Great smart switch
This switch is great! Allows me to dim the bathroom light in the morning or set up a routine for auto off. This is a great help for a house full of people who forget to turn the lights off! Very easy to install for having no knowledge of electrical work. Great value!

Great in our lounge
We have a couple of these, and they really are great. The dimmer buttons work very smoothly, but unlike a dial, you only get the levels they have set for you. It’s not a huge deal, but if you were using this to get an “exact” brightness, you might struggle. Otherwise, installation is simple, and they just work. There have never been Wi-Fi issues; the app works great, and Home Assistant loves them. I am very happy with this switch and brand overall.

Great item for a great price! Cheaper and has more features than Lowes!
I recently added recessed LED lights in my room and was looking for a dimmer switch (not necessarily looking for a smart one at the time), so I went to Lowe’s and was shocked that the cheapest most basic dimmer switch they had was freaking $30, and their smart switches push anywhere from $80+ !! Nope! Not gonna work for me chief. So then the good ole’ Amazon search came in and I found this TPLink Kasa dimmer for only $20 AND ITS A SMART DIMMER?? Say no more, I bought it.Ease of installation is extremely straight forward (even for those who are afraid of DIY, the directions are extremely easy to follow and have photos and videos online if needed), I got this bad boy plugged in and working within 5 minutes, synced up to their smart app on my iPhone and linked to the Home(homekit) app. I tell ya what, I didn’t think I would like having a smart switch, but it’s awesome to be able to set a schedule for a light. Like for my situation, I had it set to SLOWLY fade INTO light at 5:00AM when I get ready for work. It’s a huge relief slowly waking up to light rather than just flick on the light and BOOM BRIGHTNESS BLINDNESS. It’s also pretty neat when I’m across the room away from the switch I can talk to my iPhone and say “Hey siri, dim my lights by 30%” and it happens immediately without delay. I freaking love this thing and absolutely recommend for others to try it!Now the ONE problem that I ran into in the two weeks that I’ve had this switch is, at ONE point in time the switch “lagged out” or disconnected itself from my phone and was unresponsive. I removed the faceplate from the switch and for whatever reason it immediately linked to my phone and was working perfectly again. All in all, I give this bad boy a 9/10 as it’s extremely budget friendly, especially when looking for a smart switch that has this amount of features!

Feels solid and on/off dimming is nice!
Simple to install and is compatible with Apple HomeKit with no issues. I like how the lights dim on and off when pressing the switch (nice touch). Works great and great value!

Great if it works, but terrible manufacturer customer service
Got this single one and a 3 pack to install 4 dimmer switches. 3 of them worked totally fine and hooked up to wifi no problem. This one didn’t. Tried tons of things, reseting it, putting error internet temporarily on only 2.4 gHz, switching it with another switch would never connect to the internet only connected to my blue tooth and setup always failed. The switch still worked but not the smart capabilities. I had registered with manufacturer and tried to do their warranty. They made me jump through lots of hoops to get them to send me a replacement device, but then wanted me to pay money first to send them the defective one. I no longer had the old switch this was on which would mean I would have to go buy a switch to use temporarily until I got a new smart switch. I opted to do the return through Amazon which is free drop off at locations after I ordered and received a replacement.Customer service with manufacturer was not very responsive and seemed to be trying to over complicate the troubleshooting directions in hopes you wouldn’t follow one step and they could get out of replacing. Was disappointed that they wanted me to pay for having to send them back their defective product.

Solid smart switch
Overall itâs a pretty good smart switch. The installation is fairly easy and it was my first time doing any electrical home work. Took me about an hour. Youâll need a contactless voltage tester, so Iâd suggest getting one along with this switch. Make sure your switch box has a neutral wire before you order it. Most new homes have it.The docked star is for the app. When I first tried, the switch just would not connect to my wifi. I followed all the troubleshooting steps and nothing worked. I dug through some reddit threads and found that some people had similar issues on iPhones. The suggested solution was simply to restart your phone and try again. Shockingly that worked. No idea whatâs going on with their app, but everything worked perfectly after I restarted my phone. Devs: you should add this as a troubleshooting step. Donât leave us hanging. If I hadnât searched reddit I wouldâve never figured this out.Edit: The Kasa devices are now compatible with the Tapo app, which is far superior. Setting up anything through Tapo is seamless, so I’m giving the star back. I’ve been using it for a couple months and it’s been perfect, even through a couple power outages.
