    i was a little hesitant to use the device.
    This is something i feel is important enough to share.ezviz has been in the news recently for some security vulnerabilities found in their devices.To my knowledge these have all been patched and i’m sure ezviz would consider it unfair of me to include that information in this review.However, I am always trying to write a review that makes you want to tap on “helpful”.And the fact is, we’re talking about a camera. And we dont buy security cameras to go in places we dont care about. We buy them for the areas we care THE MOST about.I do believe that ezviz has fixed the holes and seemingly makes a good product. I can recommend this product based on my experience with it.So i will say, the camera, the video quality, the instructions, the weight of the camera, even the base its installed on are nice and feel to be high quality. ezviz has a bug bounty program. that means they are taking your privacy and the security of it serious and they are willing pay anyone that is able to discover an exploit for their products. Basically, they are saying, “try to hack us, in order to help us be more secure, and we’ll pay you.”Those 2 reasons are enough to earn 5 stars.To be fair, Its worth mentioning even the biggest names in smart home devices were exploited in the past. Its a part of the world we live in.You should develop habits that protect your privacy even in your own home. You probably close the blinds when you change, or got in the habit of keeping tape over your webcam during covid and working from home. This is no different. Develop good habits and teach them to your kids and other family members.

    This is a WiFi/LAN camera with PTZ functionality.
    Pros:Comes with reasonable quick start menu which are easy to understand. Recommend you download the user manual from their website before you start.They support a wide range of products to view/use this camera.Functionality is good.Has a standard RJ-45 jack for hardwire connection. Documentation doesn’t state if this is POE compatible.Cons:Housing has a cheap feeling, very plastic.The unit is light, which might mean you will need to use the include screw on base to keep the camera in place.It appears you have to use your phone it setup the camera. So you will need to download their app from the Play Store or the Apple App Store.On the windows app, you can acutely access the camera via the LAN, but if you want to have PTZ you must login. Which is not very clear in the instructions. Once you do that will have access to the PTZ.I don’t know if this is a misprint or not, but if you want their Cloud services, they charge 49.95 per month.Overall:The setup was a bit confusing with the need to create an account on their website before you could initialize the camera. After that you scan the QRcode on the bottom of the camera to identify it to the app.It took a long time for it to finally see my wireless network, even though it was just 8 feet away with no walls or other metal objects in the way. Once it found my WIFI, it easily linked up to the app. Here again, there is a pop up about login to the camera with a password on the bottom of the camera. That’s a lot of logging in just to get the camera working on your network. Make sure to write down your user name/email and password you used. Once that was done, it suggest you change the password on the camera which is a good idea. Manufactures tend to use the same password on all their WIFI products to make it easy on production.Picture quality is good, there is light flares from objects that are brighter than the ambient light. Play back is ok, relatively smooth.I have to say the app leaves a lot to desire. It’s hard to find settings. There is settings for the app and settings for the camera. Now, it can be expected to have settings for the app and the camera, but at least the developers could have the settings for the camera available from the app and not have to specifically open the camera to enable the settings.In the end, I found the PC software much better, in terms of more settings and tweaks for the camera. The bigger screen makes it much easier to see the menus and the settings. You still have to login for the app and for the camera. It still means you must have an EZVIZ account first before you can modify the settings and control the camera. The LAN view, isn’t very helpful, other than you can look at different camera feeds, but you can for instance use the PTZ function.In the end, I think if you need PTZ functionality, you might be better off with a more name brand product.

    A well designed PTZ indoor camera that could use some improvements
    This PTZ camera comes with the PTZ camera itself, a long micro-USB cable, a charging brick, a small mounting base, hardware to mount the base, a template to use for mounting, a quick start guide, and a thank you card. The camera setup was easy using the smartphone app. The video quality is very good and remote control of the PTZ function worked well. There is immediately an upsell for using cloud storage via a free trial. We would have like to have seen a mount point for a tripod at the base of the camera to give an optional way to mount it in temporary locations or locations that do not have a way to us the included screw-on mount intended for wooden or drywall walls. Also, it would be nice to see an SD card slot for local storage. We did not see any slots that we could locate. The PTZ camera works with WIFI but also has a network port for a wired connection which was nice to see. With a few improvements this could be a stand out camera for the price point.Overall I believe it is of good value for the cost. As always I will evaluate long term and update with any new information

    Great quality!
    I have purchased many EZVIZ cameras over the years and this one doesn’t disappoint either! They are very easy to install and set up. I love that I can see them all in my EZVIZ app. I can view them 24/7 or they can record clips when there is brief movement. The quality is really great! My daughter’s neurologist is continually impressed at the quality of the video clips we show him of her weekly seizures. This camera also gives us the peace of mind that it will always work so we can monitor her seizures 24/7. The night view is excellent too! I like that you can talk through the camera if needed. I highly recommend this camera!
