An Exceptional Addition to My Home Security
Rating: âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ (5/5 stars)As a homeowner, Iâm always on the lookout for innovative security solutions, and the REOLINK Doorbell WiFi Camera has exceeded all my expectations. This sleek and discreet doorbell camera has been a game-changer in enhancing the safety of my home.First and foremost, the installation process was remarkably straightforward. With clear instructions and all necessary mounting hardware provided, I had the doorbell camera up and running within minutes. The fact that it is powered over WiFi eliminates the hassle of dealing with wires, making it even more convenient. The cameraâs image quality is nothing short of impressive. Boasting a 1080p full HD resolution, I can clearly see every detail of visitors or activity at my doorstep, day or night. The night vision functionality works flawlessly, offering sharp and well-lit footage in low-light conditions, providing me with peace of mind around the clock. The two-way audio feature is a significant advantage. Whether itâs chatting with delivery personnel or warning off potential intruders, the clear audio transmission ensures effective communication. Additionally, the motion detection capabilities have been spot-on, instantly alerting me via the REOLINK app on my smartphone whenever thereâs activity near my door. The integration with the REOLINK app is seamless and user-friendly. From adjusting camera settings to reviewing saved video clips, everything is conveniently accessible at my fingertips. Furthermore, the cloud storage option is reasonably priced, allowing me to store and review footage for an extended period. One aspect that truly sets this doorbell camera apart is its durability and weather resistance. It has bravely withstood heavy rain, scorching heat, and freezing temperatures without any issues, showcasing its reliability and build quality. In terms of security and privacy, REOLINK has implemented robust measures. The camera supports secure encryption protocols, ensuring that my video feed remains private and protected from unauthorized access. As with any product, there are minor areas for improvement. While the appâs interface is user-friendly, some additional customization options for motion detection zones would be a welcome addition. In conclusion, the REOLINK Doorbell WiFi Camera is an outstanding addition to any home security setup. Its exceptional image quality, reliable performance, and user-friendly features make it a top-notch choice for safeguarding your property. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and smart doorbell camera.

Works better than my old Amcrest AD110
I was already looking to replace my old Amcrest doorbell because I didnât exactly like the features and lack of 5Ghz wireless support. My Amcrest died unexpectedly necessitating a replacement. The only criteria I had for a new camera was 5Ghz connectivity and ONVIF support so it will integrate with my camera system. This camera checks all the boxes and more. I love that with the Reolink Alexa skill the camera passes person, motion and button press inputs to Alexa to use for routines. I have a Alexa routine setup to automatically turn on the porch light for 10 minutes at night if itâs off and a person is detected. Good for us when we forget to leave the light on and good for spooking off undesired guests. Installation was easy. This doorbell does not work with a mechanical chime and is recommended to be wired straight to the transformer so I removed the chime from the circuit. The included wireless chime module is fairly loud but I also setup the Reolink Alexa skill to alert with a sound and voice prompt on a few Alexa devices when the doorbell button is pressed. Picture quality is great. Device quality is great. Setup was painless. Only special step I had to do was use the windows Reolink app to enable RTSP and ONVIF as they are off by default it seams. You cannot see the RTSP and ONVIF settings in the mobile IOS app, not sure about Android.

