Best non-subscription doorbell camera available
The world is all moving to a subscription-based model and these smart doorbells are no different. They lure you in with low prices and lots of features but then cut you off after the trail period has ended unless you pay up.I came across this doorbell in a YTube review and was sold. I did run into 2 issues but was resolved. The hardwire mounting screws were missing from the back of the doorbell and the USB charging port was not at the bottom of the doorbell. I reached out to support and they replied within a day. They said they would be happy to give me a $6 credit if I grabbed the screws locally (the size is M3Ã5MM by the way). Also, they said the moved the charging port to the rear under the rubber power on button but have not updated the paperwork in the package.Anyways, I took the doorbell to the hardware store prior to them replying and found the screws needed. After that installation was a breeze to setup and did a quick firmware update on the doorbell and base unit. It took about 3 days for the doorbell to fully charge connected directly to the doorbell’s hard-wire connection but I like that is it was slow because the risk of over-charging is low. It was about 70% capacity from the factory. If you are using battery only, the Wuuk USB charger will be very fast. Also, the doorbell doesn’t even need AC power to function so it nice to have this back-up feature. Other doorbells typically require you to buy a bigger doorbell transformer because the internal battery is just too small to handle the power draw. Not Wuuk, the doorbell is bigger than most but that’s to support the much bigger battery. Once mounted, the size is not an issue. The doorbell chime is loud and customizable, video quality is awesome and you can even pinch zoom in. The ability to record 30 sec video with motion automatically and while you are viewing live footage beats out the competition. Taking a photo is easy from the app too. Pay once and be done with ongoing charges that will end up costing you more in the end! Funny name but better than the big names out there with robust features and no subscription requirements.

Update 5/21/23~These cameras have some nice features that my older wireless cameras did not have
UPDATE 05/21/2023~ WUUK customer service is amazing!! I don’t get a lot of activity on the doorbell camera, so I didn’t have to charge the battery until a few weeks ago (so the battery charge lasted 6 months!). I broke the tiny tab at the bottom of the mounting plate when removing the unit. I contacted WUUK customer support via the email link and explained that I needed to order a replacement plate. They asked me for my Amazon order number and then told me that the unit was still under warranty and they would send a free replacement plate. It arrived in 2 days. I appreciate that I didn’t have to argue with them that the tiny tab might be too easy to damage — they just replaced it! The cameras stay connected all the time, and the quality of the video is great. Notifications are easy to manage. I’ve had several other camera systems in the past, but this is by far the best in terms of the product ease-of-use and the customer support.Original review: October, 2022 ~The product is exactly as described. Easy instructions; the WUUK app is fast and intuitive. I did have a problem creating my app account and messaged WUUK Support. They responded quickly to let me know that the AWS server had been down but I could try again now. The Cameras linked to the base immediately. Resolution is MUCH clearer than the older wireless cameras I was using. The WUUK app events log is organized better than the old brand of cameras event log (i.e., I would have to open the event log for each individual camera to view the recordings. The WUUK app shows all thumbnails in chronological order for all cameras.) Events are easy to delete. I like that the storage is in the base unit; not on a tiny SD card that is hard to remove. The charger can stay connected to the base unit, so I won’t have to search for the charging cable when I need it. The cameras have been operating for about a week, and still show 100%. Price was very reasonable. And let me mention again, the Quality of the 2k resolution is SO MUCH better than the 1080 on my old cameras! (to be fair, those old cameras have been faithfully recording in all kinds of weather for about 4 years and I didn’t even realize how fuzzy the recordings actually were….) There have been 2 firmware updates in the past week, and I like that the app shows a red dot on the settings wheel when there is an alert in the Settings. The alert also tells you what benefits you will see from that particular update. I am very satisfied with the doorbell cameral and the add-on security camera so far!

When I received the product I started to install the two devices. I was able to install the base station easily both WiFi and direct using an Ethernet cable directly to my router. Connecting WiFi was just an experiment and it was very easy. For streaming it is best to make an Ethernet connection.I then began to install the doorbell unit and had issues pairing the device. I tried charging the unit first then went through the procedures written in the supplied instruction booklet but to no avail, I eventually had to email the help desk. The help desk was fantastic and stuck with me through all the troubleshooting procedures suggested but once again nothing we did was working, the unit was dead and could not be revived. The help desk then initiated a replacement order and sent me a new doorbell unit which arrived two days later.Upon receiving the new doorbell I went about installing it and this time everything went perfectly with waking up the device after charging it. I was able to pair the device to the base station and using the Wuuk Web App connected the doorbell and base station to my network and my Amazon echo device.I can now see who is at the front door with a video that is so clear it took my breath away. My Echo device announces if the doorbell senses movement and when the bell button is pushed it announces there is someone at the door showing a video of the person and gives you the ability to talk to the person. This is great for people that are physically challenged, no need to go to the door to talk to a peddler. Great for security because you can now see who is at the door because of so much crime these days. While the devices I bought are of exceptional quality it came with a straight mount and a 15 degree offset mount for the camera and everything you needed to connect to the wall and to your router including a charging cable I have to say the the service I received from the help desk was exceptional, thank you for your help.

