    Easy setup!
This was really easy to set up and use with Alexa. The app installed easily, and I can either use that or Alexa to control the lamp I installed this bulb in. I love playing with the different colors and brightness.

    Underrated af, 100% good deal
I’m surprised there’s no reviews here, so first let me say that it works! It integrates with Google Home very well, and set up wasn’t too hard. Only complaint I have is that I can’t just mass-order them, which is more a compliment than complaint. I got my first bulb from a hardware store for $20, so the price of $13 is a steal, i ended up saving $50 to re-bulb my entire apt (10 bulbs). The Starfish App itself is good too, only issue is that to have the light flash to the music, your phone has to be near the speaker and it’s not the best. That being said, I’m more of a chill guy and less so a epilepsy-inducing maniac so it’s not a feature I’ll miss. I’ll update this review in August to lyk how long they can work for, cus that’s my main concern, and a month is not enough to test them. But alas, there’s free returns, so what does it matter? Seems like a valid purchase to me!

    Not very bright
It works like any other WiFi light bulb. However, it is not very bright. Especially when you go to the color setting.

Great Smart Bulb Despite Incorrect Listing Info
I did not want yet another app on my phone for a smart device, so I figured by the description I could control it using Smart Things (Samsung…. No such luck–it didn’t support Satco light bulbs, just other Satco products.) So I tried *Smart LIFE* which I already had on my phone and bingo, it installed fairly easily (you turn the light switch on/off 5 times and wait for it to blink in pairing mode.) From then on it was easy to control with Google or Alexa. The Smart Life app lets you work wonders with this bulb, you should be happy with the special effects and cool gimmicks some other lights are lacking. Not a bad price either.

    Great!
This works just like the other smart lightbulb that we have. You can dim it on command with Alexa, which is what we use. We also have a google assistant in our spare bed, it works great with that as well. We ultimately put it in our spare bedroom. You twist it in like a normal light bulb and then turn your switch on. Then you can easily pair it to whatever device you are using. It paired very easily to both platforms we use. The switch is really far away from the spare bed, so this is perfect for that! We are very happy!

Nice, economical WiFi light but NOT Siri compatible
I started my smart lighting adventure with Hue by Philips, which I still use today. It is an expensive system to buy, and requires a hub to operate its full functionality. Years later the market is full of inexpensive smart bulbs that do not require any additional hardware to operate.Satco’s Startfish WiFi Smart Bulb is a great solution for those who don’t want tot pay a lot of money for smart lighting but want a lot of features. Setting up the bulb can be challenging at first, especially to newbies. First, it is necessary to download an app that is used for both setup and control of the bulb. The Starfish uses Tuya’s technology which allows the use of more than one app. Since I already have other devices that use the “Smart Life” app, I can add the bulb into the device list of that app and not have to add the “Starfish” app to my phone. If this is the only bulb or smart device you own, download the Starfish app, which is the recommended app for this bulb.Pairing the bulb with the app can be difficult, but with trial and error it works. As the technology improves, pairing also gets easier. First screw the bulb into a light fixture, then turn the light on and off five times. Wait a few seconds and se if the light blinks. If it does, the device should be able to be paired in the app. Usually the Auto Scan feature can find devices in pairing mode but sometimes they need to be added manually. Under normal circumstances pairing only needs to be done once, so after it is setup the Starfish is easy to use. Of course setting up an account is necessary on the app and during pairing mode you need to enter your WiFi information.Once the bulb is connected to the app there are four different modes, plus a countdown timer and scheduling. The “White” mode allows the ability to select the color temperature with 5 presets – 2700k, 3000k, 350k, 4000k and 5000k. Basically from yellow to bluish. There is also a variable wheel to manually change the color temperature to your own choice. There is also a slider to change the brightness of the bulb. When the bulb is changed to color mode there is a drastic drop in the bulb’s brightness from the white mode. The color mode offers 7 preset colors, a manual color wheel and both brightness and saturation allowing the user to tune on the exact color they want. The saturation slider allows a “lighter” version of the color set from the color wheel. “Effects” Mode allows 8 editable presets that runs a sequence of colors with a flash or breath transition with a programmable speed control, or just a static preset color or whiteness at a desired brightness. These presets are good for voice control to turn on the light in a desired manner. The last preset is “Music” which uses the mobile device’s mic to flash the bulb different colors as the music is picked up. There are no user controls in this mode. There is also a countdown timer to shut the bulb off, as well as a primitive scheduling function that allows the app to turn the light on or off at a specific time. It does not have a scene or color to program, it just turns on to its last setting.Alexa and Google Home integration work great, it’s just a matter of linking the starfish account with each of the two accounts. The box also indicates the bulb is able to be able to be controlled by Siri, but there is no Homekit QR code and no instructions for setting up Siri in the user guide so I don’t think this is possible. I don’t use Smart Things, so I could not test that compatibility. Overall the Starfish works as good as other WiFi bulbs in its class and may even be a little brighter in white mode. One star is being removed from this review for the product falsely being claimed to be Siri (Homekit) compatible.
