    Cool looking but IP Rating He Caveats
    First, this strip looks really cool with the reticulate weaving. It’s sufficiently bright for all the diffusion going on. My only complaint is that by using conventional JST connectors, this assembly is not really IP rated. The pixels may be, but the IP rating is compromised. You are responsible for weatherproofing connections.

    A stunning & gorgeous LED light kit!
    Simply blown away at how amazing this LED light looks, it’s just amazing color, effects and brightness. Almost like a pixel tube, which is great! The controller and remote work perfectly as they should and I really enjoy the look of this so much, that I’m making space for it directly within view of my office/desk. It belongs front and center in your lighting setup. It’s that awesome, very happy indeed.

    Not the best experience
    I wanted to experiment with various LED products, so I ordered this strip to see what makes it so unique. Upon unboxing it, I was a bit disappointed… just the LED strip and some mounting clips. No manual, no instructions… nothing.I had to go back to the Amazon product page and then drill down to the manufacturer’s site to figure out what I needed to make it work. Turns out that I needed a power supply and a suitable LED controller to get it to work. (It would have been so much easier if the product description had indicated some recommended products that were compatible with this strip.) After some research, I ordered the SP108E controller ($22.99) and a +5V power supply with the appropriate connector ($11.99) and had to research additional data to figure out the correct connection sequence.After a few days of waiting and a few hours of twiddling, I finally got it up and running. Once you have the connections set up properly, you then have to download the control app and synch it with the controller. At that point, you are still not out of the woods. The control app is not very intuitive, and you need to do a lot of trial and error to figure out how to work it. (Again no real documentation.)Once up and running, I found the lighting level to be a bit dull. The patterns were interesting, but the tubing and outside webbing really suppressed the overall brightness of the LEDs.All in all, a bit of a disappointing experience.I am a reasonably technical guy… I have a LOT of experience with electronics, lighting design, product design, and in my current job… technical documentation authoring. I would have appreciated this product more if the manufacturer had spent a little more effort on the user experience and provided some reasonable documentation with the product.Now to be fair, someone who deals with these types of products on a daily basis might have found this to be an easier process, but for someone who is a novice and just getting started, this was too much trial and error to make it memorable.After all the time and effort I had to put in on this, I am not sure it was really worth the effort or the expense.Update: 2/21/2024The manufacturer reached out to me and pointed out that there were statements in the description stating that you will need a controller and a power supply to utilize the product and sent screen shots showing those declarations. I acknowledge that they were included, but my expectation was that there would be information included IN THE BOX that would make recommendations and maybe provide wiring diagrams for SPECIFIC controllers. As I stated above, this was probably my bad as I did not have any detailed experience with these products and therefore needed the additional instruction to feel comfortable with connecting it all up.BTF LIGHTING is one of the premiere suppliers in this industry and make a line of great products (many of which I have used). Please don’t judge the company as a whole due to my lack of experience and the lack of documentation in this particular product. Others more familiar with this product might consider my complaint to be trivial. I have increased my rating by 1 star.
