    Govee Lights: The Extra $20 I Should’ve Spent from the Start
    In 2023, we rebuilt my grandparents’ home and moved in just before Thanksgiving. For the lighting, I grabbed 25 Lumary 6″ Retrofit Can Lights because, hey, they were cheaper than Govee. Big mistake. Within the first month, three lights went haywire—one started blinking dimly in random colors, and others just straight-up lost connection. Over the next few months, I replaced somewhere between five and eight of them. Lumary even offered me a full refund as a goodwill gesture, but (surprise) they never followed through. Long story short: you get what you pay for.Sick of the constant issues, I replaced one room with Govee lights, and wow—I wish I’d just spent the extra $20 per set upfront. These lights are flawless. No connection problems, no random glitches—just reliable, bright, beautiful lighting. The range of colors is incredible, and they connect instantly to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Plus, the Govee app is super intuitive and plays perfectly with my Alexa system.Since making the switch, I’ve gone all-in with Govee. I’ve added bulbs for lamps in the living room, my son’s bedroom, and even strip lights in random spots. Their TV lights? Absolute game-changer. Syncing them with the TV creates an immersive experience that’s hard to beat. And the Govee app? It’s regularly updated, easy to use, and often has sales or coupons, which is a nice bonus.If you’re trying to decide, take it from me—just spend the extra money and go with Govee. I’ve seen people mention issues, but Govee’s customer support is top-notch. They respond quickly and actually replace faulty products. If you’ve had problems with Govee before, I’d encourage you to give them another shot—they’ve totally transformed my home lighting setup.

    Nice lights.
    I have 6-1/2” cans so I had to get creative mounting them. Had to remove the wire mounts off my old lights and glue them to the new lights. I used E6000 and you must let it dry for at least 24 hours. Then I had to get some 8.5” goof rings to cover the holes. After installation setup was easy, colors are vivid, white colors are pleasing. Alexa integration works well. Light construction seems top notch. Highly recommended.

    Meshes seamlessly into the Govee ecosystem
    I bought these lights to replace the Lumary 6-inch recessed lights I had previously installed in my soffits. The Lumary lights were installed easily and worked well, for a while. Sadly, the plastic construction of those lights eventually reared its ugly head and I had a couple of the diffusers just fall right out of the housings. I also experienced several lights lose their connection to the network several times. The Govee lights seem to be made of metal. They look and feel better to me.Installation is a breeze. You install these just like any other retrofit 6-inch recessed light. They even use the industry standard plug, so if you are swapping from another LED light, you don’t even need to unscrew the adapters. Once it’s powered up, just click the “+” button in the app to add the new light. It is the same as every other Govee smart light.My one gripe is that, at this time, the Govee app won’t let me set the 14 lights I installed a a virtual string of lights. If I could do that, I would be able to run the same animations on the soffit lights as I do on the rest of my permanent Govee lights. If anyone from Govee reads this, PLEASE ADD THAT FEATURE in the next app update!

    Random Flickering issue
    Installed for about 48 hours – since installing at least once an hour they randomly turn off and on, sometimes they flickering for several minutes before coming back on. Had high hopes due to having other hover products but flicking issue is too constant. App setup was super easy and color spectrum was nice but unreliable so they’re getting returned.

    Finally Some Bright Lights!
    We are a Govee family. We love this brand so much. We have the air purifiers in every room, the strip lights in every room except the kitchen, and even their heater. So far this brand has not disappointed us one bit. When two of our recessed lights in the kitchen finally died, we bought some random cheap ones at Home Depot and hated them. We finally decided to spend the bucks on these lights. The lights were really to install so I think we got lucky after seeing some reviewers have sizing issues. There were no issues on our end. The lights are BRIGHT! FINALLY I CAN SEE IN MY KITCHEN!! I am so happy and all of our guests comment on the difference in light that it makes. The lights are easy to connect to the app and each light has it’s own connection which was a pleasant surprise! You can have each light do it’s own thing. The app is user friendly and connects on the same screen as all the other Govee lights. I love that you can do everything from the app. Sadly, my preinstalled dimmer switch doesn’t work with these lights but that’s okay. They are worth every penny.

    These lights are a really good value compared to Philips Hue. They fit into existing recessed light housing and plugged in with the E26. The clips that hold the lights in aren’t that great to deal with and it was really hard to flush the lights into the recessed housing. The lights are bright especially the whites (cool and warm). However, the colours are a bit dim and not as rich. Overall for the price, they are a good value.
