Reasonably Priced Protection!
I replaced a standard outlet with this Surge Supressor unit, giving the sensitive electronics plugged in there another level of protection from voltage spikes and surges.

Worked great in protecting my security camera
I noticed that when I use my corded angle grinder in my garage, many times my 3 security cameras don’t function correctly when I’m done. Power cycling the cameras will correct any issues.I’m not really surprised as the outlets for the cameras were added by taping off the only existing outlet in the garage and my electrician friend warned me running certain corded power tools could cause my motion lights (also incorrectly taped off the same outlet) to turn on or flicker. My old corded Craftsman drill used to cause my motion lights to flicker.I have a degree in electronics so I understand why. Also, no problem as most of my tools are cordless now and I also run most of the corded ones (i.e. table saw) on a completely different circuit behind the house. As a test, I decided to replace the outlet a security camera is plugged into with this Leviton outlet. It’s been installed for a few months now and I’ve done a bunch of work with the angle grinder plugged into the same gfci outlet that I’ve always used it on. The camera has been 100% perfect. The other cameras are unplugged so I don’t cause them any harm. I don’t want to replace the outlets they are on since they are gfci outlets.Planning to convert an old extension cord with an outlet box with the Leviton inside so I should be able to run any of my power tools on any outlet and have surge, emi and rfi protection upstream of the power tool.I got my gray one for about $16. Recently It’s been anywhere from $20 to $35 (current price on 7/24). Price bounces up and down according to price tracking website.

This is a must have for ALL wall mounted flat panel TVs
Your TV needs a surge protector plain and simple. Without one you are taking a risk. If you mounted your TV on the wall and plugged it directly into a outlet then you are not protected from surges. It is very easy to swap out an existing outlet but the true purpose and proper use of this outlet is to have an electrician install it directly behind your wall mounted TV so that you do not see the cord. Technically by law you can not run your normal power cord through the wall to hide it so it either has to drop down along the wall and get plugged in below or you need to have an electrician install an outlet behind it.As far as quality goes this is NOT the best out there. BUT it is the best when you figure value/quality and ease of install. Some of the others are not an outlet they are just the surge protector and need to be installed with an outlet in a double box. Some are too deep to install easily. The price on Amazon isn’t the best… in fact you might be able to get this for less at your local hardware store but with no taxes and free shipping and since time is money it might make sense to pay a small amount more and have it shipped to your door.

Difficult to Install on 20A Circuit
This surge protected outlet is a great idea for wall hanging flat screen TVs or anywhere surge protection is desired without an external, bulky surge protector. The appearance is clean, and the green indicator light is always on, assuring a functioning, surge protected power source. The outlet installation is straightforward, but be aware that if you are installing on a 20 Amp circuit with thicker gauge wire, installed the wire on the outlet is difficult. For most who have 15 Amp circuits, you should have no problem. I realize the product description clearly stated 15 Amp for this outlet, but I couldn’t find a 20 Amp in wall surge so this had to do.

Excellent just rainy
Works very well. Todd is in the two existing outlets in the same box. Keep in mind if you tie into existing outlet down stream, the further you go the less protection you get.

Industrial and functional. I’m happy with it.
I never write a review before having a reasonable time to test and verify a product, and pledge to make my reviews ones you can trust. This review was created 6/28/24.I’m an autistic IT Specialist with nearly 30 years experience and an avowed nerd. I purchased this surge suppressing outlet 10/2023 to protect my internet components (router and FIOS ONT power connections). It has been running since 11/2023, through storms and power outages. 7 months in use and everything is, so far, still fine and fully functional. Conclusion: While an electrical issue strong enough to trip or burn out the suppressor has not occurred, I have no reason to think that this outlet will “just fail”. I like the state indicator so that I can tell, at a glance, if I need to replace the outlet. No issues thus far, and would buy again.

Convenient Surge Protection
I purchased this for an outlet behind a dresser on the only wall in a bedroom convenient for a flat screen TV. It would have been more cumbersome and unsightly to use a power surge strip. And, using a plug-in, single or multiple surge protector would have extended the dresser away from the wall further, plus adding additional distance when the TV and satellite receiver was plugged into that. The surge protection is rated at 720 Joules (from Leviton’s website) and is not stated on the box or in the enclosed product use instructions. It’s surge protection usefulness is stated as 10 years, OR, as long as the green light on the face of the outlet is ON. If the green light is no longer visible, there is no surge protection. However, power to the outlet is still on but should be replaced to guarantee surge protection. On my installation, I can see the green light from the side of the dresser, for more difficult areas to see, there is an outlet with an audible alarm, but twice the cost. The 15 Amp model for use with 14 gauge wire, can be stripped to push into the connections on the back, and it can be wired to power downline outlets in the circuit. There’s also a Tamper Proof model that has the letter “T” in front of the model number if small children become curious, like to the green light.

Bought a few and installed them to protect expensive devices. For some reason, we live in an area where we often lose electricity or either the electricity is very unstable. On one occasion, before we had these installed, there was a storm and electricity flashed a few times and damaged our refrigerator. Installed these and although we had some more episodes of electricity problems and flashing, our new fridge survived. Electronics device today are very sensitive and having these saved many of our devices.

We had a new microwave that kept giving nuisance ARC fault breaker trips. After a thorough investigation by local utilities and electricians it was determined that the electronics in the microwave were sending just enough interference to trip the breaker. The electrician suggested we try the surge protector above and it works like a charm. No more issues.
