LOVE these gorgeous lights
I love my nanos. I spent a good deal of time arranging mine into an interesting shape in my setup. Everyone who sees my home office/gaming setup is always in awe, and the lights are definitely the main attraction. The app kinda sucks and constantly fails, making the lights not function according to downloaded settings, but I just use one of the presets you can switch through using the controller on the lights themselves, and there’s a pretty pink/blue/purple mix that is my standby. My controller actually ended up crapping out, and Nanoleaf support was quick to help me diagnose it as defective and send me out a new one, which I’m very appreciative about! Their support alone makes this a solid buy. My only gripe would be the app, but it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of my lights (personally)

Cool? Yes! Practical? No
So this is just a really cool game room LED lighting device that easily allows you to customize the feel of your space. The product works well and is easy to configure. The effect depends on your design, and you might find that one set of lights is too restricting to your imagination. The product is expensive though, so that is by far its largest weakness. Overall it’s cool and it makes a great gift, but I wouldn’t personally purchase it.

More lights!
As a smart home enthusiast, I am always one the lookout for more accent or ambient lighting that I can add, that is LED based, to be able to set the atmosphere better.I got these to add to a room that I am building in my house, and I had a specific idea in mind when I found these. These are going to be used to accent a specific set of controls that will be adjusted occasionally, but not constantly, so the need for the lighting to be subtle, and not too bright, while also being able to be made brighter, when needed, was important. The design element is important, too. Being able to add a little design to the light, will help draw the attention away from what it is actually meant to be illuminating, but rather, act as just another light source that happens to have a design to it.I did, however, play around with these, to make sure they work. I got them working through the Tuya platform, and their app. I have the platform linked in to my existing smart home, so I wanted to make sure that it was accessible, before installing them. They do work and respond to voice commands, so that is great.I checked the adhesive qualities, and, while it is not the best I have found, it is still pretty good. It will definitely work, with few issues. They snap together fairly easily, as well, so you will be able to work out your design, before putting them up (or under, on top of, whatever). All in all, a very nice set of lights. Cheaper than some of the name brand ones that you see, and to me, seems to be just as good.

Great ambient light
For a while now I have been using a similar RGB light bar device to give my room a nice ambient lighting and avoid using the much-too-bright room light. I’ve had a lot of experience dealing with its quirks and setup, so I feel the best way to review this one is to compare it directly. That other light bar is an earlier version of Govee’s Glide (without the diagonal pieces). The connections between the light bar segments were very limited, not offering many ways to customize how you put them together, and the connector to power source was really stubborn and difficult to plug in. Those connections between the light bar segments were also quite flimsy, feeling like they could easily break under the strain of holding one light bar connected to another. These, on the other hand, are very easy to work with. The segments have large rectangular plugs and the hexagons have ports they fit into. They snap in and out pretty easily, and fit snug enough that they don’t feel like they’ll break if you plug a couple things in and move them around. There’s some play in that connection, but it won’t sag and fall apart under its own weight unless you have at least a few segments in a line connected together and lift it from the end. Getting the large adhesive pads applied to the back and then to the wall is a pretty easy process given how well they seem to be put together.Govee has an advantage in their control box – the cords are longer and the default controls before you connect to the app have more good options. Even their app feels more responsive and easy to use. As for this product, I like that the app is a sort of generic popular smart home thing, so it’s not some shady proprietary thing. But it’s also a bit finicky – both the out of the box settings accessible through the remote and the app-based options are either not as well-designed, or don’t work as intended. Most of the “scenes” that smart home app offers (animated effects with beautiful color displays shown in the app) don’t even come close to looking right on this light bar – the colors and animations are completely different. No idea why most of those seem to be broken, but I prefer a non-moving color gradient setting anyway, and that’s been working fine. Now, while the gradients look fine, there are slight hiccups. The edge of each hexagonal node piece starts to light up with the color that the bar will transition to, instead of being a more smooth color change from the node to the bar across to the next node. The bars look great, with bright colors and smooth transitions from one to the next, it’s just a bit weird that you get some of that adjacent color reflected in the node, far away from where it should be in the gradient.Another issue is with the app itself, and the way the controller interacts with it. I really prefer to “set it and forget it” with the app. I have my color pattern set, now I just want to use the remote to control the lights and not worry about the phone app. Unfortunately, if you press anything on the remote other than on/off (those work fine) it completely overrides the app settings. You have to go back into the app, destroy your custom color settings and re-create it again before the light bar will fully return to that look. And even through the app, you can’t just adjust the brightness of the gradient, either. You have to change the brightness to where you think you want it and re-apply each color at that brightness. It’s really a shame I can’t find a way to quickly save or load preferred settings there. The brightness button on the remote should just attempt to brighten or darken the applied colors from the app, but instead it reverts back to a solid red when I do. It’s just poorly thought through, I think.Overall, I think Govee really wins on the software front. It feels a lot more tightly buttoned up, better controlled with more options and everything just works. This manages to look just as good and you get quite a lot of cool looking RGB decoration for your money, which is better-built hardware in my opinion. But the software, both onboard and through the app, does cause more issues than it should. At this price, I would like to see more robust and consistent controls and handling. But I can put up with that, because now that it’s dialed in, I much prefer the look of this on my walls. The Govee has been taken down.

Looks great, easy installation, versatile features. Good investment.
This modular LED smart lamp has a nice design and color. Itâs made of plastic but still feels strong enough to last. Installing the lamp takes about 10 minutes, and itâs pretty straightforward, just had to connect and mount. This lamp doesnât need batteries since it has an internal rechargeable battery and comes with an integrated cable that can’t be removed. Be aware, though, that the cableâs box is a bit large and might block other power outlets. One of the best features is that the lamp can change colors and has various lighting modes, including a sound-reactive mode. However, this mode might not suit everyone as it causes the lights to flash intensely, which could be a problem for people sensitive to strobe effects.Overall, the lamp works well, offers fun lighting options, and is easy to use and set up. I believe itâs a good investment.
