Lighting automation is awesome. This kit is very cost effective and great quality.
First project was to add controllable lights to a short-term rental property. This starter kit was an excellent buy and was the jumping point for the base system. It comes with a Lutron hub which I use to control all of the add-on switches. For interior lights I used the dimmable decora-type Diva switches. For lights which you don’t want to dim (think front porch… exterior lights, etc.), you’ll want to consider their Claro switches. You can also buy switches just for lamps.. which wouldn’t require any electrical skills. These are largely DIY friendly, though you must have basic electrical knowledge and skills (else get an electrician or start hitting the books). The hub is a breeze to set up. You need to set up a free account with Lutron. There’s a decent app which makes the whole thing reachable remotely. You can do schedules, have an “away mode” which will make the property appear to be lived-in by turning lights on and off during certain hours, etc. It’s a good system. I’ve used and trusted Lutron equipment for years. This base for lighting automation doesn’t disappoint.

Fantastic kit for dimming LED lights
I switched a dumb dimmer and a rocker switch to these Diva Caseta Dimmers. The wiring is really straightforward, and the instructions are very easy to follow. Pairing with the Lutron app is really fast, and so far, it has been completely stable and reliable. Google Home was able to link up with Lutron and add the devices without issue. I’ve had so many problems with Kasa devices disappearing or becoming unresponsive, but Lutron just works. The included Pico remote and wall mount kit is fantastic for adding a second switch without having to do additional wiring. The remote is thin enough that it can fit into the depth of a standard Decora wall plate, so it really does look like another switch on the wall. The hub does require an ethernet connection, so you’ll need to make sure that you have a free ethernet port ready. Lutron advertises a 30 foot range for the hub, but that seems to be for worst case scenarios. In normal conditions, the range is considerably farther. The only issue that I’ve come across with the Lutron Caseta is that the fade-in and fade-out times for the on/off switches aren’t programmable at all. The app let you configure the low/high trim and the LED status indicators. The fade times are even configurable in their “dumb” Maestro line of “dumb” dimmers. It’s baffling, because the lights turn on and off at a different rate when I use Google Home, meaning that the fade times are adjustable. It seems like the Caseta dimmer just has hard-coded fade-in and fade-out speeds for the on and off buttons.Overall though, I’m really happy with these dimmers and the Caseta platform in general.

These smart wired and wireless are awesome
Wow these switches went in super easy and work awesome just remember you donât need the neutral wire to use the dimmer and that was so nice cause I have an older house so I could use them without a problem. The pico remotes work just like the main switch

Great way to start smart lighting controls
While Lutron components are generally overpriced, this combo package is priced well.

Love Lutron
Use these Lutron remote controlled dimmer switches throughout my house. They link to Alexa, theyâre easy to install (no neutral wire required), and the remote control chick lets can be easily programmed to control any and all of you switches with a single control. Also offers phone control with the app.I have them in Chicago and in Florida and you can switch back and forth between houses to control them anywhere youâre at.With the hub you can also program on/off times (including delays before or after events- like sunset or sunrise) and can geofence events- so lights come on when you get home or turn off after you leave. If you have Sonos speakers, you can also create events to control them.

It is cool, but you need dimmable light.
It will not switch on/off a normal light. One could assume that for the dimming, light has to be dimmable, but if you do not have dimmable light, it may fail even to switch it on.
