Unlock the potential of your ecobee experience with smarter comfort, further savings, and reassurance from anywhere. SmartSensor keeps you comfortable where you are instead of just where your thermostat is through occupancy detection. Place SmartSensor in the most important room, like your bedroom, child’s room, or office to keep it the perfect temperature.
Knows when a room is occupied and communicates the temperature to your ecobee smart thermostat from up to a range of 60 ft, through walls and floors. This prompts your thermostat to make temperature adjustments ensuring comfort.
Place SmartSensor in your bedroom and say goodbye to those moments that are either too hot or too cold throughout the night.
Understands your household comings and goings, saving energy and saving you money by not heating or cooling an empty home.
You’ll be able to see the temperature difference and occupancy in particular parts of your home and adjust right from the ecobee app for maximum comfort.
Installation is quick and easy. Place your SmartSensor, magnetically and wirelessly, at least 5ft above the floor on its satin-steel stand or on any wall using the self-adhesive wall mounting brackets
It can detect unexpected motion. When Smart Security is armed, you get real-time alerts on the ecobee app, so you know what’s happening at home when you’re not there. *Requires ecobee Smart Security subscription.

Love these!
We live in an older home with zone heating that often leaves the rooms furthest from the thermostat cold. With these sensors we can use them to help average out the temperature across devices keeping the temp more comfortable throughout the house. Installation is easy, they have reliably worked and the motion detection feature is nice to have.

Comfort and Savings!
When I was swapping from another thermostat and security system to the Ecobee to consolidate some devices and get out of rising subscription fees, I kinda brushed these sensors off as unnecessary until I set up the one that came with the thermostat and started playing with the features. I now have five of them that are spread throughout my house and have them doing the âfollow meâ thing where it detects occupancy in a given room then averages that roomâs temperature into the other active sensors to keep the living spaces comfortable. I have a couple rooms that are usually quite a deal warmer or colder than the others and trying to target them at certain points of the day has led to other rooms being uncomfortable to accommodate. Not so with this setup. The temperature still varies from room to room but these do an outstanding job of preventing me from having to manually fiddle with the thermostat. I might grab a couple more to outfit my remaining rooms.I also like that it is natively imported into HomeKit so I can build additional automations if I want.

ecobee Smart Sensor – Works Great
The ecobee Smart Sensors hook into the app and ecobee thermostat super easy. Really little to no configurations at all, simply scan the QR code on the sensor and the app finds it and adds it to your thermostat. Not everyone needs additional sensors, but for me this was a must. The only thermostat that is installed is in the ecobee Smart Thermostat and it is installed in an area that does not see people cross its path very often. When it thinks that there is no one home it then stops heating or cooling to save energy (good thing). The bad part is when we don’t go past the thermostat it thinks no one is home and the house either gets super cold or very hot until we go past the thermostat or manually adjust in the app. With these little sensors, you can have them in areas that people are in and it registers that someone is home and keeps the Heat or AC running. Some people may say why not turn of the the ability of the thermostat so it just stays on. Well, that defeats the purpose of a smart thermostat, and I do want it to be able to automatically turn the heating off and on if we are really not at home.Overall these are great little sensors and I think very well designed. I’m am pleased with them and happy that I have purchased them.

Overpriced but works well
My apartment’s management recently had new ecobee 3 Lite thermostats installed in all residents’ apartments, which has been a game changer in terms of scheduling and comfort. Initially, I struggled with it properly cooling my home, mainly due to my apartment’s layout â it’s small but long and narrow, with extreme temperature differences between rooms. The bedroom gets a lot of afternoon sun, making it uncomfortably warm in summer, while the living room receives only morning sun. The thermostat is located in the hallway between these two spaces, which made temperature control challenging. To enhance the comfort in both rooms, I decided to invest in the ecobee sensors. So far, they have exceeded my expectations! Theyâre compact, which means I can place them without adding visual clutter to my space. Pairing them with the thermostat was a breeze, and I love the ability to assign them to specific comfort settings within the ecobee app. During the day, the sensor in the living room takes charge, and at night, the one in the bedroom kicks in, optimizing comfort where I need it most. I even opted not to include the hallway thermostat in my schedule since itâs not a space where I spend time, which gives me more control and customization. My only significant drawback, however, is the price. Even if I owned my home, I would feel uneasy about paying an extra hundred dollars for two small sensors. Since Iâm renting, it feels even less justifiable, as I wonât be able to take the ecobee thermostat with me when I eventually move out. The sensors, while effective, seem overpriced for what they are, leaving me with a bit of buyer’s remorse regarding the investment. Nonetheless, they have contributed positively to my comfort, which balances out some of my concerns. Overall, Iâm pleased, but the cost is something to consider!

Great for houses with hot spots
Our home had existing ecobee thermostats installed when we moved in, but no sensors or other accessories. Both units are installed in pretty typical spots in hallways, but we noticed the downstairs always seemed a little warmer than upstairs. The front of the house is south-facing, with big windows in each downstairs front room, and the kitchen also gets a lot of sun on the southwest side of the house. We decided to give these sensors a shotâone in the busier of our two front rooms and one in the kitchenâand the difference has been huge. They display in the app so you can see what temp theyâre registering as well as what the thermostat itself is registering, and the two rooms with sensors are consistently 2-3 degrees warmer than what the thermostat thinks the temp is downstairs. The system appears to average them out to properly adjust to cool to the temp youâve plugged into your thermostat, and itâs made a huge difference in keeping our downstairs cool. Iâm a little worried about our utility bill, because the AC is definitely kicking on more often now, especially with recent heat wave temperatures, but keeping our family cool and comfortable is so important. These are extremely easy to set up and place, and theyâre both good-looking and discreet. You can easily move them if youâre using them on the included magnetic stands (we may actually move one upstairs to get a better read up there). Definitely buy, especially if you have a larger home and/or multiple stories, and look for sales through ecobee or on holidays on other sites (we got ours on Prime Day).
