    Wow. Everything is Awesome (But Don’t Let the Pictures Fool You)
    This product gets 5 stars. It takes a lot to get 5 stars from me. I HAVE to have some type of interaction with customer service in order to be considered for 5 stars. So 4 stars is the highest I give if I don’t have any interaction with customer service.Here is why:First, the customer service of Govee is phenomenal. I contacted them for a QUESTION, not a problem. They were VERY responsive and responded to me individually, not with an automated response system.Second, the app UI is amazing and intuitive. It is super easy to use and pleasing to look at. In a world where every smart product has their own app that gums up your phone, this is one app you will be pleased to have. Especially if you intend to buy more than one strip or Govee product (which I intend to do).Third, the product is awesome. It is shipped and appears as advertised. I have no issues with the product, application, or operation.Fourth, the modes of the strips are awesome. The sound responsiveness comes from a mic in the control unit, so if you are getting this to have dancing lights then be aware that the distance the control unit is from the sound source matters.Here is what you should know: I have contacted customer support to ask a couple questions and this was the response (my words) The length of the strips can be shortened to fit your application, but you CANNOT lengthen any strips because it may effect voltage and operation of the lights. There are no “unlighted” extension kits for strips so what you buy is what you get (unless you cut them shorter). You will need an outlet for every strip that you need. So it can get a little difficult hiding power cords if you intend to plug in a lot. The potential for this product is awesome and the value for a comparable product (looking at you, Phillips) is well worth it. I am very product loyal and I have may Hue lights, but I will be using Govee for my smart strip-light needs.Translation: buy the strip closest to the length that you need (going a little longer) because you can shorten but you can’t lengthen. For larger applications you will buy several strips and plug them all in individually. But don’t let the pictures fool you. Here is why. All the pictures depict wonderful multi light system with different colors showing on the same strip (although this is possible with some models) with NO POWER CORDS SHOWING. Keep in mind, these photos are intended to REPRESENT the POSSIBLE application of the strips. I do not believe they are the ACTUAL products being used. They are a relatively accurate representation of lighting, but not of application, aesthetics, intensity, or operation. Look, I’m not trying to be ambiguous. I love this product. However, it will take me a long time and a lot of money to get the effect and lighting that I want, because the strips are not modular.

    Work as advertised. Reliable. Great night lights. Excellent Alexa Integration.
    We have had these installed in my daughter’s room for six months, and they have worked without a problem every night.Perhaps the only challenging thing was figuring out how to install them and end up near a power outlet without looking silly. Yes, you can cut off the length to fit, but who wants to waste good strip lighting?The Alexa integration is excellent. I named ours “bed lights.” You can turn the lights on or off, you can set the brightness (“Alexa, set the bed lights to 30%”), and you can set the color (“Alexa, set the bed light color to light blue.”). You can also choose colors like “bright white,” “soft white,” and so forth.We used the “music” feature one time, and yes, the lights strobe to the music. The louder the music, the better it works. It was fun for about ten minutes, but after that seemed a little silly.Personally, I think led strip lights look much better when installed for “indirect” light. Rather than looking at the strips, install them out of sight behind something, and let the smooth, colored light leak out evenly from behind the object. It is very attractive.Here is an installation suggestion: We bought the longer (32.8 feet) set, and I installed them underneath the two twin beds in my daughter’s room. The run along the perimeter of the mattress foundation and bed frame, pointed toward the floor. They look fantastic … there is a “glow” from under the beds, and it lights up the entire room softly in whatever color you choose. It is the world’s best night light. Since you are integrated with Alexa, you can also set a timer for when to turn them on or off. If you wake up in the morning and see that they are on in your child’s room, you can use Alexa to turn them off without disturbing your child.Great product.

    Solid affordable LEDs
    I wanted to try out LEDs for my home office to spruce up my work from home set-up, and decided to try these out. They’re pretty good! They were fairly easy to attach to the back of my wooden desk. At first I tried to use the little plastic holders that came with the lights, but their adhesive was not sticky enough & they tended to fall off, but it didn’t matter. The LEDs stuck up fine on their own. The app works well, though if you’re looking for oranges & purples, you may have to mess around a bit – I found that most of their “orange” options on the color wheel actually looked yellow or red. My personal favorite is the “scenes” in the app, which are pre-set color cycles. There are a large number to choose from. “Fall” is what I use during the day and “forest” is what I use after dark to wind down. The one thing you may want to consider is troubleshooting some kind of diffusion method if you want them to be seamless, because you can easily see the individual LEDs. Even though they’re hidden behind my desk, I have glossy paint on my apartment walls and you can see the reflection of the individual LEDs. Covering them with some wax paper or Press-n-Seal would probably help take care of that, but I find I don’t mind it now.

    It is frustrating that a product that cost $60 has failed in less than 2 months. The power supply is working fine under tests, so the issue is the lights. Do not recommend buying these.