The camera has only been installed for about a month. I compared a lot of different smart doorbells and read a lot of reviews and settled with the Wuuk after also receiving some word of mouth accounts of it being used. Biggest feature for me is no subscriptions for recording motion or accessing videos online.Setup took only a few minutes but be sure to follow the instructions closely to setup the base station and the doorbell. You can either setup base station either wired to your router or wireless. The doorbell can be installed using your existing doorbell wiring or wireless as well. I setup both the base station and doorbell wireless at first (just using it inside the house) to make sure it’s working. I left the base station as a wireless connection and then installed the doorbell outside using the existing doorbell wiring and using the supplied wiring accessories for easier installation. Depending on where your original doorbell or where you’d like to place the new doorbell, it comes with a flat and angled backplate to attach the doorbell to.Video quality both day and night are pretty good and the microphone is fine enough to hear who’s at the door. It’s not meant to have marathon conversations. It’s a doorbell, not a professional cinematic camera so don’t expect an IMAX Dolby Surround experience. If your street is well lit you may not even need to use night mode. You can setup specific detection zones and adjust the sensitivity. The smart detection and notifications are good if you live on a busy street and don’t want to be notified every time a car drives by.As a test, I had it detecting everything at high sensitivity and to send notification for everything and the battery started draining after a few days. Leaving it at the default settings, the battery charged back to 100%. Other people might have different experiences but at this rate I may never need to remove the doorbell to charge it via USB cable if the battery drains too much.Sharing the camera feed with family members is possible. Maybe I haven’t researched it enough but right now the only way to do that is to install the app on other devices and logon using my main account. Anyone logged onto the app can go to the settings and change them. That’s not ideal if I only want family member to see and interact with the doorbell and restrict access to making any changes.Only glitch so far is that the camera feed was going blank (grey to be exact) but was resolved after rebooting the router and base station. Probably not a doorbell issue but rebooting both devices seemed to fix the problem so I’m not too concerned. My only real concern is after reading many reviews that the camera lens or covers has become foggy for some users after several months of use. Most seemed to have similar environments where the temperatures range from hot to very cold seasons. Living in such a location myself I’m worried the same will happen to my doorbell. The comforting news is that those who had the issue that contacted Wuuk support were either offered a refund or replacement. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that.In conclusion, so far so good and I’d recommend this product.

I had this camera doorbell and homebase for almost one day. The installation was confusing, but if we take time, there are lots way to understand it easily. The video quality(up to 2k) is pretty good, but motion quality needs to be better(not clear). The range and angle of the view is narrow- it does not describe on the site- so the focal point is awkward and we can not recognize people’s faces or any parcel’s delivering on the ground. This matter is main reason I return this set. Also the app gets frozen once a while, Even not busy time.I like the functions I can record and take a snapshot if I want while I’m checking outside.I’m so impressed by this product, but unfortunately it didn’t meet my expectation and standard. Sad!! Hope they can improve these functions to be perfect and practical.============>>I changed mind to keep this. I noticed the doorbell is working stable and uploading quick. The only problem is the range of the view so I made a support with right slope. It works for us now. Now we will paint it and almost perfect now~â¡

While I had issues setting up initially, I reached out to their CS, and issue was resolved as they promised. The product is nice, as I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now, the camera is clear and crispy, and I was able to set it up with Alexa, I bought Alexa for this… Now I have other reasons for Alexa. Haha. You can change some default settings like recording time from default 10s to 30s which I found useful. The settings are intuitive, and the user manual is a good reference. Also, there is an update for the camera when you open it out of the box, I think you should update the camera to that version for compatibility purposes. It is compatible with my old old doorbell, it rings the bell, and hooking it up with the old transformer is easy peasy, i installed the exterior camera within 10 minutes and was happy it’s compatible with my old bell.I will update as time goes on, but as of today, if I need to buy another doorbell camera, I’ll go for Wuuk again.

I’ve been looking into video doorbells for a while but just couldn’t stomach paying a monthly or annual fee for storing video footage. Doorbells I did look at sometimes included local storage on the doorbell itself which constitutes a major security flaw in my opinion.I came across the Wuuk and it has the features I wanted (local storage, storage device located inside the premises, 2k camera, motion detection, and voice communication) and decided to give it a try. The package I received appears to have been previously used because some of the items were in unsealed plastic bags, plastic screen protector looks to have been removed and reapplied, etc.; however, I decided to keep the package and proceed with the installation after fully charging the doorbell batteries. Installation went smoothly with no issues. The Wuuk replaced an old mechanical door bell and could run the Wuuk via the old doorbell’s wires. Having the battery backup is nice in case of a power outage. One thing to note is this: having the storage unit close to the router is essential if you want to run the unit over 2.5 Ghz WiFi.Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase.EDIT: it’s been about 14 months and the base station has been working flawlessly over WiFi. Suddenly, the base station started dropping the WiFi connection and the only way I could get it back on WiFi was to connect the base station with an Ethernet cable and then disconnect the Ethernet. Unfortunately, the base station would drop the WiFi connection a few minutes to a few hours later. I reached out the Wuuk’s support team who worked with me to try and resolve the issue. Despite a few resets and moving the wireless router much closer to the base station, the WiFi connection would still drop. I am very happy to report that the Wuuk support team is sending out a replacement base station even though the base station is no longer under warranty 🙂
