Great once setup
These 3 way switches are great once you get them wired up. I didn’t have experience installing 3 way switches, though I have installed many of the single switch TP Link switches. The first 3 way switch took a while but most of the others went much quicker. These switches are pretty meaty, particularly the main switch. I had to modify the inside of one of my electric boxes in my 1950s home to squeeze switch in, and for a garage application with metal box cover, had to trim away at the mounting tabs to fit.Biggest issue I had was that I installed the 4th or 5th three way switch and got flashing red circle upon startup. There was no way the wiring was wrong, it was super obvious in both electric boxes what went where. So I put in a new TP Link 3 way switch and still got same error. Disappointed, I tried swapping the traveler wires on one of the switches and miraculously, problem solved. The orientation of the two traveler wires is not supposed to matter, don’t know what happened there but at least it works now. If you’re sure the wires are correctly oriented but you have red circle, maybe test switching travelers on one of the switches.Once they are set up, they work wonderfully. Love the white LED ring on the front so you can find the switch in the dark. The LED ring is a slightly different color/brightness than TP Link’s single switches, my wife wishes they were the same. Tons of options for scheduling and so forth. So far, couple weeks, very reliable – I’ve always had a good experience with TP Link’s switches.Part of my 5-star review is that I’ve wanted a matching 3 way dimmer switch relative to TP Link’s very good single dimmer switches, so really happy to finally have a solution for all my applications. At the sale cost of ~$36 per 3 way switch kit and reasonable simplicity to install myself, it is a fantastic value for us to have remote control of everything.

Wow, welcome to the 21st century
Wow, leave it to tp to come up with this amazing product.Easy to install, durable and, simply, the best product of its kind in the market, believe you me, Iâve tried so many different products and returned them all after major disappointments. With this, I feel spoiled and cannot stop myself from calling on Alexa to turn on then off or dim and brighten the ceiling light controlled by this smart, sleek and durable dimmer, I give this product 10 out 5 stars.BS: follow the wiring instructions carefully then you wonât have any difficulties setting up this amazing dimmer, also you have to have the pair dimmers installed (main and satellite). Do not listen to some YouTubers who claim you can use only one, this model requires the two sides installed. You will be amazed when you pair it with Alexa. All day Iâm calling for Alexa to turn on, off, dim or brighten my living room ceiling fixture, Iâm going insane.

Works great, love it.
I installed this kit for my front porch. With one switch inside the house at the top of the stairs and the other outside at the bottom of the stairs.Make sure you read the directions and watch a video. Installation was not for the novice. Going through the setup in the app is awkward.Love the ability to program a schedule for the porch lights to come on and off.

Works great but needs either HomeKit or Matter support
We love how we can turn out the lights over our kitchen island without having to get up from our couch. We love the way the lights can be dimmed either from an app or from the switch itself. We love how there’s a small white ring-shaped LED on the switch that you can see when the lights are off. It disappears when you turn the lights on. It is a very dim, unobtrusive ring of light, but is plenty bright enough when the room is dark. The same light ring comes on in orange or green when you program the switch in the Kasa app. They were fairly easy to wire-up, install, and program. I’m a fairly competent DIYer, but I have a brother-in-law who’s an electrician, so that definitely helped my confidence level. The system isn’t perfect, though. It works with Alexa and some of the other “smart home” apps, but not Apple’s HomeKit. Granted, way more people use Alexa and other products, so there isn’t a real need for TP-Link to bring out the 3-way switch in the Apple format. However, there is a new standard “communication protocol” (not sure of that term) that has been rolling out called Matter. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Matter is a communication “standard” that all the MAJOR manufacturers of smart devices have adopted to allow these devices to talk to each other. The idea is, you can have an Apple TV 4K and use it to operate smart items that were originally only set up to use Alexa, or one of the other systems. I may not have all the “jargon” right, but I think I am communicating the general idea of Matter correctly.Kasa have just come out with new single-pole switches that use the Matter standard. I bought and installed two of them on some of our other kitchen lights. They were as easy to program as the 3-way switches I’m currently reviewing. Now I can use the Kasa app OR the Apple HomeKit app (and my friend Siri) to turn those lights on and off. I’m hoping TP-Link will come up with a way to convert these 3-way switches in the future, but I don’t know if it’s possible. I asked, but TP-Link have no comment about their plans (which makes me think they can’t or won’t be doing so).So 2 thumbs-up on the 3-way Kasa light switches. The reason I didn’t give a 5-star rating is because of the need for a neutral wire in the switch box and how big the bodies of the switches themselves are. I had to dig out the bundle of stiff, 27 year old, 12-gauge, solid wires, separate them, and reconnect the bundle of neutral wires with the neutral wire from the switch, using the biggest wire nut I’ve EVER seen. Then I had to do the same thing with the bundle of ground wires that were jammed in the back of the box too. The extra wires and bigger wire nuts made it very hard to get the switches into the box. Putting all that aside, I’m impressed by the switches and glad I did it.

