Best purchase of the season
I recently installed the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus (Plug-in version), and I couldn’t be happier with its performance! This security camera truly excels in functionality. The two-way talk feature is incredibly handy, allowing me to communicate easily with anyone near my front door. The color night vision is impressive, providing clear images even in low light conditions, which gives me peace of mind at nightWhat I love most about this plug-in version is that with proper installation and the ability to hide the wires, it offers a much superior option compared to the battery version. I never have to worry about battery life or changing batteries, and the consistent power source means I’m always connected and secure.Overall, the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus has exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and functional security solution! Five stars all the way!

Perfect for what I needed and wanted
Bought this with the separate solar panel. The “assembly” instructions were Ikea-like â line drawings of the various parts and steps, with brief explanations of each â but perfectly adequate to get the camera ready to go. Since I already had another Ring device getting this connected to the existing Ring network/app, and the chime I already had, was simple and pretty quick too. The field of view was more than adequate, as was the picture quality, and zones to detect motion were easy to set up too. The image quality during the day was fine; can’t tell too much about at night because there are two wired lamps, always on at night, one on each side of the camera and the relatively weak light in the camera. It only takes a few seconds for the camera to detect motion, set my chime off, and show a popup on my tablet that motion was detected.WiFi strength. My camera was mounted on the opposite side of the house from where my wi-fi router is, and there is a brick outside wall and I don’t know how many interior sheetrock walls the signal had to travel through, but the signal was strong enough that I had no problems in that regard.About the OPTIONAL SOLAR PANEL: After fully charging the battery in the house with the supplied USB cord, then mounting the camera outside and getting it all hooked up to WiFi and the solar panel, for a couple of days i watched as the battery charge level started going down and reached about 90% of full charge. I was worried that the panel wasn’t charging the battery. Opened the app again one evening, checked charge level, and it was back up to 100%. Short story: the solar panel works to keep the camera in good shape. The only negative I can think of, and to me it’s a minor one, is that you’ll probably need to watch a few YouTube videos (what else is new?) and go through various pages on the Ring site to get a more complete understanding of the basic features and options and how to modify them. In reality it was no big deal.

Excellent security solution with bright lights and a siren
The Ring Spotlight has been a fantastic addition to our home security system. The installation was simple and quick, and it synced perfectly with the Ring app. The spotlight is incredibly bright, providing excellent visibility at night, which gives us peace of mind. Plus, it has motion detection that triggers the lights and camera, so you know when someone is approaching before they even reach the door. The video quality is outstandingâclear and crisp, both during the day and at night. The two-way audio feature is another huge plus, allowing us to talk to visitors or delivery people without needing to open the door. The motion sensitivity can be adjusted, so Iâm not getting alerts for every car passing by, but itâs sensitive enough to pick up any movement on my property. One of the things I appreciate most is the spotlight feature. It not only deters potential intruders but also lights up our yard when needed. The app works flawlessly, giving real-time alerts and making it easy to check the live feed or review past footage. If you’re looking for a security camera with great lighting and advanced features, the Ring Spotlight is an excellent choice.

This generation of Ring cameras has several improvements over previous generations
I won’t try to delve into software in this review, rather will concentrate on hardware and installation. Here’s a brief list of things that Ring has done to make installation easier:- Extra mounting screws and plastic anchors for the camera and solar panel brackets are included,- Captive screws are used on the battery compartment and camera mount clamping ring,- Plastic clamps (with screws and plastic anchors) for the flat USB cable are included,- The graphical installation instructions are clear and simple. The image quality on this camera is excellent. The sound is adequate in both directions. The on-board lights are very bright. The new generation of solar panel, using a USB-C connector, puts out plenty of power. I have excellent sun exposure year-round, and do not expect to need to add a second battery pack to this camera. (The older panels, using a Micro USB connector, are not compatible with this camera and probably don’t put out enough power to sustain the battery pack.)The lights are efficient but of course they draw a lot of current. Installations in places with marginal sunlight, long nights, or frequent nighttime traffic might benefit from a second battery pack, which is not included. As a somewhat clumsy person, for me the captive screws and spare installation screws and anchors are very welcome. This product can be installed out of the box onto a wide variety of exterior walls.Good job Ring. Please keep up on the little product improvements. They really make a difference.

Very happy with the Ring Spotlight Camera. I am able to monitor activity at my front door, each time I receive a notification of motion I check what has set the camera off. I can see when packages are delivered and who comes and goes in my driveway. Set up was very easy with great instructions. The automatic light feature is great and being able to speak through the camera and alarm feature added bonus.
