Worked straight-away with Home Assistant. No cloud required.
The most interesting part, to me: Using the (still beta) Matter integration in Home Assistant, this bulb took less than a minute to set up. It was impressively smooth.I did it all with my Android pocket computer. It was easy: Add new Matter Device, scan QR code on bulb using phone’s camera, and… after a bit of a pause it was right there, ready to do stuff with like anything else in Home Assistant. From there, I was able to “share” the device with Alexa (again, using the Matter integration) so that both systems can talk to it independently, and all without using any cloud services. That said: Last I checked, Home Assistant’s Matter integration doesn’t work on 32-bit installations (which is the default way of running on a Raspberry Pi 3). Regardless of your hardware, make sure you have your ducks in a row and the Matter integration installed before buying.—Now, how does it work as a light bulb? It seems fine. It does the expected RGB tricks. It provides a nicely-variable color temperature for white. I don’t have a way to measure CRI, but color rendering seemed to be just fine. It produces about the same amount of light as other smart bulbs that claim to be 800 lumens. And it’s surprisingly compact — it’s substantially smaller than my first smart bulbs are, and a bit smaller than a TP Link Tapo L530.—Will I buy one again? Maybe, maybe not. I bought this because I needed another smart bulb, and because it provided me with a fairly inexpensive way to get my feet wet with Matter. But since I’m also rather invested in Home Assistant and I like tinkering with things, I prefer buying bulbs that come with ESPHome pre-installed just for their hack value.

1 year strong
I purchased these a year ago and they havenât given me a single issue for the whole time. I normally donât write reviews, but theyâre just so convenient and do exactly as they say they do. I have these lights set up throughout my home in bedrooms and bathrooms, and I love that I can change their colors from my phone easily. They make for some great lighting and are extremely bright, easy to dim, and pretty much do it all.I donât use Alexa myself so I cannot comment on the connectivity there, but for my purposes they work perfectly.

No complaints.
I was surprised at how much I ended up liking these bulbs. I put off buying smart bulbs because I thought they were gimmicky, but now I don’t know how I’ve lived without them for so long. I’ve replaced almost every bulb in our house with these. Don’t get me wrong, they are gimmicky, but they’re actually fun and worthwhile. I have so many presets for everything from “watching my favorite NFL/College Football team” in the living room, “intimate time” in the bedroom, and “nightlight” in the bathrooms. I really like that you can set it up so that certain bulbs will turn on/off at certain times automatically. I have it setup so that our porch light turns on at sunset and off at sunrise. Both bathrooms are setup to turn on a “nightlight” (dim amber color) around bedtime so that we don’t have to stumble around in the dark or turn on a bright light that might wake us up more if we get up at night to use the restroom. It took a while to get used to not using a light switch anymore, the switch has to remain in the “on” position to use the app or remotes, but we did get used to it.The phone app is easy to use, once you get the hang of it.It’s easy to link/control individual bulbs or groups of bulbs with our Echo. The remotes work well. They’re especially handy if there’s an issue with the app, which I did experience within a couple weeks of buying these. The manufacturer informed everyone of an issue after the fact, which upset a lot of people, but the remotes work independent of the network and I didn’t experience any of the issues a lot of those upset people did because I bought remotes for each group of bulbs. Lifesaver. You can use multiple remotes on one group (for example: my wife has a remote for the bedroom lights on her nightstand, I have one on mine, and there’s one by the bedroom door) so we can turn the same group of lights on/off from any of the three remotes without having to pass a remote around or get up to do so.All in all, I’m impressed and happy with these. I’d definitely recommend them.

Lots of potential
I like all the pretty colors. I don’t like having to use two apps to control it. The aidot app works fine. Ok my complaint was with a different app that starts with the letter A that Amazon won’t let me talk bad about her. She won’t group the lights together but the aidot app does both individual and group. But it’s not an aidot voice controlled device running my so-called smart home.

Best I’ve tried
Love these! The app is easy to use and set up, you can group them into specific areas of the home or fixtures, connects as soon as the app is opened, and you can completely customize your lighting. Tons of colors and what I love most is the ability to completely control the temperature and brightness of your lighting for day and night. Highly reccomend!

Value for money, brilliant quality
I have had these for more than 6 months now, and its going strong. Got 4 of these for like $15 which is very good. The connectivity has been fine for the most part, except for a few times where the app has been buggy just a little. But other than that, great lights!

Great smart bulbs!!
I got these because I got a new lamp with three bulbs in it that was just too bright. It was easy to download the AiDot app and get the bulbs synced. The app lets me put all the bulbs into one group and adjust all at the same time, or I can adjust them separately.I mostly keep it on a warm yellow, medium brightness, but it’s fun to play with the colors. When I turn the lamp off, and back on, the bulbs remain at the app setting (no need to open the app every time). These bulbs truly make my life better!
