    Best Purchase!!! To refer to Canary simply as a home security camera would be a gross understatement! This all-in-one, smart home device has a plethora of useful features that makes it stand out from the rest. I would even go as far as to say that the Canary device, system, and Canary staff are in a league of their own. I was very excited to receive Canary and get it up right away. Everything about this product, down to the packaging is sleek, sophisticated, and of highest quality. The set-up was effortless! All I needed to do was download the app and pair via wifi (ethernet cable connection option as well) which only took a few short minutes. The Canary Flex is a wireless, weatherproof device that can be used both inside or outside of the home. The device comes with a magnetic swivel base that can be wall mounted or sit on top of a flat surface. The magnetic swivel allows for a 360 degree rotation to customize the view to meet your needs. I wasn’t certain where I was going to mount my Canary so I purchased the Twist Mount option as well. I’m so glad that I purchased the twist mount as it allowed for endless mounting and angle options. The small, discrete device popped right into the rubber mount which has a bendable and twistable stem that can be hung or wrapped around nearly anything. I set up my device in the evening (I was too excited to wait until morning) and was amazed by the clear, wide angle, HD image that I viewed on my iPhone as I adjusted the device to find the perfect angle. This device provides a perfectly clear image both day and night and alerts me in the moment when any activity is detected. If necessary, I can call the local police directly, sound an alarm (remarkably loud alarm!) to ward off potential intruders, or use a 2-way speaker with the touch of one button right on my iPhone in real time from anywhere. All activity is recorded so I can watch it repeatedly if needed. I love that I can check in and watch live at anytime as well. I did have to change the sensitivity of the device, as I was being alerted every time someone walked past my home but this was easily remedied in the settings of the app. I can’t say enough positive things about Canary and I’m thrilled that I discovered the system before the holidays because at this price point and quality, I plan on purchasing several as gifts this year! Thank you Canary for providing me with safety and piece of mind!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

    Makes my blood boil using this piece of crap
    I have bought this product hoping that I can monitor my corridor while away from home but I think it failed in many ways from my experience. The setup for the camera to my home network internet connection was pretty easy albeit slightly longer (it took around 3 mins for the Flex to connect to my wireless router while it was sitting just beside it). The setup was pretty straightforward on the app. Moving forward testing out the camera, while facing the camera towards myself and setting the sensitivity to the highest, it did not even sense my presence and all the while it was just in sleeping mode. I waved and walk in front of it but still it wouldn’t wake up or post any activity notification on the app timeline. I was getting frustrated and try to adjust the camera’s positioning. The camera only woke up and record bits and pieces of myself when i physically touch the Flex, Yes and I mean physically touch it such as tapping it and adjusting its position. It won’t even record or sense any motion when i wave my hands 1 cm away from the sensor, that’s how absurd it is.Next is the problem with live view. The live view only shows snippets of pre-recorded clips of myself again tapping and adjust the Flex, so it is not live view. They should have just name it “last pre-recorded clip”. Sometimes, it will just show that my camera is offline while my home internet connection is working flawlessly.The battery lifetime is also of a concern. Thinking that the battery life was great or at least it could last at least 3 weeks with minimal usage was too demanding. In fact after charging the Flex to full bar and placing it at home (I just dumped it at a corner facing the wall without any recording because I was just frustrated over the performance), I received a notification on my phone saying that my canary is offline due to flat battery after 3 days I believe. If not for this notification I would have forgotten about this crap.I bought this product on amazon because of the great promises by Canary advertisement and some of the reviews here, but sad to say I am not satisfied at all. This is the worse security camera I have ever owned and I’m going to throw it into the box and send it back. I believe this product is still not fully functional at this time. If you need a real working security camera, please do look elsewhere until they have sort out these issues.

    I bought two of these after having bought an indoor Canary View that worked fine, because I wanted coverage of my driveway and back garden. Small but robust devices that were reasonably easy to set up and install, I was initially quite happy with them.Then the trouble started…..the battery life is utterly terrible. No matter what you do. You can operate these wired to power but the point of having wireless cameras is so you can put them where you need them to be – not just within 3 metres of a power outlet. Mine are deployed where they need to be, both are within about 4-5 metres of my router and are set up for minimal detections to maximise battery life (I am often away during the week for work).These cameras take over 12 hours to charge – you’d assume battery life (especially on the settings I’ve used to minimise detections and prolong battery life) would be in the order of weeks. Yet both of my cameras last less than 24 hours. One of them requires completely removing from the app and re-installing every time the battery runs down, as a new camera. I have no idea why.I have had weeks of interaction with Canary Customer Support, tens of emails with multiple suggestions from them – which basically amount to making sure I’ve plugged the charging cable in properly and not much more. I actually suspect the support emails are being received and replied to by a Bot of some kind because they are largely nonsensical, repetitive, don’t track the thread of the conversation and do not help at all.I’ve done everything that canary support has asked me to do – including forcing the cameras onto the 2.4Ghz SSID of my router which they said would fix things, (I knew it wouldn’t but did it anyway) but that actually made things even worse.I am now going round in circles with their support emails and have had enough – I will be returning these cameras for a refund as they are simply not fit for purpose at all. It’s a shame because for the brief amount of time that they are up and running, their ability to detect motion and narrow it to people is great and the IR night vision mode is not bad at all

    The system will not detect users location.System can not be trusted as a security system.Canary system is not reliable. About 20% of the time the system will not detect if users are in the house or out of the radius geofence location.Very frustrating, required lot of time to play with the app and locations in order to find users location and work properly.Nice toy. Not reliable.
