This door chime works excellently and I’m glad I invested
This door chime works excellently and I’m glad I invested. There is an outside perimeter gate around my house were I installed one, and I installed the other right outside the front door. We had a need for a doorbell after we bought our house and re-did some electrical; we ended up cutting the old style doorbell wires and kept missing deliveries because the while the old doorbells were still affixed to the house, they weren’t wired and thus we couldn’t hear anything when the mail came, lol.Installation was a breeze – all the hardware was included with the product and we already had power tools at home to make the job super simple. Our old, pre-existing doorbells were anchor+screw mounted into the stucco of our house, so I just undid the fasteners, clipped the buttons+wires off, and pulled out the old plastic anchors. All you do then is just drill one hole in the top, and one hole in the bottom of the back side of the door bell backing [there’s like a circular shape of plastic acting as a bull’s eye kinda, making it pretty obvious where you need to drill the holes (I used a 1/16″ drill bit and it was fine) – I imagine you could screw the fasteners without drilling first but I didn’t want to take a chance cracking the plastic], hammer in the new anchors, and screw in the fasteners through the holes, into the anchors, and onto the side of your house.Pop in the included battery, put the cover thing back on and you should be set. We had some rainproof clear silicone in the house, so for good measure I used that to seal all around the unit against the wall so no water could get in behind.Depending on how old and what style of doorbell you previously had, some voids might show up around the bottom or sides. Lucky for us we already had some tile grout that also happened to match the outside color of our stucco, so I used that to fill in the gaps. Also, I found just one screw at the top is enough to hold the button in place on your wall. [I had to do this for one of the two buttons because the old button kind of made a long-ish hole and I didn’t want to fill it in, and then wait for it to harden/ dry and then drill into it later.]As for the part you plug into the wall that makes the music, it really was just plug & play. I like how there’s a birthday tune, and a lot of holiday-themed ones, among some other quaint etudes. The button only lights up when you push it, so you don’t have to worry about the battery draining constantly. The part that plays music lights up when the song is going. So far, so good. These buttons have gone through quick torrential downpours and searing Southern California heat, and have stood up excellently. No signs of color fade, melting, or any decreased performance. Yay!

Great product. Does what it’s supposed to.
My ten year old custom built (by someone else) house did not have a doorbell wired in. Being a split floor plan and most people going to the garage door on the other end of the house, a knock was never heard. I researched doorbells for awhile and came across this one with very good reviews. I needed two ringers for my front door and my garage door, and one transmitter that could be plugged in to the center area of the house so that it could be heard from almost anywhere in the house. They worked great. Easy to install (and my husband screwed them in instead of taping them) and the one that is the farthest away from the transmitter (the one at the garage door) works great. No problems with the transmitter picking it up. Our house is 2200 sq ft and I have no problems with this working at any door. I plugged the transmitter into my bookshelf in my living room because although this isn’t the most terrible looking device, it’s still kind of sticks out if left in the middle of a room somewhere (i originally plugged it into my arch over my island and it was a little obvious). Even back up in the bookshelf where the plug is it is very loud and I am able to hear it just about anywhere in the house. It serves it’s purpose, looks decent, and is very LOUD. The location of the buttons is not directly left out in the elements—the one in the garage is fully covered but will get some humidity…the other is under our porch and may get a little wet with crazy winds and will be directly exposed to the sun during the day as well. Hopefully they hold up to that!

Good Door Bell. But maybe not. Sometimes rings with no one at the door.
Update in early 2023: Trouble in paradise! My doorbell sometimes rings late at night all by itself! Never at a reasonable time, not sure why. As I walk the catwalk in my apartment building I can see that several other apartments have the same bell, white with the blue ring. My receiver may be responding to a signal from one of these other transmitters. But how to tell which receiver is “paired” to which transmitter? And why only late at night? I bought two complete systems in Jan 2022. I’m going to swap out this bell for the other one. Unfortunately this doesn’t happen often, although last night was the worst night for this so far. It may take a while before I can be sure if the bell I’m using now is the culprit.Update: My doorbell died after five years so I bought a new one. The new bell is much smaller than the old one and at first I thought they had sent just one button. I complained in an earlier update to this review, to the point that I downgraded my stars from 5 to 4. But I was wrong. There were two buttons in the box with one hidden under some cardboard. Morons! So my stars are back to five. The bell is still a good one and I am again a happy camper. By the way the smaller but still good doorbell is $8 cheaper than five years ago.===== Original Review =====My old doorbell was a GE model. And I had two different versions of it. One ran off three D-cell batteries. The other plugged into the wall. Both used the same wireless push button. The bell had two different “tunes” that you could choose. And the bell and push button had sixteen possible codes that they could be set to if there were more than apartment in a complex with the same doorbell. You set the code by moving jumpers on twp sets of pins. Well, the wireless part mounted outside , the literal “push button”, died. I suspect that corrosion was involved. I noticed a while back that the button would work when pushed in certain ways, not work if pushed differently. Eventually the thing died altogether. My first thought was that I would buy a replacement button. I used to see them on Amazon. But when I went looking I couldn’t find anything that looked like the old push button. I finally decided to replace the whole thing, bell unit and wireless push button. This bell has a boat load of different tunes you can choose (but I wound up accepting the default, an unpretty but effective two-tone bell sound that does a good job of piercing through my music and the sound of the TV). Also it came with two push buttons. I just set the second push button aside. If the first one dies, I have a spare.I’m not sure how the bell unit knows which push buttons to respond to. The rudimentary docs say you can get additional push buttons and “train” them to respond to your bell. No jumpers to move. It’s all done in software like pairing blue tooth devices. I assume that this means that the bell unit has a code embedded somewhere inside, something like the MAC codes in conventional networked hardware, and the push buttons “learn” this code. I haven’t had the bell long so I can’t say if it will hold up in Florida’s humidity over time, but for the last few months the bell has worked well.

I had these up in no time. I used the screw attachments for better security as one is mounted in a public hallway, the other at my back yard gate. That way if someone tries to remove them, they’ll need more time and tools ;). They work from a distance just as described.I recommend setting the bell selection on each before you install them on your doors – as you need both sections nearby to set within a few seconds. Once programmed though, what’s great is even if you unplug or remove the battery for the screw install, it keeps your selected tone in memory. 3 loudness volumes and plenty of bell sounds to choose from! These are a wonderful solution as when I sat in my yard I couldn’t hear the front door knockers. Also, I can keep my back gate locked as now if someone comes to visit they can ring ring !! Very happy with this purchase.
