Keep a close eye on your home around the clock, and receive rich notifications on your iPhone when something is up. Eve Outdoor Cam packs advanced technology into a sleek metal enclosure and is designed exclusively for Apple HomeKit Secure Video, built from the ground up to keep your data secure and your private space safe. When the motion sensor detects any activity, Eve Outdoor Cam turns on the dimmable floodlight automatically. And with a wide 157° field of view and night vision, you can keep a close eye on every corner of your home day and night and in pin-sharp detail with HD live video streaming and recording. When you view the video stream from your Eve Outdoor Cam while out and about, you communicate back to base, directly over an end-to-end encrypted connection. You can also choose when you want to be notified and if you want to make recordings whenever something is up or only if people, pets, vehicles, or packages are detected. Feel safe knowing that video footage is analyzed in the privacy of your own four walls, not some random cloud in the ether. Your recordings are stored securely and fully encrypted in your iCloud, and your camera’s live stream never reaches the cloud – not even the iCloud.

Great Outdoor Camera
This is a great product, easy to install with the App as long as your near a WiFi signal. Easy to setup streaming on your iCloud account and you can stream through all motion detection events. No monthly streaming fee if you discount your iCloud account which is pretty cheap. Physically it is a little difficult to mount and does not accommodate your standard round metal junction box so if your planning on mounting near one of these youâll have to remove it. Iâve used other cameraâs for HomeKit and their all terrible, intermittent streaming, login issues, constantly logging you out, wonât stream captured events, the list goes on. This camera has NONE of those problems, it works reliably and flawlessly and I think is the only one that actually streams to iCloud which is secure and reliable. Great purchase and buying more of them!

Poor Night Image Quality. Poor Build Quality
Camera installation is ridiculously difficult for as simple as it *should be*. Iâve done numerous electric installs, including spotlights and this was very difficult when trying to fit all the wiring under the cover. Image quality was not very good, mainly at night. And build quality is apparently poor because within three weeks, the camera had water/moisture intrusion and the camera shorted out and stopped working. Eve tech support was also useless because it didnât recognize my serial number.

Solid HomeKit Camera
If you’re looking for a HomeKit Secure Video camera that works right out of the box without having to sign up for some third-party app/service, this is the camera you’ll want. I see some folks have complained about getting these installed in North American homes, but it appears Eve now supplies the adapter plate in the box from the get-go instead of having to request it separately from their website. (That said… if you bought one & it didn’t include the adapter plate, you can reach out to Eve’s customer service. They’ll hook you up with one for free if you’re in the US.)Installation was straightforward enough. Post-installation, the camera’s been flawless with no downtime whatsoever. As always, a smart home with smart accessories requires good WiFi coverage. I have my home blanketed with Nest WiFi points, for reference. HomeKit is running in my home with an Apple TV 4K acting as the hub (via WiFi, not ethernet). If you are having WiFi issues, try to improve your WiFi signal where the camera is located.Build quality is also solid. It seems robust & well-designed to withstand the elements. The camera doesn’t go offline even in the extreme summer heat we just dealt with in the US Southeast. That’s been an issue with my Logitech Circle View Doorbell, so I’m glad to see Eve accounted for high temperature operation.Video quality could be better, but I chalk that up to a HomeKit Secure Video limitation. Until Apple allows for 1080p+ video quality on HomeKit, we’re stuck with 1080p as the maximum. Video quality as-is is sufficient to make out cars, faces, animals, etc. You may miss finer details (like car license plates) at a distance due to the low 1080p resolution, however. The viewing angle is very wide, which should allow for total coverage of your driveway (as an example) from one installation point.Audio & speaker quality is also good. I can clearly hear outside noises & make out what visitors are saying from my iPhone. Audio output from the camera itself is also good, with visitors able to clearly understand what I’m saying from my iPhone.Night vision is also good, with the built-in IR doing its job in providing nighttime visibility for the camera without having to activate the floodlights. When the floodlights do activate, they’re quite bright! In fact, they’re brighter than my old “dumb” floodlights that were replaced with this Eve camera. Brightness can be modified on a scale via the Eve app, with an extra bright option available for short periods of time. The floodlight can be setup to turn on only when it detects motion (in general) or specific motion (from cars, animals, people, etc.). It’s the standard fare that you’d expect from a HomeKit camera. You can modify the usual settings from Apple’s Home app, with additional options available via the Eve app. (The Eve app does not require a separate signup/login.)Overall, I like this camera very much. I haven’t tried the other outdoor HomeKit camera options (other than the aforementioned Logitech Circle View Doorbell) so I can’t provide a proper comparison, but I can certainly say that I’d be happy to purchase another one of these in the future if I decide to expand my HomeKit camera coverage.

