REOLINK 2K Video Doorbell Wi-Fi Camera – A Comprehensive ReviewThe REOLINK 2K Video Doorbell Wi-Fi Camera offers an impressive combination of performance, features, and value. As smart home devices continue to evolve, video doorbells like this one promise enhanced security and convenience, and REOLINK’s offering delivers on many of these fronts. Below, we break down its key features, pros, and cons to help you decide if it’s the right choice for your home.Key Features:2K HD Video Quality: One of the standout features of the REOLINK doorbell is its 2K video resolution (2560×1920), which offers crisp, clear visuals. This is a step up from the typical 1080p resolution found in many video doorbells, providing better image clarity, especially in low-light conditions.Wide Field of View: The camera boasts a 160-degree wide-angle lens, giving you a broad view of visitors and the surrounding area. This wide field of view reduces blind spots and helps you see more of what’s happening outside your door.Two-Way Audio: The doorbell is equipped with two-way audio, which allows you to speak to visitors or delivery drivers via the REOLINK app. The sound quality is good, with minimal lag, making it ideal for communicating in real-time.Motion Detection & Alerts: REOLINK’s motion detection system is responsive and can be adjusted for sensitivity. You’ll receive alerts on your smartphone whenever motion is detected, allowing you to monitor any activity at your doorstep, whether you’re at home or away.Night Vision: The built-in infrared night vision ensures you can clearly see who’s at your door even in complete darkness. This is a critical feature for nighttime security, and the REOLINK doorbell handles it well.Storage Options: The REOLINK video doorbell supports both cloud storage (subscription required) and local storage via a microSD card (up to 128GB). This provides flexibility in how you store your video footage, though cloud storage will come with additional costs over time.Wi-Fi Connectivity: As a Wi-Fi-connected device, it’s relatively easy to set up and connect to your home network. The connection is stable, although performance can depend on the strength of your Wi-Fi signal at the installation site.Pros:Superior Video Quality: With 2K resolution, the video feed is sharp and clear, providing excellent detail. This is especially noticeable during the daytime but also performs well at night, thanks to effective night vision.Wide Angle Lens: The 160-degree field of view covers more ground, minimizing the need for additional cameras around your front door area.Reliable Motion Detection: Motion alerts are timely and accurate, with minimal false alarms. You can customize the detection area to focus on the most relevant spots, like your front door.Affordable: Compared to other high-resolution video doorbells on the market, the REOLINK 2K doorbell is priced competitively, offering great value for its features.Easy Installation: The setup process is fairly simple. You can mount the doorbell, connect it to your Wi-Fi, and start using it with minimal hassle. The app is intuitive, making the overall experience user-friendly.Cons:No Chime Included: Unlike some competitors, the REOLINK doorbell doesn’t come with an internal chime. You’ll need to pair it with a compatible chime or use the app to receive alerts on your phone.Cloud Storage Costs: While local storage options are free with the use of a microSD card, the cloud storage service comes with a subscription fee. This may not be ideal for users looking to keep ongoing costs low.Wi-Fi Range Sensitivity: If your Wi-Fi signal is weak or inconsistent, you may experience occasional lag or video dropouts. Ensure your router is within reasonable range of the doorbell for optimal performance.App Lag Occasionally: While the REOLINK app is mostly responsive, there can occasionally be a slight delay when loading live video or receiving notifications.Final Verdict:The REOLINK 2K Video Doorbell Wi-Fi Camera is an excellent option for those looking for a high-quality, feature-rich video doorbell without breaking the bank. Its 2K resolution, wide-angle lens, and night vision are standout features that provide excellent security benefits. The motion detection and two-way audio functions work well, adding to its value. While it may lack an internal chime and the cloud storage has additional costs, the overall package is strong, especially considering its price point. If you’re looking for a reliable and clear video doorbell that’s easy to set up and use, the REOLINK 2K Video Doorbell is a great choice.

