Alexa-enabled my home office light in minutes
The instructions in the packaging were terse, to say the least, but there are PDFs and videos on the website that explain installation adequately. MAKE SURE YOU THROW THE RIGHT BREAKER! As long as you do that, installation is straightforward, and everything worked first time for me. The Smart Life app is a little clunky, but I’m guessing most people will just install the Alexa skill and hardly use the app.A bonus was being able to integrate with IFTTT and control my home office lighting from my Elgato Smart Deck. One hint there – you have to create a ‘tap-to-run’ automation for IFTTT to be able to see the switch.

Not the same as older Martin jerryâs
So I have several other Martin Jerry single pole switches. The others (S01) have a almost clear switch like plexiglass cover where your fingers would touch the switch. They also have a nice, easy and solid clicking switch. These switches (US-SS01) are just plain white plastic. The worst part of these switches are the click and the actual switch sensitivity. They only click when pushing in the exact center of the lower part of the switch. And a relatively solid push is needed to activate it. Not good for quickly switching on and off with a swat of your hand.If you are never going to touch them and only use the smart feature I guess they will work. But I had to return and buy the older more expensive version. I recommend buying Martin Jerry part number S01 instead.

45% of 58 units dead within 1 year, unsafe!
I spent over $4k to put 58 of these in my home – including many dimmers and 3-ways.One year later and nearly half have failed, some lost wifi capability, others provide intermittent and unsafe power to the circuits.Dangerous – do not put these in your home.Martin Jerry support is nonexistent.

Martin Jerry makes smart home Great!
These are terrific switches. I have tons of Tuya ecosystem devices on a dedicated 2.4 GHz network and have been adding fan and light control for the bedrooms into my system. These smart switches fit existing wall boxes well. Installation was a simple matter of pulling a neutral wire out of the box and connecting everything previously installed. The Smart Life app found and installed these switches easily and Alexa picked them up overnight. I use them in two bedrooms to control the fan and the light. With Amazon Echo devices in each room I can say “turn on the light” and Alexa knows to turn the light on in that room. The Alexa app lets you choose if these Martin Jerry switches are considered switches or lights. The Smart Life app gives control over the built in LED. It can be on/off with the source or stay on to help illuminate the wall plate. It also has a configuration for what power state is desired after a power interruption. I’ve been working home automation for 30 years and there’s nothing like having a simple power glitch turn on all the lights in the house and freak out the children.I have used a few Martin Jerry switches around the house and they are all well made. I’ve been using some for about 6 months and have had no issues with them. I feel confident with this particular brand over the alphabet soup kind.

Good but with flaws
I have 10 of these through out my home and 2 of them no longer connect to wi-fi anymore. Nothing changed on my wi-fi but Martin Jerry wants me to go through multiple troubleshooting steps when I know it’s a faulty unit.

No longer tasmota compatible 6/24/2021
Bought these with the assumption that I could flash them (either OTA or serial) with Tasmota firmware since they were listed as compatible. The hardware in these has been “upgraded” and they no longer contain an ESP32 and therefore are not compatible with Tasmota. These are going back and I will be searching for something else.

Works well with Alexa, reliable app
There are so many different manufacturers offering cost-effective smart light switches these days, and some I’ve tested have simply been trash. These switches are simple, straightforward single pole on/off switches… they do not offer dimming and they do require a neutral/white wire in the switchbox in order to power the switch. These particular switches are less bulky than most smart switches… they’re just over an inch deep, which takes up much less room in a wall box. That’s important if you’re working with a box that’s full of wires. Installation is very straightforward: the switches have screw terminals on the back, so you can connect them directly to existing wiring in your work box. They also provide a set of wires you can attach to the switch if you need to connect to a bundle of wires using a wire nut. Wire nuts and mounting screws are also provided. You have to connect the black/line connector to the power source, the red/load connector to the “hot” wire to your fixture, the white/neutral wire to the white/neutral wire in your gang box, and the green/ground wire to the bare copper static ground wire in the gang box.The switches use the common Tuya/Smart Life app, available for either Apple or Android devices. Follow the instructions to connect the switch to the app, and then connect the app to your Alexa or Google app.Once connected to the Alexa app (in my case) I’ve grouped these switches with others to create scenes, added them to dusk-to-dawn driven routines to provide automation, etc. The switches have been reliable and stay connected to the app, which is important.Based upon my experiences so far, I would recommend these and would order them again.
