    Wow. Everything is Awesome (But Don’t Let the Pictures Fool You)
    This product gets 5 stars. It takes a lot to get 5 stars from me. I HAVE to have some type of interaction with customer service in order to be considered for 5 stars. So 4 stars is the highest I give if I don’t have any interaction with customer service.Here is why:First, the customer service of Govee is phenomenal. I contacted them for a QUESTION, not a problem. They were VERY responsive and responded to me individually, not with an automated response system.Second, the app UI is amazing and intuitive. It is super easy to use and pleasing to look at. In a world where every smart product has their own app that gums up your phone, this is one app you will be pleased to have. Especially if you intend to buy more than one strip or Govee product (which I intend to do).Third, the product is awesome. It is shipped and appears as advertised. I have no issues with the product, application, or operation.Fourth, the modes of the strips are awesome. The sound responsiveness comes from a mic in the control unit, so if you are getting this to have dancing lights then be aware that the distance the control unit is from the sound source matters.Here is what you should know: I have contacted customer support to ask a couple questions and this was the response (my words) The length of the strips can be shortened to fit your application, but you CANNOT lengthen any strips because it may effect voltage and operation of the lights. There are no “unlighted” extension kits for strips so what you buy is what you get (unless you cut them shorter). You will need an outlet for every strip that you need. So it can get a little difficult hiding power cords if you intend to plug in a lot. The potential for this product is awesome and the value for a comparable product (looking at you, Phillips) is well worth it. I am very product loyal and I have may Hue lights, but I will be using Govee for my smart strip-light needs.Translation: buy the strip closest to the length that you need (going a little longer) because you can shorten but you can’t lengthen. For larger applications you will buy several strips and plug them all in individually. But don’t let the pictures fool you. Here is why. All the pictures depict wonderful multi light system with different colors showing on the same strip (although this is possible with some models) with NO POWER CORDS SHOWING. Keep in mind, these photos are intended to REPRESENT the POSSIBLE application of the strips. I do not believe they are the ACTUAL products being used. They are a relatively accurate representation of lighting, but not of application, aesthetics, intensity, or operation. Look, I’m not trying to be ambiguous. I love this product. However, it will take me a long time and a lot of money to get the effect and lighting that I want, because the strips are not modular.

    Govee the gold standard
    Govee is the gold standard in the rgb lighting for around the house. Even if you don’t want colored lights these would perfect for under applications under kitchen cabinets as they have several options for white (soft, led, eggshell, ex…)-Best overall quality hands down-Easy set up, and often times it’s recognized by the app as soon as you open it-Easy lighting controls- Adhesive is great 3m (also great brand for adhesive) but also come with hardware to really make sure it doesn’t go anywhere- Lights get really bright all the way down to really dim so it looks like it’s glowing. You can actually tell the difference when making small brightness changes to really dial it in.- Light quality is spot on and matches perfectly when you have more than 1x govee light going.- Offer a really wide range to get that perfect color you want. Only 1 I haven’t really gotten is Orange. Roommates a broncos fan so I turn the lights to Orange & Blue when his games on & Red & Blue for my buffalo bills.- Presets are cool to mess with and have great choices for all eventsPersonally I’ve tried all the brands from what it feels like. Being in IT and somewhat of a gamer my friends all same the same thing about Govee lights.

    Flawless installation, brightness and interface
    These are excellent. For the price you get good quality light strip with excellent adhesion and brightness. The strip was very easy to install, and the double side tape holds very well.I also used thw included clips with screws for added support and wish they did include more, but its holding up very well. The lights are very bright for the size of it.You get full app control using the govee app with lots of color options, and customization. The connection was very simple with my phone and wifi. I have 3 sets, 2 of which are in one location and the 3rd set at a whole different location and wifi, yet still access all with 0 issues. The schedule settings work great allowing me to have them kick on at 8pm and off at 7am or any other time I want. Would definitely recommend for the price.

    Frustrating but worked out OK
    This has been a very frustrating experience. I am an experienced electrician who has done many household projects over the years.. I purchased these to put on the back of my daughter’s desk. We were going to work together and make her room a little more special. I chose this model for it’s Alexa compatibility, it’s length and it’s reviews.I purchased some “L”s and tees from another vendor, as I wanted to run the light strip up and down each support of the l-shaped desk. We carefully cut one of the two 5 meter strips to proper lengths and began installing. We ran into the first problem on the second tee. The polarity doesn’t switch from one side of the tee to the other making them pretty much useless. Decided to skip the tee and work without it. Powered up that side and had problems at the tee and L. Connectors are horrible and extremely touchy. We could never get every color to work. I realize this has nothing to do with the light strip, but I am letting folks know that cutting and splicing these things is not as easy as advertised.After about 3 hours of trying to make the lights work, we abandoned the original plan and decided to just use the other 5 meter strip to run in one piece along the back of the desk, looping the uncut strip on the two corners. This worked well and looks good. The manual controller works fine and lights are bright.Bottom line is that the lights are good, Alexa compatibility okay. I wish hadn’t cut these up as I only have half of what I paid for.
