I got a hub and doorbell camera with several accessories. In the package, I found an Ethernet cable, power adapter, and a 64 GB microSDXC card. There was also a backplate and some mounting hardware. I mounted my doorbell camera on a drill-less video doorbell mount and powered it with a 24-volt transformer – both the mount and transformer were not included.Setting up the hub was quick. I installed the Reolink app from the Google Play store, connected the hub to my router, and plugged it into an outlet. In the app, I tapped the plus sign to link the hub to my phone. I had three options: scan the QR code on the hub’s back, manually input the info, or do a LAN search. I chose to scan the QR code, and the app guided me through the initial setup.I inserted SD cards into both the hub (which has two slots) and the video doorbell camera. Adding the doorbell camera through the app was also quick. Both devices formatted the inserted SD cards automatically.The doorbell camera’s livestream image resembles a door peephole view, with a wide horizontal and vertical field. This allows me to check for packages left at my front door. The Reolink app lets me display the livestream in a small window over other apps.For night viewing, I can choose between automatic, black and white, or color mode. Since my front door area is well-lit, I opted for color mode. The app also offers auto-reply messages, including some seasonal themes like Halloween, though I haven’t seen any Christmas-themed ones yet.I can manually adjust the livestream bandwidth, choosing between clear, balanced, and fluent modes, with fluent using the least bandwidth. The app also allows me to manually capture images or record the livestream.

I needed just the doorbel, the the hub that came it, i haven’t found any use for just yet. The packaging was immaculate, its like i was unboxing a large Iphone. Evrytin the package sreams quality, they way it wrapped up, rhe items themselves, even the plastic feels premium. The camera itself is sort of heavy, doesn’t feel like cheap plastic toy. Installation of the camera was very easy. Lime a typical guy, i tend to skip instructions, but did have to read some things. At one time i snapped the camera into its holding case, and couldn’t get it out, so i tried to pry it out with a screwdriver, and buggered it up. After reading the instructions, it requires a use of the included pin to release it from the case 🤦🏻‍♂️. The software installation was also easy. When you turn the camera on, it talks in a bunch of different languages. The app has a lot of custom settings, it can also be shared with other people in your household. I didn’t like that the app required access to my stored pictures and videos to operate, and there is no way to proceed with authorizing. The camera can be installed wired or wireless ly. Originally, i was going to wire it, but its kinda cold outside, and i may have to wait until the spring, so for now i left it with the wireless setup. The issue with this, it doesn’t come with a wireless chime, and has to be purchased separately. I thought maybe the hub can operate as a chime, but it doesn’t. The video is pretty clear, it covers my entire porch. Its a fisheye lens, which does distort some of the image, but not where it matters. The image is 2K resolution , more than i’ll ever need for my small porch. The kit comes with 1 -64gig Micro SD card, which i installed into the camera, also the hub can take 2 cards. Its takes a few seconds to connect when i get a doorbell ring, but thats my network, not the cameras fault. This thing is built really well.

I probably would never have encountered the REOLINK Video Doorbell system had I not been offered the opportunity to participate in the Vine program. But I’m very glad I did.Having never used this form of doorbell before I was ,as usual, concerned that something would go wrong in the installation process and the ,’now what do I need to do to make this work’ scenario would be at hand. I’m OK technically, but not to the extent that I can usually troubleshoot uncertain connection issues.But nothing did go wrong. The instructions for both the video doorbell and the Home Hub storage unit were perfectly clear and step-by-step perfect. In reading other reviews I noted that others had far more difficulty due to multiple camera set-ups, wi-fi issues, or older generation technology, so that is certainly a consideration, but for me this was a completely seamless process. Of course it always takes a while to be familiar with the exact mechanisms and options involved but nothing at all out of the ordinary caused any issues.As always I urge reading of the other previous reviews who have very well covered some of the important technical aspects of the REOLINK system. I am not going to repeat them again here. I have a very basic home operation with just the one camera and the further connection to the Home Hub for additional storage capacity and security of data, and it works flawlessly. I have posted a series of photos taken at various times during the day and night to show the outstanding quality of the image you will get and to show the operation of the night-time infrared camera system. Honestly the video doorbell component of this package offer is perfect for my needs and could easily be for yours as well, and considering the history of REOLINK and this type of product, after market support should be at least available.The second part of this package offer is the REOLINK Home Hub. This is probably for most limited users not something that they will need so much as want. It’s essentially a storage unit for video captures from the camera and adds a level of security to your doorbell network. It’s always better to not have data stored exclusively on the doorbell camera since the camera can be removed and there go your files. As I mentioned I had no issues in either initiating the Home Hub or connecting it to the camera itself. Again the provided instruction manuals led me step by step from beginning to end. I have not played with the many sensitivity settings allowed via the Home Hub but this system can be ‘scene’ adjusted to suit the level of warning and observation that you feel is required for your situation.All in all , I can easily recommend this REOLINK package to anyone looking for a more secure home environment without the onerous demands of an ongoing monthly charge.I will also say that as of this date (Nov 18/24) a promotional discount is on offer. $279.99 LESS $56.00, which is both a decent discount in itself for the products, but also represents a further package discount when both items are purchased together.The only possibly negative thing I will note is something that was mentioned in a more favourable light, in another review. The packaging. While it is very secure, I found it to be excessive. In this age of trying to cut down on generated waste, surely a mere handful of components could be packaged in FAR less material. I have uploaded a photo of all the packaging that is involved here. If this could be reduced at all going forward, everyone would benefit, imo.

I have used REOLINK security cameras before and I have always been very happy with anything made by REOLINK. When I saw this doorbell with the hub, I had to get it. The hub is compatible with the cameras I already have.The doorbell and hub arrived very well packaged which is the case with all REOLINK products. They take pride in their packaging and they are very giftable.Set up is very easy by scanning the QR codes on the hub and the doorbell. Following the instructions on the app was simple and worked well.Once the doorbell is installed on the hub you are presented with some pretty amazing video. The quality is great.The hub worked well with my existing camera and it’s nice having both the doorbell and the camera store the video and images locally so I do not need to pay for cloud storage. You can put up to 2 micro SD cards up to 512 MB each in the hub and the doorbell comes with a preinstalled 64 Gig Micro SD card.You can set up the doorbell to notify you if it detects any motion and notify you on your phone.You can also have 2-way conversations with people that come to your door.Night vision works great and you can see even when it is dark.The video shows from head to toe for anyone who comes to the door.When the doorbell rings the hub and your phone ring. You can also get extra chimes to install in your home if you want which will ring when the doorbell is pressed.I am very happy with this doorbell and hub by Reolink. They work as expected and are loaded with too many features to discuss in this review.The price is very fair for the quality and features you get and I do recommend this.
