Good bang for buck
This is a good bang for your buck. Not a great bang for your buck. Iâve used Yi for 3 years now. The monthly service( although not necessary – I used free service for over a year) is affordable and fairly reliable/ however it seems every time I want to go back and view something important ( my childâs first steps) somehow the system âglitchedâ. I contact customer service, of course thereâs nothing they can do. I have a stranger in my front and backyard with a weapon visible / but I canât see anything but a blurry blob for his face in every single frame. Police department can do nothing with the images other than roll their eyes. I click live view to see if my babies are sleeping in their cribs soundly, well I canât even see the babies in their cribs much less tell if theyâre breathing or not. I suppose on 1080 being able to see chest rise and fall is too large an expectation, I donât know. Most other times the cameras are fine for MINOR, LIGHT, BRIEF surveillance. Please consider something on a much higher level if you need to really micromanage a business for theft, or have any security issues at home or business, You will be disappointed. If youâre using these just for light surveillance at home / of your entrances , main common areas, tool or equipment storage or to watch your animals, youâll most likely be pleased. The cameras last forever. They are easy to set up and maintain. The free service is fine, we only upgraded because we have 6 or so cameras and I like live view of multiple cameras at all times plus recorded cloud and SD memory. Itâs worth the 9.99 monthly charge IF AND WHEN it happens to capture the images or videos Iâm searching for. It glitches out and takes a while to view often, but as stated Iâm not protecting a multimillion dollar museum of art, I use them for home security- in a safe secure area with more shotguns, rifles and rednecks than any other area of the US and I believe the cameras are just fine for that. If I lived in a high crime area I would consider another camera/service but for what we need theyâre pretty ok. They mount easily. The motion detection is good. They run on 110 plug- so if power or WiFi is down, so are they, and we must hide cords in two rooms that we have them mounted on ceilings. You must purchase SIM card for cameras to function properly. You can share live feed or video via text or social media and can share camera view by allowing access and giving login to other family members/business partners through the YI account. You will be able to see if anyone has logged in or viewed your account. It offers additional password protection for uncommon areas such as bedrooms. Thatâs a nice feature. Over all good product. Yes I would purchase again. Iâve purchased several over the past few years and bought my in laws a system for their residence out of state. If another company were to offer a better product and better quality viewing for a comparable or even a bit higher price, I would change over in a heartbeat. So thereâs my honest review. Hope it is helpful.

It works great!!
We had a few cameras that were stationary and we needed one that rotated. It came very quickly. It was very easy to install and even easier to view on our cell phone. It was packaged very well and a great price. We just might upgrade our other cameras and get a couple more. You canât have too many views of our home and property these days.

Reliable
Iâve purchased several of the 1080i cameras to monitor the inside of the house while away. They keep check on the pets. We had a location for this camera that has the 360 option to eliminate blind spots. These are great cameras at a reasonable price point. YI pushes their cloud service and they need to remember there are those on a budget and those like us in rural communities where internet is not readily available. When youâre struggling to hit 10 to 15mbps, having the cloud isnât realistic, so SD cards are a must. Weâve finally gotten Starlink, so this hurdle is no more with over 100mbps. The YI cameras perform great with the network now and no lag to connect. I still wonât subscribe to the cloud, but remember YI, we are all not the same, and needs are different, and old tech is not bad tech. Oh and the SD location is in the second picture. When you turn the the camera off in the app, the camera rotates up and exposes the SD slot.

Okay camera (with known issues) — extraordinarily poor support
If you search for reviews elsewhere on the internet, there are hundreds of folks who have this same issue. After a period of time, the local (SD card) storage and playback stop working. Kami Support plays along for a while, suggesting a couple fixes (reformat SD card, try in different device, etc — pretty standard stuff), but mostly suggesting to pay for their cloud subscription. In reality, they have no interest in fixing this known issue — they hope you’re attached enough to the camera to want to pay for their subscription.i played their troubleshooting games (I had done more extensive troubleshooting before I contacted them, a fact they completely ignored), but also declined the cloud service, so they stopped answering me. It’s unfortunately (for me) outside of the Amazon return period, so there’s not much I can do aside from warning others. To be fair, this is a pretty nice camera that has pretty decent picture quality and has pretty decent features. The motion detection is mostly reliable and it has pretty good night vision (although we really used it only once for that). Outside of the service and the overall scammy aspect of the whole thing, this camera is worth its cost. My hang up, and the reason that it’s getting only one star, is that it is advertised that it works with an SD card without paying for a subscription. They clearly have no interest in supporting the camera in that capacity.

Worth every penny!
This camera is great! I had trouble setting it up because for the first time ever I have a wifi router that doesn’t show the two bands, 5mhz and 2.4 mgz. So this 90scamera needs to be on 2.4. 5 mhz isn’t supported. I finally got into my router settings and separated the two bands, one for primary (5 mhz) and one for guest (2.4) Then I connected the camera to guest. It works really well. I like that I can talk through it too! This camera is worth the price. We will see how long it lasts. If it messes up I will update my review. The picture is really clear and so far the refresh rate is faster than other cameras in this price range. I’m sure it’s based on the speed of your wifi too. Mine is not fast and this still works well!

Have it inside, 360′ view of living room and kitchen, easy to use, download app, go on check whenever. Good value for your money.

Camera works fine, hardware is fine, but the app is one of the worst I’ve ever used. It’ll send you multiple adds per day under the same notification settings for when camera detecting things. You straight up can’t turn these off. And when using the app it’s aggressively brimming with adds for premium. It’s not that hard to use and navigate, but the whole app feels like it was designed to harass you into premium.I actually ended up missing a few important camera triggers- and even not knowing for several hours that the camera had been unplugged, because of these frequent spam notifications. Awful company.

Good thing I happen to have a 2G network for an older printer, otherwise this wasnât going to work at all.Picture quality is choppy even on HD (possibly because itâs on the 2G network). Microphone picks up voices but canât make out what theyâre saying. Turn night vision off if itâs in a window with a screen (it just reflects the screen) otherwise it works pretty well. A light on nearby helps in both situations.Make sure you buy a micro SD card! It holds a lot of video/data so it can run a long time (days) and not fill up.Overall 3 stars because itâs really neat lol. Has a lot of settings you can tinker with. The night vision and the intercom features are cool.
