be different from the average experience with these units. The screenshot above was just taken at time of review, for the past couple weeks, any time I check the app, between 2-4 of the 5 plugs I’ve set up are failing. That’s between a 40-80% FAILURE RATE at any given moment. Two units failing (aka 40% of them) is the BEST case that comes up whenever I check them in the app.In short: Less than half of them work half of the time. The other half the time, they’re just completely unresponsive in the Alexa app. There has been no loss of power, no interruption of Internet/WiFi connection -they’re within 20 feet of the router, with no walls or dense objects between. There is absolutely no good reason for these units to be so constantly disconnecting.A couple of them misbehaved a little bit within the first couple hours while I was getting everything set up. I thought that maybe I was just doing something wrong, so I removed everything physically and from the app, and started over fresh. Within another hour, three of the five plugs I’ve used so far were being reported as unresponsive in the Alexa app. I could not turn them on/off in the app, and I was left trying to figure out why certain devices in my entertainment center had power when they should not. This has been an ongoing issue. No amount of redoing the setup or re-reading instructions makes any difference. I have a strong mesh 5ghz network, which these are specifically ADVERTISED TO WORK WITH.People purchase these smart plugs so that they won’t have to reach below/behind things in difficult to access areas -if they don’t work half the time, then you’re regularly going to have to do that anyway. What’s worse: If you’re depending on these for any kind of important home security or automation while you’re away, there is a high likelihood that these units will intermittently fail on you at random times -meaning that events to trigger things on/off at specified times simply won’t happen, and those missed triggers won’t just magically happen when the device magically reconnects later, not until something else re-triggers them on/off.I was genuinely excited to have found some 5ghz smart plugs for my home. We have a great need for them in a variety of uses, but my experience so far has proven that these products are totally unreliable and ultimately useless. I can’t even say “but at your own risk”, if you buy these you’re just flushing your money away.
