    A Game-Changer for Home Comfort
I recently purchased the Kasa Smart Ceiling Fan Control & Dimmer Switch and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. This device added comfort and convenience to master bedroom. What I love: Easy Installation: The setup was straightforward, even for someone like me who isn’t particularly tech-savvy. The included instructions were clear and concise. Smart Control: Being able to control my ceiling fan and light from anywhere using my smartphone or voice commands is incredible. Integration with Smart Home Devices: The switch seamlessly integrates with my existing smart home setup, allowing me to control it along with other devices using a single app. Reliable Performance: The device has been working flawlessly since I installed it. I’ve had no issues with connectivity or responsiveness.Important Note: While the installation was relatively easy, it’s important to note that you’ll need a neutral wire in your ceiling box for this device to work. I was lucky enough to have one, but if you don’t, you might need to consult with an electrician to add one.Overall, I highly recommend the Kasa Smart Ceiling Fan Control & Dimmer Switch to anyone looking to upgrade their home’s comfort and convenience. It’s a fantastic investment that will pay off in the long run.

    This one is nice
I’ve tried several dual fan + light controllers and just couldn’t find a good solution. Old unit was a simple mechanical 4 speed + off click-slide and a mechanical slide dimmer. This had to run through a separate WiFi box to “program” the fan. All worked great until I swapped the old incandescent bulbs out for LED’s. The light dimmer was no longer compatible. OK, revert to incandescents or upgrade the controller. Tried two other units before this one and each had issues. One with WiF the other with fan control. This one works. Dimming is smooth and obviously LED compatible at this point. The fan controller actually gives me 4 useful speeds + off. Wi-Fi works fine. The set up was easy but has extra steps to set minimal lighting levels. I’ve got a dozen timer settings on the fan to circulate air and it all works as scheduled. The controller is nice looking and has a very nice “feel” under your finger and is very easy / intuitive to operate.Well done!

Nice Touch Controls, But Uneven Speed Settings
UPDATE (3/20/24): As a temporary fix, TP-Link technical support had me long press one of the buttons to reset the switch. This has corrected the LED indicator lights issue. I notice that several reviewers have left pictures not even realizing the issue.UPDATE (3/6/24): I noticed that one of the LED indicator lights is off in the picture (slider bar indicators work fine, however). It turns out that this happened intermittently every few minutes for no reason, so Amazon replaced the switch. The new one has the same issue, but with both LED indicator lights! It’s hard to imagine that this was missed in beta testing. The issue has been elevated to TP-Link software engineers. I’m knocking another star off until it gets fixed… hopefully.I had previously converted my Casablanca Inteli-Touch fans to “dumb” single speed fans and used Treatlife fan switches. They worked pretty well, but I have well over a hundred Kasa switches and plugs and really like them. I decided to try the new KS240 and I’m not disappointed. Installation was easy, but Alexa failed to find the fan automatically during installation and I had to install it manually. Alexa did automatically detect and install the light switch, however. The switch and fan both work flawlessly with Alexa groups and routines. I can just turn off a room and both the fan and light turn off with everything else in the group. They also turn on with the group to their previous level.I really like the touch controls and touch slides. The sensitivity, response, and feel are excellent. The ability to set the LED indicator lights brightness by an offset based on actual sunrise and sunset is unique and very much appreciated. My only complaint is that the LED indicators still don’t get dim enough at night for my liking – even at only 1%. This is an issue in my theater and bedroom, so I just turned the LED indicator lights off entirely in those rooms. My biggest overall complaint is that the fan speed settings aren’t even. The first three levels are pretty slow compared to full speed with a big gap in fan blade revolutions that’s almost three times faster than the previous level. Here are the revolutions per minute that I recorded with my 52″ Casablanca fan:Level 1: 19Level 2: 34Level 3: 52Level 4: 144 (full speed)I expect that this will be a bummer during the cooling season when the fan is blowing down on us instead of the slower reverse setting during the winter, but this speed gap was also an issue with the Treatlife fan switch.

Excellent functionality despite lighting load wiring
This was a super helpful touch switch for me for my ceiling fan especially now when the weather is getting cooler, even when there was not an extra load wire for the fan light itself, I’m still not gonna worry about the dimmer side since it wouldn’t work anyway. But I was still able to adjust fan speeds from my iPhone, Apple home speaker and Apple TV, and put the ceiling fan in my smart scenes and automation to have the fan adjust accordingly to other things in my home like lights and window blinds. This thing is my #1 energy saving method!

I would have given this five stars except for the fact that I couldn’t get one to pair with the app and until it does, it will show red flashing lights even though it will work to control the fan. I had to move one of them closer to the wi-fi hub to configure it and move a previously configured one to its former location … I had to reconfigure that one but was able to do so. I did have to try multiple times on half of them to pair them with the app but all eventually did configure … except for one which as I said above, I had to move. It appears as though one was a bit pickier on how close it was to the wi-fi. Since being installed and configured they have worked well.

Pros:- Easy to use controls. For example, to turn the light on, just touch the light slider at the desired brightness level and the light comes on at that brightness. Fan control dimmer switches from eg Treatlife require that you first turn the light on before you can adjust the brightness, meaning you can blind yourself at night before you have a chance to dim the lights.- Easy to set up in the app.- Expose ON and OFF events in Alexa.Cons:- The dimmer was not able to dim LED bulbs significantly even after trying bulbs from two different manufactures. The dimmer that originally came with my light+fan as well as a dimmer from Treatlife were able to properly dim my LED bulbs.- The procedure in the app to adjust the min and max dim levels is convoluted. You first have to sit through a test of several seconds before you have a chance to adjust the min and max brightness levels. In the Treatlife app, for example, you just immediately tap a slider to adjust the (min only) brightness, which is much easier.I really like these dimmers (I bought two plus a motion sensor), but I’ve given them only three stars because they could not dim properly, and sadly I have returned them and opted for dimmers from Treatlife, which, although much clumsier to use, work properly with my lights.

It works excellent. Make sure you’re only using it for AC motors. I noticed it’s a little warm to the touch which is fine. One annoyance is that it is too easy to accidentally factory reset it by only holding either button for 5 seconds. This has already happened to me twice.

I have been waiting for a long time for Kasa to get a fan controller. I almost gave up, But I’m glad it’s finally out so I can keep everything in the same ecosystem.
