Ring provides detailed instructions and all necessary tools, making setup quick and hassle-free. Within minutes, my new doorbell was up and running. The video quality is nothing short of exceptional, delivering crystal-clear images both day and night. The motion detection is highly customizable, allowing me to tailor notifications to my specific needs. The two-way audio feature is incredibly useful for communicating with visitors without needing to open the door. What truly sets Ring apart for me is the battery performance. The additional battery packs charge quickly and offer extended life, ensuring my doorbell is always operational. Swapping out batteries is simple, thanks to the quick-release mechanism. I wish I had one of these 10 years ago!
This is a great device for security and convenience. It works well, and I got the associated indoor chime to go with it so I can hear a verbal announcement when someone rings the bell. The videos and still shots are very crisp and clear 15-20 feet to the sides of my front door and in front of it as well. Videos I have set to be taken when motion is detected within the range I set, and they are stored until I delete them (which I do daily unless they have something on them I have to keep).I am somewhat disappointed about the battery life. If I start with a fully charged battery and the Ring app on my phone shows it is 100% charged, I find the battery goes down 1.5-2% each day, depending on the “traffic” that was videotaped. I would guess my average battery life (I change it at about 5-10% battery charge left) is about 7 weeks or 8 if I let it totally drain. I don’t mind, since I have another battery ready to put in. I keep a spare battery fully charged, so it is quick and easy to replace with a fresh battery. Great product when we live in times where people and packages are not nearly as safe as they were years ago.

Good large aspect ratio, no Smartthings support
Overall I am satisfied with the purchase so far. Mainly got this due to the larger aspect ratio (head to toe) support. I tried the standard Ring Battery Doorbell (2024) and the image quality was poor on that one, but this one it was much better. The standard one had a washed out image, where this one remained clearer in brighter sunlit areas. The birds eye view is neat, however the distance that it can detect motion is vastly decreased in this mode (maybe 15 to 25 feet out at best.Pros:- Great aspect ration allows you to see the entire doorstep- Advanced features are nice, but a bit gimicky due to limited distance- Better picture quality than previous versions (Video Doorbell 2, and Battery Doorbell)- Easy installCons:- Not smartthings compatible- A bit thick and bulky, same as older units but would have been nice to see this in a slimmer body- Lack of color options to purchase (you can only get the silver and then have to buy all other color plates seperately). However they sell the standard in both silver and bronze, but not the pro version.- Motion detection distance is very short for advanced features (birdseye)- Fit and finish is not as good with corner unit as the Video Doorbell 2

Clearly much improvement in video and quality vs Ring 3 series
This 2024 version has clearly way better video and quality than my older version, but it seems to be dependent more on your network than my older versions. I have an excellent network set up at home so the ring in front of the house works flawlessly. The video is a bit darker than my old ring, but it is much more detailed and sharper. At night, it blows away my old one. However, the one I tried to put way back of the house is significantly grainy, suffers from delays and much worse than my old one. I moved it and it is great. Overall, I am actually very glad that I upgraded to this vs changing to another. I was skeptical based on other reviews I saw, but if you have a subpar network and/or do not want to add extenders or get the subscription, then you may not see the benefits of this upgrade. Lastly, if you truly want higher resolution and do not want to pay for a subscription, then thre are much better options out there.

I was excited to upgrade to this doorbell, especially with the new head-to-toe view feature. However, the image quality from the wide-angle lens is noticeably worse than the previous Doorbell 4. The Doorbell 4 had excellent dynamic range, colours and details, *even with HDR setting turned off*. In contrast, this new model produces flat images with consistently overexposed skies. I purposely keep HDR off on my doorbells to conserve battery life, as it is already subpar with most Ring doorbell models even with the solar add-on.Additionally, I frequently encounter problems with recording when there is motion. Often, the footage displays gray blocks or goes completely black, missing important moments. This is not due to my network, as I have a strong internet connection with a mesh system and the doorbell is close to a mesh satellite.I am hoping a firmware update will address these issues. I’ve seen similar complaints from other users on Reddit. Given the higher price, the worse picture quality, and the current recording problems, I’m not sure if this upgrade is worth it, especially with its “Pro” branding.
