Introduction to Matter What is Matter?
Matter is a new standard for smart home appliances created by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) to make it easier for different smart home devices to communicate with each other. It’s an open-source, royalty-free protocol that focuses on creating interoperability and a consistent set-up process.
What are the advantages of Matter?
Multi-Admin Control
Matter allows you to control devices via multiple smart home systems at the same time through its Multi-Admin feature. For example, you could turn on this BR30 bulb via Google Home and turn it off via Alexa.
Device-to-Device Communication
Matter-supported devices from different brands can seamlessly integrate with each other, enabling you to create multi-device actions or routines that were previously incompatible.
What are the advantages of Matter?
Easy Set up
Matter bridges the gap between ecosystems and standardizes the setup process. Fire up any standard-compliant app and scan the provided QR code, and the configuration is nearly complete.
Local Control
Matter eliminates the need for home devices to connect to the internet individually, as long as a Matter hub/controller is connected. This enables faster interactions with smart home devices, such as turning a smart bulb on/off, even during internet outages.

Works fantastic with Matter via Google Home
The Linkind Matter WiFi Smart Light Bulbs represent a significant advancement in smart home lighting, particularly in their seamless integration with the Matter protocol. These bulbs excel in their ability to connect directly to Matter via Google Home, displaying accurate color and brightness levels without the need for additional apps or complicated setup processes. This sets them apart from competitors like Phillips Hue, which, while technically Matter-compatible, requires users to go through the Phillips Hue app for setup. For true Matter capability, Phillips Hue even necessitates a separate hub, although it’s worth noting that this review is based on experience without the hub. While the native Aidot app offers some useful features, such as electricity usage tracking and access to critical network details about the lights, it does have its drawbacks. The app is somewhat cluttered and not particularly intuitive, with room for improvement in the automation department. Additionally, the presence of numerous ads can detract from the user experience. However, it’s important to stress that exploring the native app was only done after successfully connecting and testing the bulbs via Matter through Google Home.In comparison to other popular smart bulbs like Phillips Hue, Wiz, and Govee, the Linkind bulbs truly shine when it comes to Matter compatibility. While some competitors may offer more polished native apps (though this can be subjective and depend on user preference), the Linkind bulbs outperform them all when connected via Matter through platforms like Google Home. One of the most impressive aspects of these bulbs is the flexibility they offer users. You have the option to use Matter, the native app, or even both simultaneously. This versatility allows users to leverage the strengths of each approach, catering to both those who prefer a streamlined, Matter-only setup and those who want to explore more advanced features through the native app.The ease of connection cannot be overstated. Unlike some competitors that require multiple resets or have a limited window for initial setup, the Linkind bulbs connect seamlessly to Matter. There’s no need to struggle with timing or repeated attempts at pairing, making the setup process remarkably smooth and user-friendly.These bulbs offer impressive RGBTW color-changing capabilities, music syncing features, and compatibility with major smart home ecosystems like Apple Home, Alexa, and SmartThings. With a brightness of 800 lumens and an energy-efficient 9W power consumption, they provide excellent illumination while keeping energy costs low.Linkind includes what they call a “button” with these bulbs, which functions as a remote control. While it does offer some convenience for quick adjustments without using a smartphone or voice commands, it has limitations in its setup options. Ultimately, its functionality may not be compelling enough for all users, and in this case, it was decided not to incorporate it into the smart home setup. In conclusion, the Linkind Matter WiFi Smart Light Bulbs offer unparalleled flexibility and ease of use when it comes to Matter integration, particularly through Google Home. Their ability to function seamlessly without additional apps or hubs, combined with their competitive feature set and performance, makes them a top recommendation for smart home enthusiasts and newcomers alike. The emphasis on Matter compatibility, accurate representation in Google Home, and hassle-free setup process sets these bulbs apart in an increasingly crowded smart lighting market.

Easy to install and hook up to alexa
These are so fun! Very good quality and lighting and with the app, you can do so many colors and themes. They are easy to hook up to Alexa to turn on and off by voice controls. These make me feel so techy- very functional and I will probably buy more for my basement as well.

Linkind does “matter” right.
Linkind’s new WiFi bulb’s (2.4 Ghz) now also communicate with other smart devices via the new “Matter” protocol. Like past Linkind smart bulbs, they communicate and are managed through the Aidot smart home app which can be downloaded for Android or IOS through the app stores for each OS. When using the AIdot app and WiFi to manage these smart bulbs, there is a plethora of features to choose from and that includes a large collection of themes/scenes. They do all of the standard smart bulb things such as changing the color emitted by the bulb (16.7 million colors) to dimming or brightening and turning on or off on a schedule. They can also respond to various automation triggers such as a motion sensor detecting motion and turning on the light to shed some light on what triggered the motion sensor. This type of automation is more of a function of the app and depending on what app you use to monitor your smart devices and control them (Google Home, Aidot, Alexa, Home Assistant etc…) will dictate what type of automation you can do. The Aidot app was created to control smart devices released under several different brand names. Aidot, Linkind and Orein are a few of those brand names. The Aidot app was primarily created to configure and monitor smart devices from 6 or 7 differnt brands and might not work if you are using a brand that is not one of brands it was written for. Fortunately, there is an API that allows you to monitor and control smart devices from these brands via Google Home or Alexa (I do not have an iPhone or Apple computer but I understand that they will work with HomeKit as well. There currently is not an integration into Home Assistant but that is where the new “Matter” protocol comes into play. Utilizing “matter’ to communicate between devices opens up a much larger world of software you can use to monitor and control your devices. I am currently using “matter” and Home Assistant to control these Linkind smart bulbs within Home Assistant. This is done with the Matter Integration within Home Assistant. I can do most things with the “matter” protocol with the exception of the themes/scenes. I really wasn’t interested in those two features anyway and everything else you can do directly with the Aidot app, you can also do with “matter”. It works and it works extremely well which I cannot say for some competitors “matter” enabled smart bulbs. The strength of the color spectrum has always been pretty good with Linkind bulbs. These bulbs carry on Linkind’s strong color display over a wide spectrum of a 16.7 million colors color wheel. They also dim to 1% which is quite dim, and they can get as bright as a standard 60-watt light bulb. All in all, these are really good smart bulbs that will now work with any other “matter” enabled devices and software. Linkind bulbs were always on a short list of best smart bulbs, but the inclusion of “matter” is a game changer. These should be on your short list of bulbs to use in your smart home that don’t require a second mortgage to purchase (yes, I am looking at you, Hue).

Very happy with these lights – very bright and I don’t perceive any flicker. Can’t comment on the longevity but we have these in the kitchen/dinner area for a couple of months so far.