    Perfect little camera
I’ve had Nest and Wyze cameras before this one. Those other cameras were tied to a monthly or yearly plan and were cloud dependent. This camera does not need the cloud though it’s an option if you want it. You can either use an SD-Card to store locally or use Frigate or ReoLinks own NVR to store your videos locally. I had this camera integrated with Frigate and Home Assistant in minutes and am very happy with the performance.Make sure on install that you pull the blue tape off the mount as this covers the heat paste as the camera uses the base and door frame as a heat sink. Install went perfectly and paired to my 5Ghz wireless easily.Frigate code:Front_Door: enabled: true onvif: host: 172.17.30.182 port: 8000 user: admin password: password ffmpeg: inputs: – path: rtsp://admin:password@172.17.30.182/Preview_01_main roles: – record – audio – path: rtsp://admin:password@172.17.30.182/Preview_01_sub roles: – detect record: enabled: true retain: days: 7 mode: all events: pre_capture: 10 post_capture: 20 retain: default: 30 mode: motion snapshots: enabled: true detect: enabled: true width: 480 height: 640 fps: 10 stationary: interval: 20 threshold: 50 objects: track: – person – packageHome Assistant picked the camera up after I installed the reolink integration and I just needed to enter the user/pass for it.The Reolink app works great and you can access the streams with VLC or a web browser. There are two streams, fluent is low res for monitoring and detection and main for high res. In the app it defaults to fluent for low res and at first I was thinking that my Wyze V3 cams were outperforming the Reolink but after changing to the main feed I could tell the difference. I use the balanced feed in the app if I even need to use it. I added the cameras in HA for automations but the HA feed is from a Frigate card integration so that I don’t have two streams from the cameras. One stream to Frigate and that duplicates to HA if needed.

This camera system works great with Home Assistant. I don’t have the chime setup but I use my Google home devices setup to chime through Home Assistant. It does have a few second delay but very tolerable. Basically any option or sensor is passed through to HA, therefore automations are very easy to setup with the sensors as triggers.Great buy, would recommend if someone needs a device for HA.

EDIT: had remote viewing issues. fixed with the following:- on your phone, change Access Point Name (under Mobile Networks) to IPv4/IPv6; if APN cannot be edited, you will need to create a new APN and manually enter info (you can copy info from preset APN)- on your ReoLink app, change preferred DNS to static 8.8.8.8- download and log into ReoLink Client on Desktop, Enable UID under Network > Advanced- on your Wifi router, sometimes it’ll have bloated security features that do not allow remote access to your WAN/internet; either turn these off or enable port forwarding for the ReoLink camera (typically port 9000 but you will have to check the network details on the ReoLink desktop client)i can now seamlessly remotely view across all devices connected to 4G/LTEso far loving this camera. standout mentions:- detects approaching human even through the bush covered fence on my porch, and sends a notification IMMEDIATELY – i could catch delivery people if i wanted to, every time- immediately notifies of package and actively marks them with a rectangle on the video and playback- pre and post records so i have full context of EVERY recording- set-up with 128gb FAT32 formatted microSD (use 3rd party software to format SDXC as FAT32), so never have to worry about having recent playback overwritten- great security features including a blaring alarm that can be set up on a schedule with time-delay (if a person stands on the porch for longer than x seconds)- rung doorbell gives you IMMEDIATE option to answer on your phone with video and audio – no 20 second long 5 step process to see who’s at the door like other doorbell camerascons:- storage is local so if someone rips out the camera there goes the footage; can be sidestepped with NVR- no anti-removal alarm; just need a basic pin to remove- settings take a hot minute to load for some reason- mechanical chime no longer working, but there are plenty of digital workarounds that work and sound much bettereither way, i wanted a camera that gives me full, in real-time peace of mind, with pre-motion recordings and immediate push notifications for visitors, and that’s exactly what i got, no frills. love it.

I had been using a Ring for over 4 years, just to this one. It’s half the price and no monthly fee. Better, crisp 2K picture, installs in a breeze. Minute controls over picture quality and detection. Package detection is excellent. Looks fantastic in white too. Need I say more ?

Product perfect for our long narrow porch (white model). Visual is great, sound is even better. Great service, speedy delivery. Have been using for a couple of weeks and no issues what-so-ever. Fairly easy install (through existing doorbell wires). Great customer service when I had a question. Would buy again and would recommend!
