[BRAND]: Winees[ITEM]: Winees Matter Smart Plug 1 Pack, Smart Outlet That Work with Alexa, Alexa Smart Plugs 15A/1800W Max, Home Automation, APP Remote Control, Timer&Schedule, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Only[COLOR]: White[SIZE]: 6.8cm x 3.8cm[VOLTAGE]: 120 Volts[CONNECTOR TYPE]: Plug In[PLUG FORMAT]: Type B[QUANTITY]: 1[MODEL]: WC0900184[ASIN]: B0D3X836DBINITIAL SETUPUnlike other reviewers who had initial success, I found the setup process far more challenging than other matter-smart devices I currently use. It took me THREE DAYS and numerous attempts to connect it without downloading another app, which was the primary reason for choosing a matter-enabled plug. Eventually, it connected and I was able to control it with an Alexa Echo Dot 5th using voice commands.[GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS & ITEM-SPECIFIC TIPS FOR SETUP]1. POWER ON BLUETOOTH: Ensure your phoneâs Bluetooth is on.2. WI-FI CONNECTION: Connect your phone and smart home device to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.3. PROXIMITY: Plug the smart outlet into a socket close to your Alexa/Google device for initial setup.4. PAIRING MODE: Press and hold the button on the outlet for at least 5 seconds until it blinks, indicating pairing mode.5. SCAN QR CODE: Use the QR code found on the smart plug or in the instruction booklet.6. ð¢IMPORTANT: SERVICE SELECTION: Verify the displayed smart home service is correct. If not, select the right one. Note: The pairing code is for a SINGLE SMART HOME service. To change which service controls the outlet, factory reset the plug by holding the power button for 15 seconds and then create a new pairing code.7. ALEXA (APPLE/GOOGLE) SETUP: Instruct Alexa to locate new devices and follow the in-app instructions once the (Leedarson) device is located.RECOMMENDATIONWhile I managed to set it up without additional apps, the process can be cumbersome. If you encounter difficulties, using the “AiDot” app may simplify the setup. Additionally, the device recognition on Alexa took a couple of days, showing multiple names and instances of the same outlet, so look for “Leedarson Smart Device.”USAGE EXPERIENCEDespite the initial setup frustration, the smart plug works well with voice commands via Alexa.VERDICTI found the setup somewhat frustrating. I wanted a matter-smart outlet specifically for my mom, who I will be setting up with her first Alexa device this Christmas. Given that my intended recipient is not tech-savvy, I feel confident in the plug but not in her ability to set it up independently. Recommended, but with some setup caveats.

Won’t pair with SmartThings
I tried every conceivable way to get them to pair with smart things and they always fail during the final pairing process.

Works with Hubitat and Google
Though I’m fairly familiar with smart home devices, primarily Zigbee and Zwave based, this is the first time I’ve successfully managed to get a Matter device to work properly. I tried one bulb in the past and simply was never successful in proper paring. This time, though I wouldn’t say it was a straightforward process, in the end everything is working fine.To start, though Hubitat supports Matter devices, you must first register the device via a vendor which supports more directly. This list includes Alexa, Google, and Smartthings among others. Not Hubitat though. After that, you are then allowed to share that device from the primary service with other providers, which is where Hubitat comes in. Best I can tell, you can then probably delete the device from the first provider, and it’ll still work on the 2nd, but unless the 2nd provider also supports sharing via their app, you will no longer be able to share. For the primary, I first try Alexa. Though I have 3 providers between Google, Alexa, and Smartthings, I used to rely heavily on Alexa for automation and I’ve recently migrated everything off Smartthings to Hubitat so Alexa was the choice. The process seems simple. You use your phone to search the QR code on the side of the device. From there, you associate the device with your choice of provider. I tried the Alexa this way at least 4 times and failed each time. I was roughly 10 feet away in an open room. That was just the most convenient location with an empty plug and didn’t require moving the Alexa.Giving up on this, I moved to the Google. At this point, I found an outlet about 4 feet away. This time, it paired just fine. With a little bit more work and scratching my head, I was able to find the code to share in Google to enable it in Hubitat. Since then, it has worked perfectly fine. With this experience, I intend to stick with Zwave and Zigbee. Installation is just simpler and less fault prone. I don’t believe it’s an issue with this device but rather an issue of maturity. Matter just isn’t ready for the average user yet IMO.I will note one thing of interest. As I was patiently awaiting some of the failed parings with Alexa, I quickly looked over the included manual. In the troubleshooting section, it said you needed to set up IPv6 on your network. I’m knowledgeable about networking and I know for a fact that I do not have IPv6 enabled on my network. I’ve ignored it thus far as I understand how to set up firewalls/routing/etc… on IPv4 and don’t see the need for IPv6 on local network. For this device, I can verify that it is working and fully functional on my IPv4 network. I’m not sure why the manual stated that in the troubleshooting. There may be some specific need for it but for my purposes of connecting to Hubitat on a local network, it was not needed.

Works perfectly
I’ve had zero issues with this smart plug. Currently, I’m using it for my Christmas tree! Just plug it in and sync it. The instructions are super easy to follow. And for the price, I’m probably going to end up getting more for some other devices in my home. Recommended!
