Best Smart Bulb Around That Connects to ALEXA With a Hub.
I have purchased several of the Sengled light bulbs and have not been disappointed. Not only are they the least expensive bulbs of its kind, they are also well made and bright. I use mine with Alexa to light different rooms in my house. The set up is quite simple. You do need a hub in order to connect to Alexa. You can either use the Sengled hub or the Samsung Smartthings. Since I used the Smartthings, I did not need to download the Sengled app. You do need the app if you use their hub. All I had to do was screw them into the fixture I wanted to use, turn the light on, open Smartthings and ask it lo look for devices and within a matter of short seconds, the bulbs were indicating that they were connecting to the hub and viola, I was done. Once the bulbs appeared in the Smartthngs app, you can rename them to fit your needs. I named some of my bulbs “hall lights” because that is where I placed them. Connecting them to my Echo dot was also simple. All I did was have it look for device and they immediately appeared. now I can just turn them on and off by asking Alexa. The bulbs are also dimmable. You may either dim them on the Smartthings app or ask Alexa to dim them to 25% as I did or whatever you require. I do have to say that I found the bulbs to be very bright, and that is not a bad thing. Better too bright and you can dim than too dim that you cannot make brighter. Comparing them to the Cree lightbulbs that are equivalent to these, I much prefer the Sengled because from my experience, they were easier to connect to the hub. I had a heck of a hard time connecting the Cree to Smartthings even when the lamp was right next to the hub. I have also purchased TP-Link bulbs as well. The benefit with those is that you do not need a hub to connect to Alexa, but if you already have a hub that is compatible with the Sengled, I would highly recommend that you get the Sengled, simply because of the price. That my friends is the best part. I have not found a better priced bulb like this than the Sengled. As of this writing, they are $8.99!!! The Cree is more and the TP-Link, much more. I cannot say enough good things about these bulbs. Highly, highly recommend!

So easy!! For use with Amazon Echo/Alexa devices!
Auto pair using your echo device by asking it to perform âdiscoveryâ. Then you can turn the light on or off and set brightness levels anywhere between 5% and 100% all with just your voice. These are three separate candelabra base bulbs that are individually named for device recognition purposes but setting them up as a group; in this case âbedroom lightâ allows all three bulbs to be controlled together as one fixture!!I have a dozen Sengled auto-pairing bulbs throughout my house and some are color changing. These are white only. I love how easy these are to work with.I should say that I tried multiple different brands and found them all to be extremely frustrating. They require connection through their own apps and then are hit or miss in pairing with Alexa devices. Buy Sengled and learn from my experience.

So Convenient!
I love this light bulb. The family room light was on a timer, which of course was tucked away on the floor behind a table and not easy to get to. Besides the hassle of changing the on time throughout the year for different sunset times, it was a pain when it was a cloudy day and the room got dark before the on time of the timer. So when I read about this bulb, and saw it works with my Amazon Show Gen2 that has a built-in smart hub, no other hub needed, I thought I’d give it a try for $10. I’m so glad I did. Setup was easy; start the addition of the light bulb using the Amazon Alexa app on my phone, then turn on the light and let Alexa go find and pair with the bulb. Done. At that point you can control the lamp with voice commands: “Alexa, turn on the light”. “Alexa, turn off the light”. “Alexa, turn the light on at 50%”, etc. When you tell Alexa to turn on the light, it turns on at the intensity it was at when it was last turned off. So if you had the lamp at 50% and then tell Alexa to turn it off, it will turn on at 50% the next time you turn it on. Now the bonus: I used the Amazon Alexa app to make two routines for the light: (1) Turn off the light everyday at 12:15 AM, and (2) Turn on the light everyday at Sunset. Now it’s automatic, no external timer needed, with voice-override. So on those cloudy days when the room gets dark before sunset? “Alexa, turn on the light”. Perfect. Two more points: (1) You can get a wi-fi version of the bulb for $15. This lets you control the light from away from home with the Sengled app on your phone. I didn’t see a need for that, so I saved the $5. At the time, I also didn’t know if this would work at all, so I went cheap. (2) I recommend this Soft White version of the lamp. It comes in Daylight too, which I initially ordered accidently, and I did not like the colder light at all. Very harsh to me. I only wish that there was a 100-watt equivalent version of this Soft White bulb available on Amazon, but I only see the 60-watt, which is fine for this application.

Doesn’t work with most Amazon devices
After doing a bit of research, but admittedly not hours, I purchased two of these light bulbs because they were compatible with Amazon Echo. I had purchased smart lights in the past that were compatible directly with my echo Dot. And after a quick search it said these bulbs were also compatible, but they suggest you use their proprietary hubs. Obviously I’m not going to purchase a hub just for to Smart lights, especially because I already have some and a smart device that works with them.Long story short, I waste about an hour trying to get them to work, and then email the company about it. They said that they only work with Echo Plus, but I was free to purchase one of the hubs, and that would make the $10 lights work. They then asked how I heard about the company, and I replied by telling them, and saying I just give the lights to someone who had the right hardware. They responded by saying “In order to use our bulbs with your echo dot you will need a hub. The only way you wouldn’t need a hub is to have the Echo Plus Alexa device.”.So, the lights don’t work, and customer service ignores replies to questions they ask.The light is nice and warm though

I was worried about how well these would work because of the need for the dongle. They were easy to set up and work really well. They react to commands much quicker than other devices I have.Update: I’ve since purchased 4 more of these lights. Two of them I paired no problem. When I tried to pair the next 2 at a later date I ran into issues. After exhausting all trouble shooting ideas on my own I finally reached out to Sengled and opened a ticket for support. Thankfully based on their suggestions I was able to pair the lights. For what I paid for these lights I’m extremely happy both with the lights themselves and with the great support from Sengled. I will definitely recommend them.
