    No Issues. Works perfectly
I use this product with the Google Home eco system. Was looking for a switch that did not need a negative wire and no additional piece to plug into a near by outlet. This met the those requirements. Almost didn’t purchase after reading reviews stating product randomly activates/deactivates and intermittentoperation. I have 2 of them now and planning to purchase more. Never had issue with intermittent operation. Works every time. Light did turn off “randomly”… noted the switch was located where there is low activity. Looked in the cync app and found a set of options for motion control. Turned it off and never had that issue again. One switch controls six lights on one circuit a d another 3 lights on one circuit. Works great. Put the adapter that comes with the switch on only one light. No issues.Love the way they look, ease of installation, and google home automation.

Really good solution to smarten up old homes
I live in a house built in the late 50s with very few updates done in the electrical systems. Wiring is hot, return, and grounded (MOSTLY). Just shameful. When we bought it, we took a few months to gut the kitchen and run a few electrical updates on the main floor before we moved in. But we didn’t even consider running a neutral wire throughout, so lighting updates were smart at the bulb, not the switch. With our current renovation of the bathroom, the lighting had to be smart from the switch, since demand for light, night light effects, etc. requires an immediate response from a switch, but is great when smart, as well. Most units with smart features, motion sensing, and dimming capabilities, normally require a neutral wire. This switch does not. Compatible with Alexa, Google, etc, it also has great controls for motion sensing — like, how sensitive do you want it to be, and whether it will turn on when there’s already adequate daylight. Works like a charm!Currently (during testing) I have a simple lamp fixture wired in, using the socket adapter to an old dumb, undimmable LED. It’s working flawlessly.I’ll update once I get the full lighting system installed (5 dimmable LED puck lights, low draw).App and Alexa setup were quick and easy, though, yes, you will have to set up YET ANOTHER third-party account to link to Alexa through GE’s Cync app. Not my favorite, and I really wish there was one app to connect allllllllll the smart home stuff. So far this works very well.

3 wire (no neutral) motion dimmer has been a major headache & disappointment
The Cync/C by GE motion dimmer smart WiFi switch that is the 3 wire no neutral wire required version has been a major headache & quite disappointing. I purchased 3 on/off toggles (3 wire) and no issues with those (besides the fact I couldn’t use my existing WiFi or zwave smart light bulbs it led dumb light bulbs)… but the 2 motion dimmers (3 wire) have been quite frustrating. First off there’s an adapter that must go on the light fixture & you can screw 1 light bulb into it (only need 1 adapter per light fixture not per each light bulb). Second regular led & smart light bulbs didn’t work and would blink on the fritz. Third con is the set up was tedious & kinda a PITA compared to all other smart home tech I’ve had experience with (which is a lot as I’m a smart home nerd). Fourth is that they kinda do the non compatible light bulb thing to force you to buy their Cync/c by ge smart light bulbs. Ok so I did so and I no longer experience any blinking but I’m still using an adapter with their c by ge smart light bulb on the fixture. Fifth con is that not all light fixtures will fit with the adapter. For instance I have some generic “boob” ceiling lights and the adapter piece made the light bulb stick out further that the glass bowl covering placement so I couldn’t use it with certain light fixtures. Sixth issue is that the light was constantly turning off and on when in the room for a couple seconds. Then at times the switch wasn’t picking up motion quick enough. I have a strong feeling there is no occupancy sensor in it & only a motion or vacancy. I liked that the app featured a setting where it will adjust due to the amount of natural light in the room BUT they didn’t have a setting of when to turn off or how long to keep on, etc. when triggered. Something so simple should be added. They only offer this for a manual physical press of the circle button. I was so excited about this switch for a home like mine that doesn’t always have a neutral wire in my light switch boxes. It’s definitely fallen short for me. I think I might remove and go back to regular occupancy Lutron light switches. At least I wouldn’t be stuck in the dark or about to have a seizure from the constant on & off. Maybe firmware or software updates will resolve some of the technical issues someday I hope.

Maybe the best Smart Switches available
I have now completed installation of C by GE (aka Cync) smart switches in my house (~20 of them) and my father’s house (~15 of them). Between the two houses, we have 3-way and single-pole; mostly 4-wire but some 3-wire; dimmers, dimmers with motion sensor, and simple toggle switches. Grant it, the biggest headache is not GE’s problem when the previous owner had multiple breakers wired into one outlet box (happened in both my parents and my own house!). Solved but long tedious process. On the GE products, we are very happy we have them and functions reasonably well. The biggest complaint is the wifi connectivity can be a little flaky. The software has a bug in one of the firmware and a workaround is available but not all my switches upgrade to it so only some of my switches have access to the workaround.Support is excellent. I had a lot of user error and the support was available all the time (late nights and weekends), patient and very knowledgeable. Even worked through issues that were not my fault (i.e. limitations or bugs in the product) and helped find workarounds.

That switch doesn’t connect properly with Alexa! Well, it does, but you can’t access it with Alexa! Totally defeats the purpose! Apart from that it loses connection with its own app frequently! And the bad thing is… It works on its own like crazy! The whole night it keeps turning on most of the night! I don’t know if it catches demons or spirits moving around the toilet! But it’s really annoying!I am definitely getting a standard non-smart dimmer for the bathroom, and forget about the whole hassle!Do NOT recommend it!

after months of waiting for this product to hit the market, OH BOY! OH BOY!, I think a lot of it has to do with covid but overall beware of “the fine print” before you buy this product. I successfully installed the unit follow all intruccions but it will not connect to my wifi.1. in the box specifies for a 2.4g network, don’t be fooled by this, find on the GE site the compatibly list of ROUTERS that this devices will work with if your current router is not in the list do not waste your time.2. they only provide you with 1 bulb adapter and they do not sell more, meaning if you got a light fixture that requires more than one bulb you’re screwed ; it will work with regular halogen bulbs but if you’re like me and have LED bulbs you are going to need the adapters .OVERALL, it is very restricted, and not convenient to all customers

I have Leviton switches throughout my house, however my basement is without a neutral wire. I just installed a pair of these and super impressed with the grouping functions. It also has a lower profile than Leviton so I found them an easier fit. Work great. Set up easy using the new Cync app and works great with Alexa. Just ordered another two to finish off the basement. They’re a bit pricey, but highly recommend if you do not have a neutral wire.

The initial setup was a little confusing as it needed a software update to rectify issues. The motion sensor is okay, my other China brand seems to work better, expected higher end. The motion sensor is not separate from the unit for motion routines. Works with Assist services. Completely stopped working. Won’t buy again.

UPDATE: After a month of usage, it made short circuit internally with no warning or security mechanism to protect it. Almost got everything on fire. I NO longer recommend it.—–I thought the cause for no-neutral smart homes was lost, with not many options and super expensive ones for whatever is available. This was a great surprise, great ingeniosity was used to design this product. For sure, it’s not perfect and has its limitations, but installed in a 2 wire box? It does more and works better than I expected!
