GE Enbrighten Add On Switch with QuickFit and SimpleWire, GE Z-Wave and GE Zigbee Smart Lighting Controls, Works with Alexa, Google Assistant, SmartThings, Wink, NOT A STANDALONE SWITCH, 47186, Black

Expand your control with the GE-branded Enbrighten Add-on Switch with QuickFit and SimpleWire. When paired with a GE-branded smart switch or dimmer, including Z-Wave and Zigbee controls, the hardwired device completes multi-switch systems. Wirelessly operate and schedule indoor or outdoor fixtures from up to five locations for effortless management of your home.
WHY AN ADD-ON SWITCH – Add-on switches allow GE-branded in-wall smart controls to operate correctly in multi-switch configurations. By connecting directly to the smart device, the add-on mirrors its functions. This feature allows you to dim lights, adjust fan speeds, turn fixtures ON/OFF and more based on the capabilities of the primary smart device. While the add-on switch is not a stand-alone device, it provides continued use of your favorite smart-device functions from multiple locations.
ADVANCED DESIGN 2ND-GENERATION MODEL – Improved components reduced the housing depth by up to 20% compared to previous models and eliminated the need for breakoff tabs. Quick Fit enhancements are the ideal smart solution for older-style switch boxes, multi-gang configurations or any other application with limited space. Dual ground ports, which are offset to avoid switch box mounting screws, support daisy-chaining in multi-switch setups.
ULTIMATE FLEXIBILITY – Compatible with any GE-branded smart control to operate lights or devices from multiple locations. The add-on switch sends commands to the connected in-wall Z-Wave or Zigbee switch, dimmer or fan control for full use of home automation features in 3-way configurations. For easy installation, the add-on switch only requires neutral, traveler and ground wires. It cannot be used as a standalone switch.
COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL APPLICATIONS – Supports 120VAC and 277VAC for universal use in a variety of systems. The switch is suitable for use in common home 120VAC or light-commercial 277VAC applications. Must be paired with a 277VAC smart device – model 43072 or 43074 – for light-commercial use. Easily replace any in-wall control in a multi-switch configuration to remotely turn on or off and set programs for a wide range of fixtures.
EASY INSTALLATION – Requires indoor in-wall installation with hardwired connections. NEUTRAL WIRE REQUIRED. Black paddle only. Wall plate not included. Works with LED, CFL, incandescent and halogen bulbs as well as other fixtures based on the primary device functionality.

    Very easy to install.
Used several of these along with master switches to replace 3 and 4 way switches currently in my home. Once I figured out that master switch should be wired as if a single switch to the circuit, and that you could then add additional add on switches with just the traveler wire (plus neutral and ground) the installations went very smoothly The extra wires left from standard switch switches allowed me to repurpose a wire for neutral.

    Works great
Easy to install and works great to mirror the button presses of your primary smart switch. I installed with Inovelli Red Dimmer switches. A couple clarificaitons: these are manufactured by JASCO. Item 46199 includes both the almond and white paddles, 47334 (this item) includes the white paddle only, and 47333 includes the almond paddle only. Others are 47189 black paddle, 47190 brown paddle, and 47191 ivory paddle. When I purchased 47334 I saved almost $2/switch over 46199 as I did not need the almond paddle as well.

    Not Necessarily Compatible
There are different models of add-on switches and you have to be careful to select the correct model that is compatible with your primary switch. Unfortunately, what-works-with-what is not well-documented anywhere.

    Enbrighten is the worst
I read the item description before I purchased it. No where did it say it needed a hub inorder to work. But that’s no problem, I will buy the hub. But enbrighten does not sell a hub and there customer service could not tell me what to buy. I shopped around and couldn’t find a hub that was compatible with enbrighten products. Had the change to lutron switches instead.

This switch looks like it has 4 connectors, but it only has 2. Carefully review your requirements.
The pictures are deceptive. It looks like the switch has 4 connectors, but it only has 2. Check your requirements carefully. I had to return mine.

Who’s that man behind the curtain?
It seems that GE is getting away from Zigbee and is focusing on Zwave and WiFi. I think Zigbee is better for larger installations with lots of competing smart home features. Of course, GE doesn’t actually make these. Jasco makes them. In case you don’t know who they are, they have been making electrical control equipment for a long time and have a good reputation for reliability.

    GE Smart Switches
GE has moved away from expensive packaging (it is not what is shown) and is mass producing the switches. Hopefully, this will result in a lower price …someday.I purchased 18 switches and two were bad upon delivery. This is very disappointing because my experience over the past 4 years has been very positive. Not a single issue until the latest delivery.

Overall I am pleased with these switches but they are a little more difficult to wire up. (Instructions are provided)

Works great even with older Zwave non-plus GE main switch, and the lower profile add-on switch makes it easier to install in a 3 gang box with two other deep older Z-wave switches.

When I ordered this I thought that by “Not a standalone” they meant that it required a zigbee/z-wave hub to control them, as opposed to wi-fi controlled system that works directly off of your router. It was a reasonable assumption after all since the item name does mention “z-wave/zigbee”.However this item does NOT have any z-wave or zignee capability. It is meant to be used in tandem with a controller switch (not included) that has that capability. Why put “Z-wave/zigbee” in the item name if the item being sold doesn’t have that feature?I returned the item immediately and got a refund. Don’t get misled.

Hard to believe that something simple as a switch could be DOA, but there you have it.
