Works Great!
Ok, first you need to know that this switch is not a dimmer, which is ok for me because it’s controlling my flourescent lights on the carport. No more coming home and parking under a dark carport! So installation was fairly easy, but I also have experience with this, just turn off the circuit breaker and you should be good to go. Also know that this switch requires a neutral wire. The switch is also rather deep, so keep in mind that you may have some difficulty stuffing the connections behind the swith in the j-box. Luckily, this went into a 2-gang box so I was able to push the connections behind the standard switch next to the smart switch. This is my 3rd geeni product…I started with a bulb from WM, and was disappointed at first because the Geeni App didn’t let you program timers to turn the light on/off. Then I discovered that I could create a routine in Alexa to do this so I bought my second light. Now the app has been updated to allow scheduled timers, so you can go either way with the app or Alexa for the bulbs or switch.Integration with Alexa is easy, if you already have smart devices set up, just let her find your new device. Then you can create routines or voice commands to do whatever you want! For the price and performance so far, I would highly recommend the Geeni products….of course if I run into any issues in the future, I will update this review. Now I’m off to purchase another switch for my front porch!

Easy to wire (US), the wifi light is annoying
Super simple to wire up if you have ever wired any other electronic switch requiring a neutral, it is exactly the same. Paired super fast to my geeni app (i already have some of their smart outlets). Seems to function very well from both the switch and the app.I do have two complaints:1. The blue wifi light is always on, and is fairly bright. I wish there was a way to turn this off in the settings (app) or have it only come on if there is a wifi issue. I would not buy one for a bedroom because of this.2. The app doesnât adjust the dimmer level live. For example I have also used Lutronâs networked dimmers before, those as you dim in the app will live update the dimmer making it easy to get to the perfect lighting level. With the geeni app, it doesnât update the dimmer until you release the slider setting the value, this makes it more difficult to go straight to the perfect light level.

On at sunset, off at sunrise
I wanted to turn atrium and exterior garage lights on at sunset and off at sunrise, and dim them to 25% to avoid excessive brightness at night. This inexpensive smart dimmer switch replaced the old dimmer switch and did the trick. The choice of triggering events is large — temperature, humidity, sky cover, wind speed, and sunrise and sunset. Plus, of course, the usual timer functions. Because the weather events are based on conditions at the nearest weather station, your location may vary notably in wind speed, though probably not much in temperature or humidity, and only trivially for sunrise and sunset.

A year later, tap button doesnât work
Iâve had this switch for a year now, so I feel like I can accurately assess its performance. The Wi-Fi connection is generally good. It rarely disconnects. However, my biggest complaint is that the tap button to manually turn the switch on and off isnât working anymore. The ONLY way I can control this switch is with my Alexa. That is the preferred way, but it is a little ridiculous that the manual switch is broken after about a year of use.I have reached out to the manufacturer, but I havenât gotten any response from them. I am guessing I am out of luck since I purchased the switch just over a year ago. Iâll likely need to replace the switch, and I can guarantee it wonât be the same one based on the current situation.

Works way better than others.
I turns out this works way better than the other brand I use. I have several swithces and plugs from another brand (WE MOre or less have about six other plugs and swithces). Those have always been buggy – not connecting, not turning on at the right time. One particular spot in my house had trouble initially hooking up to wifi (other wifi devices work fine in this spot). Once connected, it would drop every few weeks. Most importantly, it could not tell sunset and sunrise time, but the regular timer worked fine. Even after a free replacement it couldn’t tell sunset and sunrise time (other switches from the same brand in my house do). Tech support couldn’t figure it out. I finally switched to this Geeni switch, which is way cheaper, too. It connected to wifi in about three seconds, and could immediately tell when sunet and sunrise were. It isn’t as fancy as the other brand, but finally gets the job done. Only downside is the blue light that shows it’s connected. Seems out of place on a light switch. But functionally works great! It is such a relief to not have to turn the power off and then on every few weeks, and contact customer service a bunch of times. I’m very happy.
