Easy set-up, Google Home integration
Transitioning from another app based smart plug that didn’t support the app after Threads integration. Already using Emporia for our EV charger, so using the app was not a downside. Google Home integration was a plus, disappointed that it didn’t extend to Apple Home. App design is elegantly simple and easily does what is expected in terms of setting schedules and ad hoc control of the on-off switch. Being able to see power consumption is a game changer over the previous smart plug. Expanded smart plug use to our freezers for this very purpose since it also allows you to know if/when the freezer powers off. Overall, a very well done and useful device.

Great energy monitoring smart outlet
Started with an Emporia EV charger. We loved it and the visibility it gives into cost, usage, etc. I then added the Vue system to look at overall usage, and monitor individual circuits. Now weâve added the smart switches to look at and control individual outlets. They integrate very nicely into the view app, are built very solidly, and a nice surprise is that the power button is on the side so itâs not accidentally bumped. If you want visibility into your electricity usage, you canât beat this smart outlet.

Bought these because previous model was recalled
Only in a four pack. The syncing with the wifi was sketchy on the first one but the second was easy.I’m using one for the attic fan monitoring and minimizing power usage. I use a humidity and temperature sensor plugged into this. Schedule to run once a day to evac the air in the attic if the conditions are met.Second one and third one used for Christmas lights. Scheduled to run from 6p – midnight. Helps manage power usage. On Christmas eve thru Christmast day I can turn them on from my phone. No need to go to garage to do it.The app is excellent and intuitive. Great power usage report.I recommend this purchase. No I get nothing for my recommendation. I paid full price for these.

Works well but has challenges
When you can get the smart outlets connected, they work well with the Vue 3 allowing you to monitor specific items on a circuit, but there’s 3 draw backs. 15amp load max which eliminates some kitchen appliances, won’t connect to 5ghz wifi, so if the outlet is too close the the router or mesh Hotspot, it won’t connect unless you can turn of 5ghz temporarily etc. and if power or wifi drops, the outlets have to be reconfigured…and if you had to moved a router farther away to connect it the first time…but when it works, it’s great!

Excellent smart plugs, but can be difficult to set up
These smart plugs are perfect for using with my existing Emporia energy monitoring system so I can narrow down which devices on a specific circuit are consuming the most power. You can nest them under an existing circuit in the Emporia app so that you can see what percentage the plug is using versus the entire branch circuit.I did have some frustrations getting two of these to connect to WiFi using the app to set them up (both in access point mode and direct/Bluetooth mode). The issue ended up partially being my own fault, as I have some DIY access points for WiFi set up that I didn’t realize were way too close together and it was causing the smart plug to either not connect at all since there were two overlapping signals with the same SSID or it would flip-flop between the two APs and fail to connect. I moved my APs to be about 30 feet apart (as opposed to 15 previously) and the plugs were immediately able to connect. So if you have any issues getting these set up in the app/connected to WiFi, check the following points below:- Make sure you don’t have multiple access points (wireless repeaters, routers, etc)- Check your firewall rules on your router to make sure devices on the network can discover each other- ONLY use 2.4 GHz WiFi (should be obvious)- If you have band steering set up (one SSID/network name for both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands), that *could* cause issues and should probably be disabled temporarily during setup if you have problems connecting a switch

Great when they work.
I bought 8 of these. All of them worked initially. Connecting to my network took a little bit of time and a firmware update, but they all connected and reported power usage. After one week, three of the units just stopped working. They would no longer connect to the network and multiple attempts at resetting did not fix the issues. My network did not change during that time and the other 5 units are still online.I reached out to customer support but have heard nothing back.

I have an Emporia car charger and liked the app on my phone, so I decided to go with these smart plugs. They are legit, from accurate real-time reporting and an export feature to graph utilization. Worth buying a brand name when it comes to smart plugs

Supplier sent out pieces of garbage, plugs were not even assembled. No sign of âsmartâ components. This is a reflection on the supplier, who I think is a fraud, not the manufacturer Emporia. I have an Emporia product and it works well, so well that I wanted to expand the system. Ordered some Kasa smart plugs instead, which have Ben received as ordered.
