Customers say
Customers find the timer works well for turning on lights at dusk and off at pre-set times. They appreciate the light switch’s functionality, which allows them to turn on and off an all-night light. While most are satisfied with the time settings and design, some have mixed opinions on installation, the timer, build quality, and fit.

Great Timer, nice looking and functional
Love the timer. It is very functional. The features are good and easy to use once programmed. I have been using 2 of these timers for several weeks now. Programming was fairly easy but I am pretty familiar with these types of electronics. I like the blue light backlight. It only comes on when you push the button which is good to sit is not lighting a dark room at night. There were also some complaints about this timer not fitting a regular wall plate. I am using the leviton decora style wall plates. The timer fits those perfectly. You DO need a nuetral wire to be able to use this timer which is the case with most of these type of timers. I hope the rechargable battery stays good for more than 7-8 years. I don’t like changing things often after I put them in because I am a very busy person. I don’t have time to deal with swapping things out. I don’t see that the batteries are replaceable so I will just plan to replace the entire timer when that happens. I have 2 of them side by side so I will likely need to replace both if they don’t make the same style when the batteries go bad.Directions need some work. It is not clear how exactly how to set the dawn to dusk feature. I doesn’t really tell you that the dawn to dusk button is the one with the little moon and sun images on it. You need to press program, then press set , then press the dawn to dusk button for moon to set the on setting. The instructions fail to tell you to press the set button, then the dawn to dusk button. I did call customer support before I bought this timer to ask ask about using it with a dimmer. They said you can’t use it with a dimmer. They did not have someone available to answer my questions but did call back within several hours. Also, I found out that you can use it on a 3 way set-up but I think you MAY need to make sure it in the right spot within the wiring run. If you wiring 3 way and it is not working, call customer service to ask about that. That all being said the timer is still great and I would buy it again.

Perfect replacement for Intermatic in-wall 24-hr exhaust fan timer
I purchased this digital timer switch to replace an Intermatic 24-hr in-wall timer that failed after 10 years. This timer switch is used to power a bathroom exhaust fan and set an automatic timer so that the fan runs to circulate the air in the bathroom for a portion of the day.Wiring – Simply follow the instructions to wire in the new digital timer switch (make sure you flip your breaker switch OFF to avoid potential electrical jolts). My particular installation had 4 wires…black (hot)/white (neutral)/red (load to the fan)/and a bare ground wire. I attached the 4 wires to the corresponding poles on the switch, turned the breaker switch ON, and it powered up and worked like a charm. If you’re using this switch as a replacement for another existing in-wall timer switch, pay close attention (take pictures) to how that switch is wired before you remove the old switch. That will likely be the best guide for where the wires go on this particular digital switch. It’s not that difficult – just keep in mind that for electrical wiring, most often, the white is neutral, black is hot, and red is typically a load wire. Ground wires are always bare (copper) or green.Programming is easy…after setting the time, date and year, hit the program button, set the time you wish your fan or light to power on automatically, then choose the days of the week. Finally, set the time for switching the fan OFF in the same manner. Close the little door (which acts as a button to manually turn the fan/light on or off) and you’re done. The best part about this digital switch is that it’s half the cost of another Intermatic in-wall dial/mechanical timer switch (runs $52 plus tax) and is much easier to deal with, plus it looks a lot nicer on the wall. It even adjusts for daylight savings time automatically which is another bonus. No more flipping down tiny little switches on a mechanical dial that is doomed for failure years down the road. The TOPGREENER digital switch also has a built-in backup battery in case power goes out.Overall a great product and perfect for replacing those Intermatic in-wall dial timers that are rather ugly and aren’t likely to last since they’re mechanical, inaccurate, and prone to failure.

Easy programming, Great, with lots of features.
This is an excellent, reasonably priced, full featured timer with easy to program 8 on and 8 off settings. It has latitude (North-central-south zones) and dawn/dusk compensation for the time of year, including Puerto Rico and Mexico. Canada is not included in my model. I especially like the fact that it uses standard clamping screws for wire attachment instead of 12 GA stranded leads which add to the wire clutter in the box and are hard to accommodate with other solid wires in the wire nut. When changing to this timer I was able to eliminate 8 wire nuts and all the pigtail leads, meaning they went into the box more easily. Comes with white, beige (antique white), and brown cover plates. This is a Decora wall plate device. Comes with a single gang durable white Decora wall plate with screws. Antique and brown wall plates are not included. UL Rated.Hookup for single pole use is easy. Note that a neutral (white) wire IS needed. 3-way installation is relatively straightforward. However… It does not use a standard 3-way configuration and so is not a direct replacement and must have power available. Wiring changes are needed at both ends of 3-way circuits. The 4-way switches in between (if a 4-way circuit) do not need to be rewired. You have to be aware of this and may have to figure out the circuit diagram, if you do not have the configurations in your switch boxes shown in the instructions, which I didn’t.The only fault I can find is that the back light turns off after a short time and the display is hard to read when off. However, while programming or when you turn it on or off manually, the back light comes on and the display is fine.Durability and reliability have not been tested, but I did install two units and both are working perfectly. I will report back in a couple of months if anything changes. Recommended for those who know electrical wiring. Otherwise have a qualified electrician install it.

Fácil de configurar y trae muchas funciones, lo único que le veo en contra es que la baterÃa que trae para el respaldo de la configuración y datos en caso de un apagón no es reemplazable. Ya veremos cuánto dura.

I have had these Astronomical Timers operating for several months now and I am very pleased with their performance. Our house now looks great in the evening at dusk with the outside lights on. I had zero problems setting them up to perform as desired after reading some earlier reviews and setting them for the correct North zone (and not our time zone as I originally thought). My only issue was struggling to align them correctly as mine are in a four switch gang box. Patience getting that right is an asset that was tested to the extreme in my case but eventually accomplished without any modification to the new plate cover after I broke the original one. I can recommend these switches as they seem to be “Set it and Forget it”. Whereas I have couple others that require periodical adjustments though out the year that is annoying.

I installed this timer/switch and it has been working perfectly now for several years. The install is finicky for two reasons:. The unit is large and fills up a standard outlet/switch box, and If your box has several wires coming in, you are going to have a problem. Second, when programming the unit, it times out very quickly, and you need to have read the instructions a couple of times in advance or it will exit the programming mode while you are squinting at the manual. But once it is up and running, it is great and requires no attention.

This timer stopped functioning after a little over a year. Too bad TOPGREENER warranty is 1 year and they will not replace the unit. You would think an electrical product like this would be designed to last.It worked fine a year, was fairly straightforward to setup & install, and turned the exterior lights on/off at dusk/dawn. Then it stopped working.1) The timer will not pass power onto the load side, even when you manually turn it on. Tested with power meter.2) The timer won’t hold date/time settings. I set the current date/time and came back to check the following day and says it’s 2017 again and the time is incorrect.Had to remove and throw it out. I find this very frustrating.

It took a bit to get this thing set up properly but once I got it programmed it works great. Reliably turns on my outdoor Christmas lights as the sun starts to set and then turns them off at 11pm, then back on at 6am and off as the sun rises. I absolutely have to agree with several other reviewers though about the size of this unit and its fitment with other wall plates. This is really bad on the manufacturers part, all light switch and outlet plates in our house are bright brass and there is no way I was going to have one cheap white plastic plate in our house so I had to take a file to the switch rectangle that protrudes. It fits the brass plate fine now and I have no issues opening the little door on this switch to access the settings. It is only too large by 1/32″ on the sides and top, that is literally why I gave it a 4 star rating as this is just plain bad on the manufacturers part.