Best Instructions for 3-way Switch
I have installed several 3 way switches over the years. Each time, I struggle to follow the instructions, trying to figure out which wires are line, load and travelers. Kasaâs step by step instructions available in the app are excellent. Other companiesâ instruction just tell you where to connect line, load, traveler, etc. where Kasa explains in detail how to identify which wire is which and how to test if your correct. The pairing to WiFi was easy, setting the dimmer levels also a breeze. The integration to SmartThings also very straightforward and so far works with no issues.Overall a great product at a good price point!

Easy to connect anything (plugs/switches/etc) once u have the app setup. Motion switches r great and can set timing on them real easy. Only issue which is minor is u can’t arrange the order of your switches… to do it u have to add a numeri al digit to get the room switches to be in the order u want them to appear. (Ie: Living Room Light, Upstairs Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen, etc… need to put 1. 2. 3. 4…. in front of the rooms to get them to go in the order u wish to see them on the app. Not a biggee but would be better if u could just arrange them on the app with out numerical input.

Like the other reviews say, the switches work flawlessly and the V2 are even easier to install than the first gen.I did my entire basement (6 kits) with these last March and was finally about to complete the rest of my main floor (7 more kits). When I went to purchase I was shocked to find that the price had increase exponentially over 40% from this past March! I did a quick search around and it seems they are in low supply right now which is likely why the seller is price gouging. Avoid right now until they are back in supply or get ready to pay a fortune.Coincidentally, Amazon has launched their own smart 3-way dimmer but unfortunalty, has zero support and functionality with anything other than Alexa.*Edit less than a week later the price dropped from $109-44. Worth the buy now 100%!!

1. Step-by-step instructions through the app are well written and super helpful.2. The label stickers for the wiring made things a lot easier.3. The Kasa app as a whole is very well done.4. Dimmer calibration is a first I’ve seen in smart dimmer switches and makes it a lot better than those without.5. Configurable fade in & out speeds is nice to have.6. Configurable long-press option is nice to have.IMPORTANT NOTE for Google Home users: Google Home sees this as a “switch”. Edit that setting and change it to a “light”. As a switch, it only lets you turn it on and off. As a light, it also lets you adjust the brightness. Thanks to another reviewer here for pointing this out.

This KS230 is an interesting piece of kit. It comes with a primary/master and secondary switches. The primary/master is the only one that requires a neutral wire. The primary/master switch is massive. It’s roughly the same size as the v1/v2 HS200 Kasa switches from years ago. I placed it inside of a 2 gang box and needed to cut protruding studs in the box with an oscillating tool so the switch would fit.Edit: I also purchased an HS210 kit 3 way set with 2 3-way switches. I read that you were able to use 1 of the switches for a 3-way set up, which I thought was really convenient. I wired up one of the HS210 as the main side (connected to line/hot) with my secondary/dumb switch at the load side. The switches worked as expected when they were toggled physically. However the HS210 couldn’t keep track of the ON/OFF state when the load-side switch was used.I had to pair the second HS210 in the kit at the load side before it worked as expected.Setting up the switch in the iOS Kasa app is a breeze. The first-time setting up the minimum dimmable level for the fixtures doesn’t seem to work correctly. The second time around, it manages to get the minimum right.I have this and nearly 20 other Kasa switches running in Homebridge and Node-Red and they’re great.
