    Perfect for modem/router
    This thing is awesome! wish I discovered these type plugs sooner it’s perfect to plug your Modem/router into when you need to reset it as it doesn’t need wifi which defeats the purpose if your internet is out and you wanna reset what ever you plug into this! working perfectly with Verizon 5g home internet modem/router plugged into it! This one is the best deal on here too! It stays connected also even when you are away or turn off Bluetooth on your phone unless you turn it off in the app! Highly Highly recommended this surprised there aren’t more reviews. The app works great setup is easy as pie!

    Utter piece of crap, does not stay paired, won’t reconnect or re-pair
    I bought this to control a TV in my business’ showroom. I do not have nor want Alexa. I bought what I thought was a good brand name in Sylvania. I chose it because it was supposed to work with Google Home. After wasting over an hour due to forced sign in and account verifications, turns out it does NOT work through Google Home. I don’t even remember how I finally found the Sylvania app. After installing the app, it found the plug and did a firmware upgrade. I was able to control the plug for about a hour.I came in the next day and looked forward to using my new plug, and got an out of range error. I stood next to the plug (3 ft) and it still didn’t work. The app has been trying to connect for two hours now, no luck. I tried forcing a re-pairing, still not connecting. I even tried unplugging everything from the wall and starting over. My Bluetooth settings sees the device, but will not pair to it.I have wasted 6+ hours and tons of aggravation on this junk. Not worth returning, shipping cost is more than the plug.Very Disappointed!!

    Works Great
    I just wanted a simple smart plug to control a lamp using the Home app on my iPhone. I didn’t want WiFi, I just wanted Bluetooth. This took less than five minutes to set up. You have to download the Sylvania Smart Home app initially to tell it you want it to work with the Home app, but then you can delete the Sylvania Smart Home app and control the plug with the Home app. It works great and set up was very easy. Sometimes you just want something simple and you manage to find it!

    Haven’t been able to connect to Homekit
    Cons:Haven’t had any luck connecting to Homekit (iOS v16.1.2)May be fragile, but should be expected at the price point.Pros:App works fine.Outlet works.SYLVANIA app seems to have re-connection issue if you leave the app open in the background and come back to it later on. Could just be my device settings.

    This solved a problem
    We had an issue of the Bluetooth connected to our home stereo/speakers always grabbing audio from our devices when we weren’t wanting that (like your are using BT ear buds and suddenly the sound goes to the stereo instead)—prior to getting this smart outlet our only solution was to walk to the living room and powering off either the Bluetooth receiver or the stereo, but now we can easily keep the stereo powered off/on from our phones so that we’re only getting audio over the wired speakers when we want it. Simple but effective.

    Homekit compatible, a bit finicky but works well
    Important to know is that even if you only want to use it in Apple Homekit, you must connect it first with the ‘SYLVANIA Smart Home’ app. Fortunately it doesn’t require an account, all it needs to do is perform a firmware update then it will show up in Apple Home as a new device to setup.I use this to turn on an off a charging brick for an iPad we use as a picture frame, it works as intended but since it is over Bluetooth, it doesn’t always connect reliably. I would say 90% of the time it works on the first try, this caused an issue for us that the iPad would die since it doesn’t always activate the outlet.Although crude, the solution for us is just to trigger the outlet twice and so far it works great now.Not perfect (probably because it’s via Bluetooth), but we wanted a smart outlet without needing a hub, connecting it to the internet (WiFi) or an Apple TV (unfortunately, there aren’t many options), and this works perfectly. For our use, and after figuring out a way to trigger it reliably, it’s perfect for us. But if you need something that works all the time the first time, this is not it.

    Looking for an Apple Homekit plug? This is NOT it…
    I purchased two of these smart plugs thinking I found the deal of the century when it came to Apple Homekit smart plugs. I opened the box and sure enough there’s the instructions, the Apple Homekit product code and the plug itself.I tried for a week straight and there is no possible way of connecting these smart plugs to Apple Homekit. Let’s get this straight from the get go. These are BLUETOOTH connected smart plugs. First you have to download their native app (which for some reason they have two version of it now). One of their apps (the one advertised in the instructions) doesn’t even have an option to add bluetooth devices. The other app (seemingly european) lets you add the bluetooth device but once it discovers the device it goes up to 25% of connection and then drops, (no matter what device I tried to connect from).I tried using the Apple Hopmekit code but the smart plug needs to be connected to the native app before being added to Apple Homekit.The only way I was able to use these smart plugs was if I added them via Amazon Alexa as an unknown device with bluetooth. It would discover them as a “light” and I’d be able to control them.In conclusion, stay away from Sylvania products, sometimes cheap turns into expensive for these kinds of mistakes.

    Works like a champ with Apple Home
    The outlet works like a champ. I’ve tried several different brands and, so far, these work the BEST with Apple Home. They connect quickly, stay connected, and show up in Home every time (knock on wood). Highly recommend!!
