Fantastic video doorbell with local storage and AI features
I hate paying subscription services and I was looking for a doorbell that would give me a decent feature set without having to pay a monthly fee. The Tapo wired doorbell fit my need perfectly! My house wasn’t previously wired for a doorbell so I had to run bell wire and install a transformer but after I finally got it setup I was amazed at the quality. The Camera has a great high def picture and works fantastically in the dark. I have mine recording to a local SD card and have been impressed with the responsiveness. The app is a pleasure to use and allowed me to setup zones to avoid getting notices whenever cars drive down the road. The included AI processing works well and does a decent job of identifying people, packages, or motion. whenever someone rings my doorbell I now hear the included chime, and receive notifications on my alexa and google home devices.I would greatly recommend the TAPO doorbell but make sure you get an endurance rated SD card for local storage.

Great Wired Doorbell for the Price
I’ve been searching for a new wired doorbell camera to replace my aging Nest Hello which I’ve had for many years. After purchasing one of the Tapo C120 cameras and being impressed with its features and picture quality, I pulled the trigger on this new wired doorbell from Tapo. So far it’s working great. I installed a 128GB SD card and the install was very easy. The camera view has a much wider angle view compared to the Nest which is good because I can see more of my porch, but I don’t love the fish-eye point of view. Person detection work great but I turned off the motion detection after the first night because just like every other camera I’ve tried, it kept getting triggered by bugs. The only other issue is the night vision shows a bright spot on the wall to the right of the camera along the wall in our porch. Is this doorbell camera perfect? No. But for the price I’m happy with it.

Great product
I have other TAPO camera monitor products and have compared them to several other brands. TAPO is the best, especially due to their software interface. It’s not perfect, but much better than others. This doorbell cam works well, but I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fisheye lens. I really don’t like that and strongly prefer an option for a normal lens.

Massive improvement
Previously had a wired ring doorbell and a wireless dzees at the front door. Both would commonly lose connection, miss events, and also couldn’t even see the ground in front of the door making it hard to see packages. The wide angle lens on this camera lets me see all. It’s wired, always recording, and has a nice pre-roll in recordings of what happened before motion was detected. I’m able to use my own SD card for storage and pay $0 in subscriptions, versus the absolute theft of ring. The AI notifications are pretty smart, but I do get false positives from shadows occasionally.I like the small size and clean appearance! Was easy to mount, and for ~40 dollars it’s a steal compared to alternatives. For those that care, it also integrates with home assistant! I’m able to stream the ONVIF data directly to my home dashboard, and there is a HACS integration for controlling the cameras locally (currently broken due to a firmware change by tapo, hopefully they fix that).

Easy Setup
This camera replaced an Amcrest doorbell that had horrible night vision. The setup was straightforward and it was easily added to Home Assistant, Blue Iris, and HomeKit. I did have to reboot Scrypted before HomeKit would add the camera but not a big deal. Blue Iris detected it by ONVIF, just remember to use port 2020 for these Tapo cameras. Night vision is much better than the Amcrest and everything just works.

Youâll regret buying this
Iâve installed many security cameras and other WiFi devices, including tp-link ones, with no problems. This one will not let me install it. Itâs getting power but the button isnât blinking green and red like itâs supposed to. The reset feature isnât working either. Stay away from Tapo productsUpdate: I bought a ring doorbell and had no problem installing it. Again. The Tapo doorbell camera is no good

This doorbell camera is amazing. It has an incredibly large field of view and the video quality is excellent (better than my previous Ring Doorbell). The best part, there’s no need for a subscription (although this is optional of you’d like cloud storage). It allows for 24/7 continuous recording if you insert your own micro SD card in the back, or you can schedules times when it will record continuously and set other times where it only records during motion. It also has the ability to use colour night vision or infrared black and white night vision. The other great thing is that you can make the led turn on bright white when someone triggers motion (almost like a mini flood light). This can act as a deterrent for porch pirates as they will see the led light up and it may bring their attention to the camera. You also have the option to set the doorbell to call you via the app when someone presses the button or set it to a banner notification instead. And the included chime is very loud for such a small device and has different ring tones and volume control. It works very well , and is actually louder than my home’s original doorbell. If you’re looking for a great camera with a field of view that literally shows you the floor mat (yes it’s that’s wide!) and will not break the bank, this is it!

Wired this to a UK socket using a separately purchased transformer (just search doorbell adapter) in place of an existing similar device. Really easy to install, both physically and digitally and works seamlessly with the Tapo app and Alexa. Some really nice features are included without subscribing to Tapo care. Used the SD card from my original device and synced with my existing hub to act as a second chime so I could have a chime upstairs and one downstairs (just note, the one I bought came fitted with prongs for an overseas outlet so I needed a travel plug for it). Really like the colour night vision and the fact that you can manually trigger it too. The angle of the lens took some getting used to as it looks almost portrait to give the head to toe view from even 2 or 3 feet from the unit. Loved the addition of the line crossing feature and have already set an automation to turn the hall light on for a minute if a line crossing is triggered across either of the 2 lines I chose to set up. Also (it is a camera after all) the live view and playback quality are both excellent, crisp and clear whether in night vision, colour night vision or daytime mode.I paid a little over £70 for the device and a further £10 for the transformer to wire it to a standard UK outlet and at the price point Iâd say it offers exceptional value for money. I have a multitude of other Tapo devices (hence the switch over) and Iâm delighted with this device.

Everything about this is good but one detail. The only issue for me is the setup for the screws. The ones provided are too small and I needed to use normal wood type but the holder part couldn’t fit the screws heads size so I had to do a slight modification to fix this. The second part of the holder hold with two very tiny screws that I wish would be larger so I ended up using the double sided sticker to provide additional support. That done, the wiring was fine after I added some length and got everything assembled, did the bypass and the connection was simple enough. The quality of the image is great, a lot more fisheye than I expected but somehow when you zoom in things look quite good. Sound is better than my other Tapo cameras I find.I now am hoping that this will last for many years.
