I had bought a Kasa smart outlet a few months before this one but was disappointed that I had to install the Kasa app to get it to work. This plug is recognized by my Smart Life app, which links with both Alexa and Google Home. Each plug receptacle can be programmed as a separately controlled device, or you can turn the whole unit on/off. Very nice and less expensive than the Kasa outlet. I use this receptacle behind my sofa to control a lighted art print on the wall with one outlet and the end table lamp with the other. I highly recommend this smart receptacle!

3 fails
First one failed within two weeks. Second attempt I purchased a two pack. Neither of the two worked at all and the neutral screws stripped out on both. I’ve done a lot of this kind of thing, it isn’t my technique, I couldn’t have been more careful. These Wi-Fi plugs are Absolutely garbage.

UPDATED: When I bought this product one of the plugs did not work. The seller was wonderful to work with and sent me a replacement right away. I originally rated it lower since one of the plugs did not work but have changed my rating due to the replacement. I would 100% buy this product again. This is an excellent product and my made life easier. My first plug in was freaking awesome. I paid an electrician to put in a plug behind the led mirror since the mirror always has a blue light on and I can’t sleep with light. I was going to have the electrician put an on/off switch but instead I bought this plug. Works great and I don’t have to get out of bed if I forget to turn it off…that is what Alexa is for.

The device is easy enough to install and use. Like almost any IoT device, setting it up requires a bit of patience. The main gripe is that it shows as two devices in the native Smart Things application bu only one in Alexa.

In the smart life app is a setting called “relay”.- if you want the plug to always be off when power is lost and comes back on, select “off” – this is the default setting- if you want the plug to always be on when power is lost and comes back on, select “on”- if you want the the plug to be the same as it was when power was lost and comes back on (e.g. it was on and you want it to be on again or vice versa it was off and you want it to be off again), select “remember last status”.