Edit: Support Made Things Right | OG: Everything except the camera sucks
Edit:Reolink support reached out to me to make things right. And so far, they have. They offered to send out a replacement unit even after acknowledging that I had willingly thrown my old unit out. They persisted in this request for 2-3 months before I finally said, as long as it’s free of charge, be my guest. And my guest they became, as they shipped it out at no cost to me. Now, I don’t know if the updated software or they updated the camera to cause this, but I would call this newest version they sent me OK, not great. Initial difference, my router immediately detected it as “Roku”, which routers can get things wrong so it’s not that big of a deal, but I thought I remembered it being picked up as something else initially. The camera itself also seems to be different. It still has some good clarity, but it seems suddenly plagued by intense smearing. The image around movement is clear and sharp, but when things start moving it’s smeared incredibly poorly. I’ve tried several of the settings to fix this but nothing appears to be working so far.The chime itself actually works with this unit, as do push notifications, and the connection itself seems much more reliable than before. However, I still greatly wish they’d just enable the use of your home’s built in chime over using a wirelessly connected one.Original Review:I’ve had enough trying to get this piece of junk to work. It’s supposed to connect to my router through wifi, ring when someone presses the button, and alert me on the app when it happens. I connected it to my NVR and even gave it an SD Card.I’ve never been more frustrated with a machine than I have with this one. Don’t get me wrong, the camera on it is great, clear and really usable. But that’s it. The software in it sucks so bad that after 2-ish months of owning it I’m just throwing it away, it’s not worth the hassle anymore.First, it refuses to keep a steady connection to my router. I’d have to put my router basically on the other side of my door for it to stay connected reliably, and I do not have a weak router. When it works it works great, but it’s almost constantly disconnecting.Second, the push notifications are spotty at best, and non-existent at worst. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to reset this camera because of something stupid, but it’s more than I can count on one hand.Third, the chime. The awful, terrible, forced to be used chime. They REALLY need to make it so that you can just use your built-in chime if it exists because that sorry excuse for a piece of technology deserves less than the landfill it’s going to rot in. When I first received the doorbell, the chime paired right up and worked exactly like expected. However, for some reason unknown to me, the chime unpaired itself and I had to try and re-pair it. But, the chime just don’t do it. It beeps like it pairs, but the doorbell says the pairing failed. Right before I started typing this review I was trying to pair it for the last time, and I actually got it to pair, to my surprise. Only for the software to say that the chime wasn’t connected. Are you kidding me? Not connected? While I was troubleshooting they were plugged in less than a foot from each other, and the chime can’t connect to the doorbell? After what totals up to several hours trying to get it to pair over the course of me owning it? Nah, that’s cool, I’m just going to smash it to pieces and throw it in the trash.I’ve never had the displeasure of working with something this frustrating before. I’m in IT and networking, none of the issues I’ve encountered with this doorbell should exist. It’s just a waste of money and a terribly executed product. Being forced to use that sucky chime was really the kick in the teeth I needed to decide I’m never going to buy another Reolink product again.

Great unit, no subscription required, added my own SD card. Setup was easy as well using the Reolink app. I did have issues connecting but found the auto-lockout setting for failed logins was causing an issue, so turned that off. Since then, it has worked like a charm, the video is very sharp, and the night vision is really good.FYI, if you are running into constant connection issues, power off the power source to your doorbell and when you gain access again after it restarts, go into the doorbell settings. System | User Managment and disable “Illegal Login Lockout”. This feature does not appear to be working properly and locks out the device after the initial connection. Even if you disable WAN access, you still have the same issue. Reported this to Reolink, and will see what they come back with.UPDATE: After assistance with Reolink Support, I have an NVR also on my network for my POE Reolink external cameras and the NVR has an auto add feature. But because the auto added doorbell to the NVR needed the current password set, it was causing the lockout feature in the doorbell to kick in, because it wasn’t set. Once I set the password, the issue went away.

After much research, I decided to go with the Reolink doorbell, as my google/nest doorbell had notorious lag (20 seconds before it chimed within the house) and little historic recording without paying a monthly sub. This unit takes an Micro-SD card so you dont even need an NDR if you like. It integrated with home assistant almost automatically. Great camera quality, great set of options available in Home Assistant.Really recommend this.

Big step up from our old Ring Video Doorbell 2 in image and sound quality, speed detecting people and connecting in the app, and best of all it has local storage and no subscription is required. With the Ring by the time we got notified and got a video feed in the app the visitor was normally walking away, while the Reolink connects in a second or two.Image quality is very good. At night I don’t use the IR detector, the camera is sensitive enough with just street lighting. The app is very good, lots of options, though I do wish there were a few more decent chime sounds (there are about 10 choices but only a couple that sound like doorbells), and more quick reply options would be nice. Searching and playing back recordings is straightforward. The doorbell is mounted on a piece of metal trim around the door that attenuates the wifi signal, but so far it’s been reliable and fast enough if I turn the video bit rate down. It has an ethernet port if I need to wire it up, which is great, but it would be better if the chime acted as a repeater like the Ring Chime Pro does, or if there was an option like that. The Chime Pro alone is half the price of the Reolink though, and the Ring in the same location got no signal without it.Adjusting the detection sensitivity (people walking past on the sidewalk etc) took a lot of trial and error over two or three days, but i expected that. Maybe a doorbell with built in LIDAR would handle it better.I bought this because I thought the Ring was failing. It turned out my wiring was bad, but I’ll keep it anyways. It’s a big upgrade overall, I feel more in control of my privacy with the local storage and detection, and with no subscription fee it pays for itself in a couple of years.
