    Why isn’t it frosted????????
    I’m truly wanted to love this bulb and even spend twice as much on it, but….Pros:1) great if it’s going into a frosted or shaded lamp2) the color is fully adjustable from cool to warm and bright to dim3) the shape is great and very nostalgicCons:1) it is not frosted so it was a very harsh light regardless of the color or brightness2) the app was very poorly made and the dish to dawn feature did not workIf it was frosted and the dusk to dawn worked I was ready to purchase 10 of these as outdoor and porch lights. But I went with dusk to dawn bulb adapters and regular frosted warm led bulbs.

    I had so many configuration problems, I finally gave up…and I’m an electrical engineer.
    I previously bought two Cree lightbulbs from the same family, and they work quite well. My smart phone app is able to adjust their brightness and color, and I can program them to change brightness and color throughout the day. I can also group lightbulbs together and control them all as one. I had hoped that I could do the same with this particular lightbulb, and bought three of them to use in my kitchen. However, it was very difficult to initially configure them, and when I did, they weren’t stable, so I had to try a second time to get them configured. Collectively, I spent at least two hours, and probably quite a bit more, on this problem. Eventually, I just gave up because it just wasn’t worth it anymore. when they worked, they worked well. However, Cree needs to spend more time getting this designed to be rocksolid and stable.

    Don’t give up
    It was a little difficult to get the light working with Amazon. I just kept trying and it did finally connect. Once connected it works great. I like that it can go from a super bright white light to a soft, warm light.

    great bulbs let down by mediocre software/firmware
    These seem like very good light bulbs. Each has two “warm” filaments and two “cool” filaments and you can use the Cree Lighting app to set the color temperature and brightness fairly easily.You can also use the Cree Lighting app to define a schedule for different temperature/brightness settings at different times of day. Perfect for my bathroom! I can set the lights to be properly bright during daylight hours, but extremely dim overnight so I won’t be blinded during midnight visits!So I thought.Turns out that, if this bulb is not powered on at the exact moment a scheduled setting is triggered in the app, the setting will not be relayed to the bulb. The bulb will keep its previous settings. The bulb will not, for instance, go dim at exactly 11:30PM unless the bulb happens to be on at 11:30PM.It’s a bathroom. I turn the lights off when I leave the room.This is my ongoing issue with smart bulbs. People turn their lights off at the switch. Nobody’s routinely pulling out their smartphone to turn the lights off when they leave a room. That’s why light switches exist. If a smart bulb cannot cope with that, it doesn’t even merit being called a “smart” bulb.If you just want to buy this light bulb and tune the brightness and color temperature once, it’s fantastic. It looks nice, there’s under a half second of latency between “power on” and “bulb lights up”, and Cree is probably the most reputable brand in LEDs. I’m keeping mine because at least they’re better than my previous non-tunable bulbs.If you buy this light bulb intending to use the advanced features that the Cree app offers, well… you shouldn’t. You’ll only be let down.

    Soooo disappointed. Terrible & inaccurate color.
    The color in the description is inaccurate. I am providing an image of another leading brand which provides accurate color description. Same fixture same room same wattage. Almost exactly the same temperature advertized. As you can see they should not different from each other by more than 4% but they are not comparable at all. I know the Kelvin scale very well because I work with light in cinema. That is not the end … These bulbs also generate orange and blue vertical shadows, due to the fact that the way they change color is to illuminate or dim two sets of LED filaments… One amber which is not warm enough to meet their specifications… and one blue which is not cool enough to meet their specifications. Again I measure these things all the time. And what was disappointing here is that I ordered exactly what I needed in the description is morosely inaccurate.
