Robust housing, nice color diffusion and works as should
Installed in a marine environment for that extra nice feature for changing colors when the mood fits. Using a 12v switch for main power, all these lights were found and easily connected to the smartlife app and work as they should. No issues yet after 3 months in an outdoor marine environment exposed to salt laden air.

Normally, I buy GOVEE products because I like their proprietary app and how it handles their products. I set these bulbs up with the SmartLife app, which isn’t bad, but it’s not as good as the GOVEE app. BUT – it does the job.The bulbs themselves are easy to install, bright, and easy to control through Google.

I HAD them installed in rated exterior landscape housings. Note: HAD When I received them I let them set for a few weeks as I was busy remodeling my landscaping around one large tree and wanted the full effect of replacing my ordinary bulbs all at once. When I put my first one in the housing I couldn’t initialize it. I had to take the bulb out of the housing and hook it up with an bench power supply and program the bulb to the system. Once it was programmed it worked flawlessly in the exterior housing. I had to do this with EVERY bulb (11 in all). Fine, they work now, until the power company came and shut off the power to the neighborhood to some maintenance, then they lost their programming and wouldn’t work again. I tried over and over to get them to work and no luck. Junk! If your bulb doesn’t get a WiFi signal the bulb can’t be programmed, period. That’s a flaw in my opinion. The bulb should sync to your phone directly with BT or WiFi, not your router.Now I’ve waited too long to return them and I’m out $100.

Difficult To Pair/Set up
We live on a corner lot, with 6 trees lining the sidewalk around our property. A few years ago, I installed uplighintg on all of the trees, but they were just standard warm white bulbs. During the Holidays, I had to resort to taping gels over each of the lights to achieve different colors. I decided to give these bulbs a try so that I could more easily change colors for the lights. With gels, I was limited to the handful of colors I had on hand. With these bulbs⦠I literally have a limitless number of color selections.Setup: Installing the bulbs is extremely easy, as you just remove the old one and put the new one in. The bulb instantly goes into pairing mode (even though the instructions say you have to turn them off and on 3 times to go into pairing mode). I downloaded the app, as instructed, and the app had no problem finding them once in pairing mode. However, actually getting them to pair and connect to my home network was a whole other story. Each time you try to pair one, you have to wait about 2-3 minutes while the little progress bar moves forward. On several occasions, the pairing failed and I had to start over. In the end, it took me about 30-40 minutes to pair 4 bulbs. However⦠the trouble doesnât end there. Even though I successfully paired them, it was only paired via bluetooth. The app kept notifying me that they werenât actually connected to my wifi network. So I followed the directions to connect to my network, and they just kept failing time and time again. I never ultimately got them connected to my network. So⦠the good news is I can still walk around and connect to them via bluetooth to change colors, as needed. The bad news is that I canât do it from the warmth and comfort of my home. I know I have wifi signal out there, as my phone and other outdoor SMART devices all have no problem connecting. Perhaps when Summer rolls around and it gets warmer out, Iâll try some additional troubleshooting⦠but the bottom line is they shouldnât be this difficult to connect. I have dozens of SMART devices, and they all connect and work seamlessly. I love the ability to change colors, but hate how difficult they have been to work with. For that reason, Iâm giving this product 3 stars.
