    I’ve already purchased (2) bulbs purchased from Yeelight because of my positive experience with them. Each light bulb I have purchased worked very well and was both easy to install. I’ll talk about the paring process, the functionalities, and customization. I understand it’s been difficult for some people so allow me to shed some light:(Good pun yes?)Initial Setup:The setup process begins by downloading the “Yeelight” smartphone app. Ensure you have a good wireless network connection and remain in close range as your pairing your smart lightbulb. Know how to read and follow the instructions, because it’s very important you follow the instructions according to the app. Note:You cannot set this up without first: Registering for an account with Yeelight. 2. Downloading their app.Once you’ve registered for an account with Yeelight, launch the Yeelight app, and find the bulb you’ve purchased. (For me, this was the RGB Color2″) Select your bulb, and allow the application to discover your current network. (This would YOUR default network; not the newly created “yeelight_wifi”) ** I made this mistake.After the Yeelight app has found your *default* wireless network, you can then proceed to connect your smartphone’s default wireless network, to the Yeelight_wifi” wireless network. This will be a new network coming from the smart bulb for pairing purposes. The Yeelight_wifi (smart-bulb) has to successfully pair with your wireless network, so I recommend you keep the app running, do not close out of it until it’s finished.Customization:(Yeelight app)The lighting effects on the Yeelight smart-bulb are done through the Yeelight smartphone application. There are many cool and easy to use color settings. Yeelight’s application has tons of color options and you can use with custom light settings called “Scenes” These scenes on the Yeelight app, are pre-defined lighting settings you can configure on the Yeelight app.On Yeelight’s app, you’ll find pre-installed color settings such as Sunrise, Sunset, Movie night, etc.The common lighting settings on the Yeelight app, such as on and off, can also be triggered by a push of a button or an iPhone 3D touch gesture from the app for quicker access.IFTTT:You can also connect Yeelight to IFTTT. for even customization in your lights scheduling, and triggering when paired together. Using the scenes on the app allows quick access to change a lighting scene. Yeelight’s application even allows you to take your lighting scenes and use them in IFTTT. Initially, you must give IFTTT permission to connect to Yeelight.IFTTT and add some IFTTT “applets”. These color scenes and lighting effects are triggered by services on IFTTT, such as Google Assitant, Cortana, Outlook Email, predefined date/time schedules, or other custom actions you define on IFTTT,The IFTTT application will help your personal assistants to trigger specific lightings effects on your Yeelight’s lightbulb, from a third-party service like Alexa, by receiving input from the user. From activating color scenes, to changing color flows and setting a certain schedule.Many smart home assistants such as Google Assistant,(**and Google Home) Cortana, or Alexa, **(Yes it works with Cortana!) All of these virtual can receive a new applet/ or phrase from scratch when created by IFTTT. The virtual smart assistants will be what’s considered an “IF” (For example), “IF I say, “Hey Cortana, dim the lights. Cortana will first, respond with my predefined response, “Ok, I’ve triggered that for you.” Cortana will then proceed to perform the “THEN THAT” action (which I set to be the trigger for activating the “Night” setting on my Yeelight Smart-bulb)Once you’ve defined what service you want to use, Type what phrase you want to say. Your smart assistant will need this specific phrase defined, to connect to Yeelight, directly from the IFTTT application.Make sure signed into IFTTT, you have connected iFTTT, to your newly created Yeelight account and grant IFTTT permission to IFTTT to connect to Yeelight.What I’ve been able to do:I have set up Yeelight with Google Home, Alexa & Cortana with the help of IFTTT. They all are compatible and work fine. If you prefer not the mess with IFTTT, I can verify Alexa will connect directly to Yeelight without the use of IFTTT. SImply go your Alexa app and choose Yeelight from the “Smart Home” section on your Alexa app.It’s really cool to have predefined phrases for Cortana, Alexa AND, Google Home when paired with IFTTT. I can use my smartphone app, or ask an assistant to set a scene, turn off or on the light easily.These light bulbs from Yeelight are truly awesome, as there’s a lot you can do. If you need any assistance, I’d be happy to offer further troubleshooting. I’d call myself an expert, as I really enjoy all the configuration Yeelight’s smart but has to offer. I would highly recommend these bulb. With such a great price and awesome customization; you seriously can’t go wrong. Fantastic product.

