Excellent switches for off road vehicles
As strictly a switch module, this is one of the best that I’ve encountered. Though designed primarily for AC use, they advertise it will handle 35A at 12-V, which is enough for most of the largest LED light bars, all onboard refrigerators, or an ARB twin air compressor. Best practice is to use a relay with these, but after the relay there is still a (sometimes long) run to the device itself–for example, roof rack mounted light bars and refrigerators. What often is overlooked is that relays can fail in the closed as well as open position (spring deteriorates/contacts weld), resulting in full current constantly flowing to the device. A rare occurrence, but not unheard of in an offroad and/or racing environment. Having a secondary switch to block current flow is a prudent failsafe practice. Imagine if your 52 inch light bar remains on for many hours at a time and you are unaware of it in strong daylight, or because you have black out light covers (required for inroad use in CA). It’s not just a matter of current draw on your electrical system, it’s also a matter of heat generation at the device.I haven’t installed this switch box yet, but my application will involved a roof rack mounting to control final current delivery to multiple roof mounted light bars. If fed by a single high amp input, the switches allow me to select which high current bar will draw power. When I’m actively off road and likely to drive into the night, the switches are left closed, and the relay will directly activate the selected light or lights. The rest of the time they will remain open, to insure an unattended broken or abraded wire can’t arc, or as protection in case of a relay failure. The switch box itself is of heavy plastic with two diagonally opposing ears allowing for attachment. The ears are a potential weak point, if the box is otherwise unsupported. With the banging and shaking that comes with off road and/or racing use, these ears of an otherwise unsupported switch box could fail. Best to use these attachment ears as the means to mount to a supportive flat surface, or for attachment to a sub-plate that is more strongly attached to the main mount. The box appears nearly indestructible, short of repeated direct hammer blows. It is of a size that allows for the length of terminal connectors, and of sufficient room for the wires to be routed to the switches. The lid has no overlapping ledge, but is secured with four screws that compress a gasket sandwiched between the lid and the box. The mounting receptacles for the screws extend out from the body by about a 1/4 of an inch, but are buttressed on the bottom and should be very strong. The two glands extend out from one side of the box, and are plastic, including the external compression “nut” and the interior attachment nut. There is plenty of thread overlap with the compression nut, but the attachment nut has only a few threads in contact, so caution is required if retightening should ever be required–the nuts are vulnerable to stripping, as I know only too well from using such glands with other boxes.Mechanically, the switches are large, well sealed, and illuminated. I’m impressed by them. When the cover is closed, the gasket compressed, and the glands tightened, this should be a genuinely waterproof and rustproof enclosure. The Achilles heel of the entire assembly are the soft rubber, pleated, sealing gaskets around each switch. They look to be find new, but I am concerned they could deteriorate with constant sun exposure. I’ll be applying a Q tip of UV protectant to them from time to time. Another hassle, yes, but good practice to achieve long term durability. Finally, the electrical connections for the switch are designed for AC wiring. They are similar to what would be found on a home light switch or electrical outlet. For automotive DC use, they are best modified slightly and used with a ring terminal, but could be used as is for split/forked spade lugs or even bare or tinned wire. I strongly encourage ring terminals for off road and/or racing use.So, that’s pretty much it. Assuming the internals of the switches are as good as those parts that are visible (and the specs suggest they are) this is the best direct wire switch/switch box combo I’ve come across over many decades of automotive wiring. I will seek them out if the right application arises.

Not what you want
Box is not deep enough to accommodate the wiring.

Nice switch, even though I accidentally ordered the wrong oneâ¦
This seems to be a quality made switch. I was a little confused by the way they have them listed. I thought I was getting 2 separate switches with openings in both sides. I ended up ordering a single unit with 2 switches built into in and a single opening for each switch. That was my mistake, although it was a little confusing. Nonetheless, I will just use it as a single switch and have the wire go in one hole and out the other and just not use the second switchâ¦which is what I planned on doing anyway (just thought I was getting an extra switch for a few extra bucks). The switch seems to be quite waterproof, not that I need it to be, but itâs definitely a plus. The rocker switch has a very âpositiveâ on/off click to it. Also, as long as you donât wire it backwards, the switch lights up when turned on and shuts off when turned off. I actually plan to wire it backwards, that way the light will stay illuminated I both the on and off position, to make it easier to locate in the dark. I havenât actually wired it yet, but looks very straight forwardâ¦two connections inside (one for hot and one for neutral).Once I have it wired to the device I plan on using it with, I will update my review if there were any issues or surprises. If you donât see any updates, then all went as planned and works properly.Itâs not easy to find an âinlineâ AC switch, so I was happy to come across this. Also, it can be used for either AC or DC, which is a bonus. Definitely seems like a nice buy at a decent price.

Well made and attractive, easy to wire
The version of this switch that I am reviewing includes two (2) green switches with two (2) access holes on the long dimension of the case. The listing says that they are single pole, single throw (SPST) but they are really single pole double throw (SPDT) as they break both sides of the electrical circuit. The description is otherwise accurate, and there are some nice touches. The switches light up nicely when âonâ if wired as directed, but if you wire them backwards they light up all the time which could be handy for some applications (finding them in the dark). You need 110-250VAC to light the light, but the switch will work at lower voltages, just no light.Construction is excellent. The top plate can be oriented two ways, making the access holes either on the top or the bottom, and I hit this with a hose (direct stream) and no moisture got inside. A handy, attractive, and well-made utility switch; recommended.