Solid Product but difficult to install
I had an old outdoor light I replaced with the Eve Outdoor Cam, but considering I had an outlet box with an opening larger than the mounting ring, and that the mounting ring required a flat wall to attach it to with anchors & screws, I had to figure out another way to mount it to the wall.I ended up buying a raised metal black mounting plate and drilled holes in it for mounting the camera. Also had to find different screws to attached the plate to the outlet box, and then the camera to the mounting plate. All of these efforts were required because the device is delivered with only one means of mounting the camera/light to a wall. There should be other options included in the box but are not.Once I managed to get the plates and device mounted, it was very difficult to move the main wires from the camera into the mounting ring area and then to push all the wires (after connected to the camera from the house current) into the housing. It turned out to be a two person job as holding the camera in place and not breaking the plastic mounting rings in this process was necessary. (Also, the instructions don’t communicate in layman’s terms which wire is the ground wire etc… so I called my electrician for advice).Once hooked up and turned on, the device works really well, excellent video quality and quick responsiveness in HomeKit and the Eve home app.If you have a VPN running the video may not play ( I had the Eve Home app on my iPad with a VPN running and it would not show the video, but when turned off, it came right up as it did on my other devices that didn’t have a VPN running.I have other Ring Spotlight cams around my home that are mounted hanging from underside of my home eves. I wish this device could replace them, but the Eve Outdoor Cam can only mount on a vertical wall and can’t be tilted far enough to suspend from an overhang roof eve where many homes have outdoor light fixtures already in place. Ring did a better job on this, but I hope Eve’s other similar ring type spotlight cameras can be made to work with HomeKit… I would get two of them immediately.

Letâs start with design, itâs a small device with big capabilities, I went with black. It has a really nice finish and has that apple-seque quality. The LED light takes up most of the space with the camera and microphone taking up the rest. I love the simplicity of the device and the fact itâs hard wired.Next mounting, I have read issues with mounting on a number of reviews, and whilst it took a little more thought, the junction box adaptor works on all types (the bracket is free from Eve if needed) we decided to remove the junction box for the aesthetics and that did make it a little easier but if you follow the video installation you canât go wrong. All in took about an hour to from old fitting and junction and remount the Eve Outdoor Cam.Then setup, I think once powered on it was a simple quick process through the Eve app and linking to Apple Home for HomeKit. Super easy. The video quality is 1080p so nothing super high definition but itâs adequate for a security camera, it offers great night vision with or with out the assistance of the light. The light is very very bright, currently I have it set to 5% and the is enough illumination for my front lawns , walkway and porch. 100% or boost is almost blinding. Finally connectivity, so itâs been up for over 2 weeks now and had no issues with dropping wifi or not connecting, it is set up to only notify for an activity zone and it works perfectly (tested thoroughly). Unit has been down to -15C and works like normal.Overall the cost is a little higher but for HomeKit I think itâs one of the nicest options and offers value as it is a light and camera (with a microphone) so in my can itâs used like a door bell camera.I have to say that I fully recommend this product.

Disconnects constantly –
I really wish I had not purchased this camera. There are far cheaper cameras with better quality and performance. Not sure how they are charging over $300 for this. I would not recommend this to anyone. Buy literally any other camera.

The quality looks real good and it works well . It included everything you need to install including the mounting plate. I found it easier to install if you removed the camera bracket and feed the wire through and installed the c clip . The instruction book is very small and the print hard to read. It took about a half hour to install camera , ten minutes to bypass light switch and about fifteen minutes to install software and setup. The system is quite expensive , but if it lasts a long time i do think it is a good investment. The picture looks good and the light also works well. I would recommend and buy again at this point.

The picture and sound quality are very impressive. Installation was standard and it connected to my HomeKit with little hassle (had to do a hard reset before my phone would pick it up, however I was having electrical issues anyways and I believe it would of been turned on and off several times while that was being fixed). The only complaint I have, is I wish they would have made the installation box square instead of circle, since the standard light box that is recessed into the way (not noticeable) is square. I had to carve a bit of wood away to have it fit into the old space. I know they made it circle because of the security feature but I think there could have been a better way.I did notice a couple of times when Iâve opened my Home app, that the camera âis not respondingâ ⦠my Logitech doorbell does this as well. I upgraded my Internet in hopes to correct the issue but it didnât work. I just purchased a wifi extender in hopes thatâll help.Overall happy with this purchase and would buy again.

Built very well. The software is excellent and very versatile. Love the fact that it is truly private. My one wish? Not for myself but for others who are considering this security camera. It is set up for mounting on a wall but like myself, this is not always possible and must be ceiling mounted. Not a problem for me as I love a challenge and with about $25 worth of parts (from here on Amazon) I did a bit of “Dr Frankenstein” though the “monster” turned out not too ugly. See picture. Sure the seller would be able to sell more of this great Camera/Light if they had a kit for a ceiling mount.
