Customers say

Customers find the electronic switch easy to install and use. It has a humidity sensor that turns on when the humidity level gets high, keeping humidity out of the house. The fan turns on automatically when the humidity reaches a user set point. Many customers find it a good addition to a bathroom, especially for kids’ bathrooms.

Leviton Humidity Sensor Switch for Bathroom Exhaust Fan
I just installed 2 of these in our 2nd floor full baths, and both are working well! They turn on within 30 seconds or so of the showers being turned on in both bathrooms. Both bathrooms have 7.5 ft ceilings, and the fan switches are located no more than a few feet from the tub and shower enclosure.I programmed ours to turn on at the lowest relative humidity (35%) with a 30 minute timeout. Note that after the timeout period shuts the fan off, if the relative humidity (RH) still exceeds the preset percentage limit, the device will reactivate the fan for 50% of the programmed time – so if the timeout is 30 minute and the RH is still too high, the fan will reactivate and run for an additional 15 minutes, which is half the 30 minute timeout I programmed – it will do this 2X if needed, so in that case, the fan will potentially run for a total of 60 minutes if a 30 minute timeout is programmed – programmed time values are 10,20,30 and 45 minutes.Installation is straightforward – I wire nutted the line and load leads on this switch to existing pigtails for the mechanical timer that I replaced with this switch. I added the neutral lead wire from this switch to the existing wire nutted neutral bundle, and the ground lead to the ground bundle.Note that this switch DOES NOT require a neutral, but if no neutral is present, the white sleeve on the neutral lead is removed to re-identify it as a ground wire, and both that wire and the explicit ground lead are both connected to the ground wiring in the box – so while a neutral wire is not required, a ground is required in the box to make this switch work – note that in older homes without an explicit ground wire, sometimes the steel box itself is grounded, so a ground lead could be attached to the box and wire nutted to the re-identified ground lead and explicit ground lead on this switch. There are an impressive number of programmable operating modes and settings within those modes on this switch. Out of the box, the switch is defaulted to operate in bath fan mode, with a 20 minute timeout period and a 50% relative humidity setting, which likely will work fine for many folks. As mentioned, I overrode the default timeout from 20 minutes to 30 minutes, and the relative humidity from 50% to 35% – the programming is a bit tricky and may take a couple passes – best bet if you mess up is to let the programming period timeout so that the settings aren’t saved, and then re-enter programming mode after your “practice run” after you have the hang of programming it.Keep in mind too that the switch can be operated manually, and will run for the programmed time when turned on; the automatic operation can be disabled by pressing the bottom of the switch for 5 seconds, and re-enabled by pressing the top of the button.

    Worked well.
Easy installation and simple to test and operate. Remediated excessive moisture from bathroom due to tenants not using exhaust fan.

    Easy to install, works great!
My kids have a jack & jill style bathroom with a very small “room” between the two sink areas that contains just the toilet and tub/shower. It gets VERY steamy VERY fast if you forget to turn the fan on… which my kids are famous for doing. I had to rearrange because the fan was in the middle of a triple switch, one for the fan, one for the fan light, and one for the shower light. It was very simple to remove the existing fan switch and slide the light over to the middle position before wiring the new switch to the far left position. After only a couple of minutes, and when I could feel the steam starting to build up from the hot shower, the fan turned on automatically! I shut the shower off and opened the doors and the fan cut off soon after. I’m very impressed, I may install them in our other bathrooms but the kids bathroom was the priority.

Great idea, but needs a second revision
This works great for its intended purpose, but it really needs a little solid state storage. Programming is a little bit of a hassle with it only having two button, but it wouldn’t be a problem as long as if it would remember its programming through power flickers or outages. It is a real bathroom saver though, especially for people like me who forget to turn on the fan when getting in the shower. Installing it was as easy as any other switch. Value for money is fantastic though. You’ll save money over time with this. It kicks on with speed as soon as the humidity gets above the set level. Best part is, you leave it on to do its thing and it will turn off when the room has dried out, so no more replacing bathroom fans every couple of years from over use.

    Seems to work well
I got this to use in a small bathroom in an airbnb that we rent out. Our guests obviously don’t give a crap about our property (why would they) so they often steam the room up and then close the door on their way out and the moisture has rusted our light fixture (only 2 years old) and caused the paint on the ceiling to start peeling. This thing automatically turns on the heater and the fan just a few seconds after you turn the hot water on, which will hopefully warm it up in there so they spend less time in the hot water and also sucks out the moisture. Definitely very happy with this purchase. It will pay for itself many times over. We’re also getting some to put in our primary home in the bathrooms our kids use.

    Great for kids bath
Has setting to control run time and sensitivity. Easy to install and works as described. Best part is that it turns off automatically so you can leave it running after showering.

    Good for smaller bathrooms
This switch works good in smaller bathrooms. I tried it in our Master bathroom and the operation was inconsistent

turns on for no reason despite program settings
This is great at detecting humidity during a shower but it constantly turns on regardless of humidity or programmed settings. A hefty switch and installation cost coupled with electricity use makes me give it a thumbs down. Return!

The installation was relatively straightforward, no problems. The switch is doing exactly what I wanted: triggering the fan automatically in a bathroom during showers, with manual triggering as desired. There are three separate settings that you can adjust on the switch, all done by pressing the button in different ways and watching the responses on the LED. That’s new to me for an in-wall switch. I took the time to go through all the settings, I ended up not changing any from the defaults. I do have to remember to save the instructions, either paper or PDF, in case I ever want to change the settings.

I avoided pulling the trigger until the price dropped but now I wish I’d gone for it sooner. As easy as a lightswitch to install – be sure to turn off power at the breaker before you start. You do need a white neutral, and have extra marrettes or wire couplers on hand. It worked great out of the box, no adjustment needed. Shower starts, fan starts a few minutes later. Afterwards it turns off again once the room is dry. Simple tech that just works.

very easy install as long as you have a neutral. take a minute and read the programming instructions. if you do, install should be fairly straightforward. i’m really happy with it.

As a dad worried about the mould potential coming from a kids bathroom with no natural ventilation, I wanted this to be reliable for clearing the moisture particularly in winter. I was relieved to discover that even a luke warm bath with the door open generated enough moisture.to set it off for 5mins. Even a warm water face wash in the sink was enough to trigger it. Of course there is a way to manually adjust the sensor but the out of the box setting worked for my home

Easy to use. The fan comes on when the humidity in bathroom builds up and automatically turns off when dry. You can manually turn on and off as well. Easy to install in an existing box. The default settings worked for us.
