    Excellent dimmer, excellent dimming quality
excellent dimmer. high quality and UL listed. smaller and thinner than most dimmer, innovative feature of load/line sensing; meaning you don’t need to know which one is load (light for example) or line (power 120V). this switch would determine that internally. best feature is it’s dimming capability. i had kasa dimmers installed before, and i replaced those with the GE dimmers. the dimming quality of Kasa is no match to GE dimmer. GE is way superior in terms of performance. Also, in my opinion, GE dimmers are best looking as it looks like a normal rocker switch. i have lutron dimmer installed as well, good performance, but after a while i realized the lights on the dimmer (that correspond to the dimming levels) look funny, after a while. GE dimmer is decent looking.installation is easy, single dimmer, or 3 way or 4 way. just remember one basic concept. the primary dimmer switch always has the line (120v), load (light for instance), neutral, and ground. the traveler wire between the primary dimmer and add-on switch; is just used to send a low voltage signal to the primary dimmer to turn on/off the lights. GE z wave (or honeywell ultrapro z wave, or ultrapro z wave, etc.) all made by Jasco. they are same , buy the one that is cheaper. these z wave devices do need an add on switch(s) for 3 way or 4 way installation. you can’t use it with a normal mechanical switch. if you want GE dimmer in 3 way configuration to be used with normal mechanical switch, buy the GE wifi dimmer. 3 wifi dimmers for approx. $50. but in my opinion, the z wave is worth the investment since the z waves are smaller and dissipate less heat. in older homes with not too deep electrical boxes, that is beneficial. i installed 9 primary dimmers and 7 add on switches. all work good. there are two typs of z wave dimmers by Jaso. the new version is 20% smaller and has line/load sensing. buy that one, easy to install:The GE add on switch needs a neutral wire. the traveler wire (just one wire red or whatever color you have) goes between the add on switch and the primary dimmer. this low voltage signal from the add on switch to the primary switch , tells the primary switch to turn on/off the lights. these dimmer and add on switch just work like normal mechanical switch, meaning, press top of the rocker to turn ON the lights, press bottom of the rocker to turn OFF the lights.

Did exactly what we expected it to
Reading many of the reviews makes me wonder if those reviews all apply to this product. I did not review prior to purchase and glad I did not. This switch worked as advertised. I have incandescent so I cannot speak to the LED issues.Pros:1) style of switch matches the existing Decora switches in the home. Only real difference is this is not a rocker switch, but a touch control. However, I a have other touch dimmers (non-smart) and this is very similar is use.2) dimming function is press and hold vs a separate slider. I like that.3) body of switch is compact and fits in a busy junction box.4) has a blue LED light below the switch to make it easier to find in the dark.Sidebar – this switch is not in a bedroom. I saw reviews about the blue LED being too bright for a bedroom so they used white-out to cover it up. Well the instructions include how to toggle the LED on or off, and that is easy to do – two taps on, one tap off toggles the LED. See installation instructions.5) using my smartphone this synced with Smartthings app very easy using QR code on box or on switch base first try.6) fully compatible with Alexa.Con:1) only one. The instructions. They start out saying whatever wires are on the existing switch, connect all to this smartswitch. That leaves out the VERY important instructions to add the white neutral jumper. No existing old-school dimmer will have a neutral wire connected to it. Wiring diagram does show the neutral. I was in too much of a hurry and installed without the neutral, connecting all existing wires like they say. Obviously it did not work. Like most guys, I then decided to study the installation instructions further. I included this confession to make you smile. 🙂

    Almost perfect
Once installed and setup. It works great. However a couple of snags getting there.First it’s a bit too wide for a multi gang box. The slots need to be wider to make it easier to slide over. It also needs the sides to be slimmer.Next is installing it with Smart things hub. It doesn’t automatically install scanning the qr code on the switch. You must choose the GE switch first then it will recognize it. (This maybe the fault of Samsung)Tapping on and off works as well as holding up or down for the dimmer. It works as it should and it’s easy to understand.

Works great with SmartThings. Wiring is eay too
Needed to add a smart controlled light recently and went with this model as I already have multiple GE/Embrighten Z-Wave switches from the old standard Z-Wave to the newer Z-Wave plus. This is one of the newest models and they have definitely made improvements. As far as installation goes the switch is physically smaller then the older models which makes it easier to fit into the electric box. Plus you can now swap the hot and load wires and it figures it out. I didn’t as I knew which was which but that would be real handy if you didn’t know as you wouldn’t have to trace out wires. Plus it was discovered by SmartThings with no issues on the first try. Overall great product.

    Would not operate a Chandelier
I wired this up according to the instructions given for a multi-way setup. Firstly, these do not support secure inclusion in Home Assistant, but after understanding that, I went ahead with the configuration. Firstly I put the switch in standard mode since I have dumb switches in the circuit. After that, I tried operating the switch from the z-wave switch, and although the status changed, the switch did not turn on the lights. I then went to one of the dumb switches, and again the status changed, but the light did not turn on. The seem to only work well either in a single pole setup or with the companion switch which is not the ideal setup for me, so I am going to try other options. As an aside; the fixture I was trying to operate was only 90W, but when I moved this to a single light, it worked fine.

The addon switches use the travel wire to communicate so it is important to know your wiring circuit

Dimmer works well, no flicker at any level of brightness, responds quite quickly to remote commands, simple to add to my z-wave system (my 6 year old ran around the house activating the switches while I added them to my z-wave system – was a great excuse to use walkie talkies and chance to help Dad).Very easy to install; with wire strippers and a multi head screw driver installation can be done in a few minutes. I have standard depth boxes throughout my house, and I was able to squeeze these switches in without too much effort. I know the measurements compared to the previous generation of switch aren’t too much different, but having previously fought to cram in other smart switches I can say the reduced size, however minor the difference, makes a substantial difference.I definitely recommend these switches and have done so with friends and coworkers.

Easy to set up an install with your smart home hub and smart voice controlhas programmable parameters via the Z wave standardi’ve been able to successfully join this to smart things and winkvery satisfying to press in the buttons are quite tactile and clickyThis Company offers additional colours to pop off including brown and black.this particular variant has the quick fit feature which is a super tiny size which is a game changer as the device is much smaller now.this is the perfect smart home switch for me!
