Simply the best dimmer, “Smart” or otherwise
I have tortured myself over 20 years of upgrading the lighting in my house, including various stages of replacing plain switches with dimmers, upgrading to LEDs, and figuring out which dimmers work with which LEDs. I would recommend these dimmers regardless of whether or not you have a smart hub to connect them to, they are simply that useful and flexible compared with many other dimmers I have tried. Specifically:1. Incredibly easy to connect the wiring – I think this is called QuickFit, but basically instead of wrapping the wire around the screw or pushing into a lock that requires a screwdriver to release, you simply push the wire into the hole and tighten the screw. Easy to install, easy to uninstall and move/reuse2. Brainless – Simplewire means you don’t have to figure out which is the “hot” and which is the “load” line3. Works with all sorts of lights – I have used this dimmer on regular incandescent, 12V Xenon undercabinet with electronic transformer, Cree 120v LED bulbs, and 12V LED bulbs (from Emery Allen and Bulbrite) with no-load electronic transformers from Emery Allen (not Seagull/Ambiance, which don’t work well). All work well and dim to practically zero4. Soft on and off – this is an elegant way to turn on your lights, instead of starting immediately at full brightness, they dim up to on and fade to off.5. Lighted toggle switch – a very nice feature for fixtures you can’t see like basement lights or outdoor lights. Also nice for a nightlight (you can set the toggle to light when on, or when off, or never as desired). All of the above work regardless of whether you connect to a smart hub with zwave, which makes it “smart”. The connection to a Samsung Smartthings hub was seamless and works also as you would expect (with the minor bonus that you can control the Lighted Toggle feature right from the app). Finally, if for whatever reason this dimmer isn’t working for you and you want a great toggle dimmer that is not Zwave/Smart, buy the LeGrand Universal Togger Dimmer model #TSD703PTUTC. It is nearly as easy to set up, is “intelligent” (has processors that figure out correct dim settings) and can be changed from forward phase to reverse phase to handle various types of LEDs and transformers. But it lacks some of the cool touches of the GE Zwave dimmer, and most notably it is not “smart” (zwave connected).

Works Great in Z-Wave Security System
I bought this Z-Wave switch to replace a Z-Wave toggle on/off switch. I was worried about it working since this is a dimmer type unit and I had not used such units with my security system. It works great, the system has the commands built in and recognized the switch once I installed it. I normally do not use the dimmer features of the switch because it controls and outside light. Also, this switch is thinner than my older one, allowing more room for me to easily install it, and others like this one may allow me to expand my remote controlled lighting to other locations in the building, where the installed electrical boxes are small or full.

HomeAssistant can’t seemingly disable the overly long “ramp” on/off.
This switch has a “ramp” on/off that Home Assistant (using basically a Conbee stick) can’t control. IE it takes about 5-ish seconds after I hit the On/Off on the physical switch, for the light to respond. It does seem to dim “immediately”. IE when I leave the room, I hit the switch, and I am multiple steps away, trying to remember if I missed the switch, when it finally ramps down with some cheap dimmable LED’s (they came with the ceiling fan light this switch controls. IE the switch is ONLY for the light, NOT the fan.) So it could be that the lights themselves have something to do with this, but in my experiments, the lights DIM immediately when I adjust it from the switch itself, or the Home Assistant app, so I’m fairly confident it’s the switch itself. (and I think I remember LTT having a similar issue in Linus’s new house with Jaasco motion controls, which are basically the same switches, just with the motion sensor added in.)

    Always works great…
Never had an issue with the GE switch or outlet products. Works as described. Love the new and improved version where you don’t have to figure out line vs load; compact size; and the nightlite in the switch( that you can change to lit when on, lit when off, or never lit. I did have a hiccup in trying to change it with the upupupdown of the switch but easily changed it in the app. Works great and one feature that I found new too is you can set the dimming function for leds to stop and start high and low (if your led gets that flicker when you lower it, etc.) BE SURE YOU HAVE A WHITE NEUTRAL WIRE, othewise this will NOT work. I purchased the toggle to keep with the style of my home but I tell friends it’s oldschool on the outside but 2020 on the inside. The only way to tell is that the toggle is always straight, not in a up or down position. You can of course dim or turn on manually too. Seamless integration with Alexa. I use Smart Things Hub.

Easy installation, easy configuration, all in all a well designed smart dimmer.
I am using 4 of these now – 3 for halogen rail systems and 1 for dimmable LED lights.Installation was very easy. A nice detail – they added a white jumper wire to the package, very useful to connect to the neutral wire while replacing existing switches. There is no specific Type of load selector anymore, it seems to recognize it automatically – my halogen rails as well as LED lights adjust to any level on the full scale from 1 to 100 just fine.Connecting to my Hubitat elevation hub was very easy and dimmers started to work right away. I hear no humming whatsoever from them, the ramps are very smooth with halogen lights and a little bit worse with LEDs, but still way better than with my previous LED dimmer. I am pretty sure this is the best I can have with the LED lights I am using.A very nice detail is the blue LED light in the toggle that can be configured from the hub – to go on while the lights are completely off, for example. It is off in the initial state. Additional functions can also be assigned to the double tap.All in all I am very happy with this model, it seems to be well engineered. I would totally recommend this model.

I recieved the switch and was going to install it. It is sold as a 3 way switch. When I opened it and looked at the instructions I found to make it work as a 3 way you have to purchase a separate “add on” switch. If you would like a switch that works without having to buy an additional switch buy the Zooz.I bought this item when I saw the 47% 5 star review on Amazon. Now looking at the reviews there are no 5 star or 4 star reviews. So I would also leave a negative review on the review functionality of Amazon if possible