    Great for general use, terrible for automated use
    As a home automation hobbyist, I both love and dislike this bulb. On one hand, the bulb works great when controlled my the mobile app. Sometimes the bulb drops off my network and I have to flick the light switch off then on again, but otherwise it works great. The bulb has the warmest warms, and the coldest colds. The bulb doesnt get as bright as I’d like it to, but he color settings are great for mood lighting.However, as someone who uses Home Assistant for my home automation, I find this bulb next to impossible to get working. When I had it working (developer mode on, LAN access on, YeeLight integration set up), it worked for a couple hours then kept showing as unavailable when the app could access it just fine. I was able to get it working with the HomeKit integration for a while, but after changing my HASS installation over to another device, it stopped working altogether.I would buy more of these wonderful bulbs if the compatibility with Home Assistant was addressed by Xiomi.

    Complete waste if effort and time Do.Not.Buy
    My experience with this complete waste of time order. I Received it and was excited because it’s heavy so that means it’s made well. First thing you have to do is create an account just like any other smart light company. I downloaded the app and opened it it then took me to a website owned by a Chinese telecom company that was recently banned and unbanned in America. After telling my phone to translate the page because this company cant have an app they need you to go to a Chinese website to sign up I entered all my information and hit submit and it took me to a page that did nothing at all so I tried again same result. I tried a different browser same result so I gave up I Uninstalled the app, I reinstalled the app and again back to that page but it allowed me to log in. I figured I would try the lights so I put 2 in my kitchen followed the instructions and guess what unlike other lights if you have one of the best routers out a WiFi 6 router which chooses 2g or 5g for you , well Yeelights don’t work intact it tells you sorry you can’t use your network because it’s not compatible with 5G see pics attached. So I tried pairing it directly to the light and nope all it did was flash. So if you don’t wanna give China access to your whole life and you use a wifi 6 router these are useless. I may notes that I already have Phillip’s Hue with the bridge, Treatlife and Feit all work with my wifi 6 router and were way easier to set up. Sometimes I have hiccups but not alot I wanted to try these due to the reviews and the music such capabilities. Sadly I was disappointed and wasted my time

    Great
    Something is different between these and the yeelights I got back in 2018, despite being a $5 product, vs a nearly $20 one per bulb. These connect wonderfully to the wifi, and are quite reliable. The only real complaint, is that these would ideally be able to use their mesh network EVEN WHEN IN HOMEKIT, as its just a communication back end. AND that they should change to allowing users to add these to homekit from within the app. Currently, when you click “Add to Home” it just pops up a menu asking you to scan the barcode, which sucks if you currently have them installed. Also realistically it would be so cheap for them to add a proximity NFC for auto pairing in the “scan” function of homekit.

    I think this light is worth the money, it has a variety of colours, can be scheduled, works with google home, and the brightness can be adjusted well. However, the shortcut icons from the app don’t seem to work when the app isn’t open, and the app closes automatically when not being used, so that feature is nearly useless, at least on android. Another caveat is that the colours decrease in variety as the brightness decreases, with orange becoming red, and blue becoming green. This product is mostly good, but probably isn’t worth buying if you intend to use mostly dim lighting.Edit: I don’t know why, but the dim colour range is excellent now, so I think this deserves 5 stars now.

    Worked well then one of the LEDs would intermittently stop working, making the light blue. Usually after having been on for 15 minutes or more, but it got worse and less and less time was required for failure. Got very little use up until failure point. Was disappointing because when it worked it was great.

    Hopefully you don’t have issues with these bulbs, I had ordered 3 and unfortunately one died after a 3 months. There was something wrong with the controller as the bulb itself would turn on but one of the LED colours would randomly stop (usually green). I had contacted support and they said it was covered under the warranty and I would receive another bulb…but nothing happened and follow up was ignored. So they’re great until they’re not and don’t expect any sort of warranty.

    I think this is the first review for the new 800 lumen V2 bulb. I felt obligated to write this review after how impressed I am with this bulb. Let me first say that Yeelight did NOT pay me to write this, and I paid full price for this product like any consumer. I was simply looking for a cheaper alternative to the Philips Hue.The bulb itself feels very solid a build quality it superb. It’s bigger than a traditional bulb, but that’s to be expected. I had no problems screwing this into my Ikea bedside lamp.Setup was VERY simple. It took two try’s, but this was likely me entering my wifi password incorrectly. Once this was up and running in just a few minutes, the App was extremely simple to figure out. I think there is still room for improvement in terms of the App but I’m very impressed The bulb is quick and responsive when changing colours, and there are some presets like a Candle Flicker or Romance which are pretty neat. The colours are very vibrant and accurate.I only have one bulb so far, so it’s hard for me to test out things like Scenes, but based on the testing so far, I imagine it would work without any issues. The text in the App is translated from either Mandarin or Cantonese, so there a couple things that aren’t translated perfectly, but nothing that would stop me from doing what I want to do.I’d love to test the Lightstrip also. Yeelight, if you’re listening and want to send me a Lightstrip to test, I’d be happy to do it!
