Do not buy! Guaranteed to leave you disappointed
Installed this for the outdoor lights after going through the setup process. All was working great for the first 15 minutes. Then it lost connection. I worked with it to help it get connected again only to have it repeatedly lose connection reconnect and lose connection.

Definitely an outdoor smart plug.
The only thing I have to say about this is that it works great. I had. a regular indoor one that blew up because it got wet and I got this to replace it. I haven’t had the same problem sometimes. it drips on the plug. It’s underneath of my eve in my house So I got this and it’s. seems to work well. You have to use a proprietary app. It will not work with smart things, but Alexa will find it. So you can still use your smart home stuff to control it, which I really like.

Constant pairing headaches
I picked this up because I was looking for an alternative to the outdoor light switches that rely on a dedicated remote control. The price seemed like a bargain but I seen to have gotten what I paid for. The initial setup of the app and device on my network was pretty painless, but I have constantly had to go out into the cold and re-pair my device at best every few days. I could understand if this smart plug was in some far off corner with spotty WiFi reception, but it sits on the opposite side of the wall from where the wireless router is positioned, so connection is definitely not the issue here. Worse still, the app doesn’t always work reliably. Sometimes it can’t find my device, sometimes it refuses to let me attempt to re-pair the device, sometimes when I’m desperate and try to remove the device entirely and start from scratch the app will ignore me outright and I can’t do anything until the app decides it’s willing to cooperate again. If they could iron out the glaring technical issues then I’d be pretty happy with it because it’s just fine when it’s working the way it should be. That said, I would recommend looking into other options first, be it a slightly more expensive smart option, the the decidedly less fancy but far more reliable dedicated remote.

Works but not for heavy duty stuff IMO
I was easily able to pair with this power outlet and control it via home Wi-Fi but I felt it lacks. The cable that is on this unit looks to be fairly thin or light probably a 14/16 Gauge wire. With that being said I would watch what is connected to this later on, but I suggest nothing more than you holiday lights on this.

Easy enough to set up but a lot of hoops to jump through
I got this Alexa-enabled heavy duty outdoor grounded outlet smart plug to be able to have Alexa turn on my patio lights. I have AT&T fiber so I worried a little that this might not connect to my 5g network because it specifically says it’s only for use on a 2.4g network, but it installed via wifi easily. I had to download the app and create an account, then install the plug on my network, and then search for the Merkury Smart skill in the Alexa app and link my accounts. It really was pretty easy, all things considered, but a little time consuming. I am very happy that I can now turn the patio lights on by voice command, through the Alexa app, or through the Merkury app. Very pleased!
