Really the best bang for your buck.
These cameras are cheaper, better constructed, and clearer than any of the previous Tapo/Kasa cameras I have used. They are also more compact and easier to mount. The base is magnetic, although there is a single screw hole you can use if you want a solid connection. The magnet is strong but I feel like some bad weather might knock it around a bit. A single self-tapping sheet metal screw and I had it secured to my galvanized post. It does also come with a separate metal plate to mount it to non-magnetic surfaces, as well as the double-sided 3M tape which may work better on some surfaces. The included USB cable is pretty long. It was long enough for me to run through the wall to my nearest indoor outlet. The Iimage is just spectacular and the color night vision is pretty cool (note : the color night vision only works when the spotlights come on momentarily, but this is no issue.) the body of the camera is metal unlike many cameras in its class and although it is stationary it has quickly become my favorite. This model does not have an internal battery but if you don’t need that then you save a lot of space. Big plus, these will work with Blue Iris NVR software, but you will have to do some research on how to set them up for it. Basically you still have to use the Tapo app to set them up but after that they will connect to other NVR software. These are a fantastic value and I’ll definitely be buying more.

Renter friendly, phenomenal video quality
The Tapo c120 is an above exceptional security camera, especially if you’re a renter like me who can’t drill holes, and especially can’t make permanent changes to their living spaces. It’s magnetic design and double-sided adhesive make the installation process and absolute Breeze. No tools, and no fuss, you can easily attach it to metal surfaces or even stick it securely to walls without having to worry about damaging them. This renter friendly approach is a game changer compared to traditional security cameras that require super invasive installation methods. One of the standout features is it’s AI abilities don’t require subscription , such as person detection pet detection glass break detection and motion tracking, this is this is especially crazy because these are premium features that you can’t live without! It’s excellent night vision brings out the clarity of the footage even in extreme low-like conditions. The built-in lighting allows for 5 to 30 minutes of color night vision, this isn’t just help over recording but acts as a deterrent for intruders. In conclusion, it’s a very smart choice for anyone looking for flexible, high quality, reputable, and non-permanent security solution. They go on sale every now and then, so make sure to catch one at its cheapest! Also, in the video I provided I demonstrated a feature in which you can connect the camera to your Amazon Alexa, when the camera detects a person only a person a human presence it will let you know by telling you there’s someone at the front door, if you have an echo show you can also have it show you the camera feed.

I have been looking for a security camera for pointing outside my house mainly for monitoring if anyone coming to the house (for delivery etc), any vehicle going to my drive way or park outside my house, and any pets (or racoon) wondering outside my house especially at night. The C120 is exactly what I am looking for.I’ve been using the tapo C120 for just one month and very happy with this product and the tech support. It got all the features I’ve looking for among different brands and models, picture quality is quite good day and night, live and recorded video very smooth, small foot print to be mounted on the window frame, flexible camera arm for pointing at the exact angle easily, very considerate magetic base plate and double side tape for simple installation without the need for drilling nor screwing.It has about 5 sec pre-recording when the motion is detected so you won’t miss anything right at the beginning of the moment the motion detected, multiple detect zone which so flexible that not confined to just rectangular shape like to older model, detection of person, vehicle and pets work just great, night vision is very clear without the need of infra red or spot light (especially useful when I put the camera behind the window pointing outside the house), quite happy with the motion detection response which is very fast (both day and night time).More important, technical support is very good, I found the recorded video is jerky a couple of times at the beginning of the video, contacted tech support with sample video sent to them, unexpectedly, they responsed the next day and even got a firmware update for me within a week and the problem seems resolved now, of course I will monitor the issue for the next couple of weeks to make sure it is really fixed (which I think it is), also tech support (Ian Xu) responses very fast with good follow up which is another star added.
