    A handy home automation item
    This is a handy plug for home automation with some useful features like smart voice control, remote timer, and energy monitoring. The setting up was easy… but for one aspect that seems to proliferate among many simple household items, soon to include every pressing iron. Out of unabated “curiosity” the manufacturers want you to “activate” their product (no matter how insignificant it is), which requires the owner to provide their email address, or sometimes a lot more permissions on your phone. I’m not kidding! I had an air purifier which used my phone as a remote control unit for the device. When installing their application I was required to provide permissions to record and send audio and video!!! Imagine that. So, although this item is handy for home automation I dropped two stars for requiring my email address to “activate” a simple plug.

    Schedules do not work
    I bought these to remotely control some lights in my house. After setting up an account I was able to use my iphone to remotely turn the lights on and off. I was able to use the timer function set a countdown timer and then turn the lights on and then watch the timer count down and then turn the lights off. However, when I tried to set a schedule to turn the lights on at a chosen time and then turn them off at a later time, nothing happened. I tried using the set a time period method as well as the set a separate turn on time and then a turn off time method. In all cases, when the turn on time was reached nothing happened. When the turn off time was reached nothing happened. I made sure that the schedules were enabled. Still nothing happened. This device keeps a record of when it turns on and off. I can see records showing the device turning on and off when I manually turned it on and off and when the timer expired. There were no records for any of the schedules. Schedules simply do not work. I doubt that this was ever tested.

    Good Enough but Could be Better
    The Loocam Smart WiFi Plug is a decentt addition to any smart home setup, offering good control over connected devices via voice commands with Amazon Alexa or through the Loocam app.Setting up this smart plug is easy. With the Loocam app, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi connection (2.4GHz), I was able to get everything up and running within minutes. The app interface is user-friendly, allowing for remote control and scheduling of appliances effortlessly from anywhere.I particularly appreciate the remote timer feature, which lets me automate my home appliances based on my schedule. Setting up timers for devices like lamps, fans, or coffee machines has made my daily routines more efficient. The countdown timer is flexible, offering up to 24 hours of programmability.While I’ve had a positive experience overall, there are a couple of areas for improvement. Firstly, I wish the app provided more detailed energy consumption data for connected devices. Additionally, these plugs are so wide that they end up blocking the entire outlet. They also lack rotatable plug prongs which makes it difficult to use in older homes. Overall its decent.

    Easy To Use
    These devices connected easily to my home network and I was up and running after a few minutes of setup. The plugs can easily be controlled through the application which also has routines and schedules that can be set up for the plugs.The plugs only take up one spot on an outlet, which is nice, so the other outlet can still be used for something else.
